What was I thinking!
Submitted Wednesday, December 8, 2010 - 3:51pm [Take-out]

I tend to give places a second chance. What a mistake.
We planned a small Chanukah dinner an opportunity to give Solly's a second chance after last years disaster. We ordered jelly doughnuts, they where so stale the jelly part was the only moisture left. The Latkes had been so over cooked, prefab frozen ones would have been better and then a dozen chocolate rugelach we got a ten poppy seed and two jam??? the Challah was stale as well, obviously from the freezer. We had the same issues last year, we pre-ordered, when we got the food home and unpacked it and noticed that it was almost our order!!! we got all the items order just not the specific items. We called to let them know that our order wasn't specifically what we ordered, they informed us that they had to replace some items because they ran out of some items, nice to let us know.

The staff is always nice, the service is usually good considering how busy it can be and the price is way out to lunch especially because you never really get what you order.

I Love This Place!
Submitted Saturday, October 10, 2009 - 5:10pm [Dine in]

I can't say enough about this place. Plane and simple it's amazing! Other restaurants could take some lesson from the owners. They are personable, offer great service and apparently it rubs off, their wait staff always offer great service as well. The place is also impeccably clean which is always a good sign.
The lunch specials are an amazing value, great tasting, authentic, comes fast, steaming hot and is served with Tom Yum and a fresh spring roll.
Gotta go get me some.

Love your pie!
Submitted Wednesday, September 16, 2009 - 5:43pm [Dine in]

I have worked as a chef in many countries of the world, ate pizza in
many countries of the world my favorite used to be Milanese pizza (Pizza alla Bismark) but that has changed now that I have had Ah-Beetz pizza.

I've had Ah-beetz pizza a couple of times now and it's the best New York style pizza I've had. A nice char on the bottom, perfectly thin crust and top quality ingredients make it well worth the drive to Abbotsford.

I usually have the half Spanuolo/Fuoco, both pizza's are made with Terry's (one of the owners) own cured meat recipes, fresh mozzarella and finished with a nice drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a julienne of fresh Basil. All the quality ingredients make it well worth the price.

Although it's not much of a dine in restaurant Terry and Heather make the atmosphere warm and welcoming like you know them. Just a couple of table and an open kitchen so you can watch your pizza being made and chat about their pizza philosophies.

It takes passion to make great food, Terry and Heather
definitely prove that with the quality of pizza they produce.
Great work guys, thanks and I look forward to eating your pie soon.

It's Too Bad (Part Two)
Submitted Friday, July 3, 2009 - 1:38pm [Dine in]

My last review for Central was over three years ago, it's too bad.....apparently I should have waited another three years, it may that long to get it right. I always give places a second chance depending on the situation, and I always give the benefit of the doubt (how busy they are at the time).
Tuesday night I was meeting friends from out of town (Chef/Owners) of a very successful restaurant themselves. They called from Central, I thought this will be the second chance. I arrived and was asked if I wanted a drink in an appropriate amount of time, got my drink and that's when it ended. We never got asked if we wanted menu's, other drinks nothing, we didn't even get the extra lime we asked for. We decided we might be better off elsewhere so we asked for the bill, sometime later one of us decided to go inside to pay the bill. I took a look around, 4 people on the patio and maybe 15 inside with what appeared to be 4 servers on the floor. Sad to say but all Central has going now is the location.
I gave the food rating poor because we didn't get menu's in which to order food.
Service rating poor because we didn't really get any service either.
Value poor as well because I will never know.
Ambiance got decent because I think it's a good location.

We went to another place had some great service, great drinks and food.

Yum
Submitted Wednesday, February 1, 2006 - 3:28pm [Dine in]

This place has awesome food, great for fast food take-away. I live near the King and the aroma that wafts out of there is enough to bring you back many times a week. Portions are large and very inexpensive. Service is always very congenial as well.

Awesome Roast Lamb
Submitted Wednesday, February 1, 2006 - 3:22pm [Dine in]

Taki's is well worth a visit. It is inexpensive and the portions are huge. My fave is the Roast Lamb, for $12.95 you get enough for two meals. The staff is friendly and hospitable, ambiance is good. They could use a better cocktail menu and a bartender to serve up some yummy drinks to go with the great food. Much better than waiting in the line at the other greek restaurant up the street.

Always Good
Submitted Wednesday, February 1, 2006 - 3:14pm [Dine in]

I am a regular at Tanpopo and have always had great sushi, great service. The food is always fresh and for the price well worth it. The only problem is the occassional line-up, this is a good sign to me as it means that the food is being constantly rotated.

Awww!
Submitted Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 4:17pm [Dine in]

I have been a fan of the Banana Leaf for many years, both Broadway and Denman. It was disappointing to me when I ordered a dish I had been ordering for years and it arrived unlike any of the other times I had ordered it, bland and flavorless. When my partner spoke to the server about the problem, he sent the manager over to tell us that was how the dish was made and there is nothing he can do about it except take it off the bill. Are they taking lessons from Kam's?

Do you people know what you are eating?
Submitted Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 3:46pm [Dine in]

After many years of hearing how fabulous Kam's was, I ventured there for dinner. The menu sounded great, the place smelled great but the food was bland and boring. The only way to get any flavour was to dump on the soy sauce and hot sauce, and those where the hot spicy dishes.

I have been a chef for over 20 years and one of the first things you learn is to be consistant when preparing food. I try to give the benefit of a doubt so I tried Kam's once more, they are consistent, consistently bland and boring.
