Satisfactory dining experience
Submitted Thursday, October 8, 2009 - 5:01pm [Dine in]

Went here for a friend's B-Day celebration with around 18 people. The decor is outdated but warm. The service is ok considering how many people where there. The food itself was not too shabby. Not something to rave about or go out of my way there....but edible. I had the Andrea's lamb dinner and my better half had the lasagne dinner. There were 4 pieces of lambchops. That were size of a normal coaster. They tasted pretty good. The rice pilaf was ok with some steam vegetabes. I found the steam veggies a bit overcooked and old. The greek salad was good with a lot of feta cheese. The lasagne was ordinary. It tasted something out of a can. The meat was almost non-existent. The garlic bread was soaked with butter but not too much garlic in it. Overall my experience was just satisfactory. I will not go out of my way to go there but I might give it another chance in the future.

Great comfort food
Submitted Monday, August 24, 2009 - 6:35pm [Dine in]

Went here with my wife for a lunch. The food and service was delighful. I ordered the sausage, with coleslaw, cabbage rolls with both meat and veggie and perogies. I also ordered the borsh soup which was surprisingly different and tasty. My wife ordered the perogies and cabbage rolls and she was very happy with this establishment. If you are looking for some food that taste like home cooking and for a reasonable price, then this is the place.

Great food and very reasonable prices

Went here for dinner with the better half and some friends. I ordered the special which consist of a steak with some deep fried prawns, mashed potatoes and vegies. Also had some yam fries, spring roles and hot wings for appies. Overall great experience. The waitress could have refilled the drinks more frequently but overall was good. The steak was not the finest quality, but for $8.95 I did not expect too much. The deep fried prawns was excellent along with the spring roles and hot wings. The value at this pub is next to none. I am very happy that I found this place and would continue to patronize there.

Still working out the growing pains
Submitted Saturday, August 8, 2009 - 1:31pm [Dine in]

Went here for dinner with the wife and at first it was not the most positive experience. First there are 2 ladies who opens the door for you when you approach the restaurant. In my situation, I waited and both girls were not paying attention. Only till I open the door myself that they notice. We were seated within 4 minutes, which was good. Once we were at our table we, my wife and I looked over the menu 3-4 times and decided to order. Our waitress was not around to even take our drink orders, yet there were abundant amount of staff working. I counted from where I was sitting there was at least 10 waitress and 2 bussers. Not until I had to flag down a server to ask where is our waitress that a waitress came for our order. I ordered the 5oz steak sandwich and my wife ordered the bacon burger. I asked my steak to be rare. When the food arrived, I was missing the fries and the steak was well done. The manager came by and heard that the experience was not up to par. Or she saw the expression on my face. She had the steak sandwich replaced with another one and that one came back well done as well. She ended comping the steak sandwich and offering a free dessert. If it was not for the female manager to somewhat rectify the problems and to acknowledge the issues, I would not have want to return. She did a wonderful job of damage control as we heard there was several other mistakes in the evening with other patrons. Hopefully once they finished their growing pains they will become a successful establishment.

Tasty shawarma but...
Submitted Friday, July 24, 2009 - 4:39pm [Dine in]

Went here for lunch the other and order the chicken and beef shawarma. It was made fresh and fast. The server/owner was pleasant. The value was good as it filled me up and left a good taste in the mouth. The place could be a bit cleaner. The little restaurant has a lot of traffiic and the owner can be overwhelm with customers, thus not having the time to clean the place as well as he wants to. Great place for a quick bite to go.

Very good lunch
Submitted Tuesday, June 2, 2009 - 4:28pm [Dine in]

Went here with my friend for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. There are about 10 dishes on the special lunch menu for $7.99. I had the spicy chicken with rice and a spring roll. My friend had the green curry chicken with rice and a spring roll. The food was hot and tasty. Well presented and the service was attentive and polite. This place is great for a thai fix. I would recommend to others.

Mediorce AYCE lunch but service can be better
Submitted Monday, May 25, 2009 - 12:25pm [Dine in]

Went here with a friend for lunch. When we entered there was no staff in sight. We waited for a few minutes and then we had to hunt down someone. The staff told us to sit anywhere we wanted. We helped ourself to the buffet lunch. Then we wondered where the staff to offer us some water. Again we had to hunt down the staff. Finally the staff offered us and another table some water. The naan was not fresh and we had to wait for the kitchen to bake some more. There was a little bit of rice that we ate but it was never refilled. I guess since there was not too many customers they opted not to refill the rice. The staff was apologetic for the lack of service as I belief that they were short staff. I noticed that there were several tables that was not cleared and only 3 tables occupied. I saw two staff working the floor. I guess they were having a off day. Overall I am not opposed to coming back, but I will try others before I do as I was not overly impressed with this dining experience.

Delicious wedding banquet dinner
Submitted Tuesday, May 19, 2009 - 6:26pm [Dine in]

Last Saturday night I was invited for a wedding banquet at this restaurant. There were several dishes that was served. The first dish was cold meats like beef, jelly fish and other assorted meat. Very flavourful. The second dish was deep fried crab claws which was quite large and well prepared. Then we had the shark fin soupwhich was decent. Then we had the bok choi with sea abbolone and mushrooms which was very tasty and fresh. Then we had the fresh white fish with sweet soy sauce prepared to perfection. Lobster with cream sauce was my least favorite as it tasted a bit fishy. The noodle and rice dish was hot and delightful. The dessert was red bean soup and almond and cocnut pastries. I was very impressed with the presentation and service. I can only imagine the cost for this culinary experience. Will recommend and come again in the future.

Delicious AYCE sushi
Submitted Tuesday, May 19, 2009 - 6:16pm [Dine in]

Went here last weekend for lunch for the AYCE sushi. The food came out fresh and fast. The tempura was crispy not too battered. The rolls like the tuna roll, shrimp roll and scallop roll were excellent. Full of flavour and packed with goodness. The salmon sushi was fresh and tasty. We also ordered the shrimp tempura and cali rolls and they were also well done. All in all I was impressed with the service and food. The waitress was terntative and refilled our tea when needed. I will return whenever I am in Vancouver.

Sub par service and ok food.
Submitted Tuesday, May 19, 2009 - 6:06pm [Dine in]

Went here with my wife for a late night meal as we were waiting for a friend. We arrived at 10:35pm and we were told that they were closing at 11:00pm. There was 5 other tables occupied. So I thought that we would have some quick noodles and leave before 11:00pm. The host stated that it would be last call in 2 minutes and I gotten the feeling that she wanted to leave by 11:00pm. I was thinking it states that they are open till 11pm and we still have 25 minutes to eat, so I figure that it should not be a big deal as there were also 5 other tables of customers occupied. The host was very hestiant in having us there. I was too hungry to argue and she quickly placed us at a table. The host threw the menu on he table. I was not impressed. The table we received was right in front of the cash register/kitchen area. We ordered the wun ton noodles and noodles with beef brisket. The noodles were satisfactory, nothing special. The service was now non-existent. The tea was not refilled and I had to flag down the waitress for some hot sauce. Overall I was not too happy with this place. I heard Hon's has gone downhill but I had to try it first hand to see. Unfortunately the Hon's is not the same as it once was. Very disappointed and will not return to this establishment ever. There are too many chinese restaurant in Richmond to have to contend with this sub par service and ok food.

Delicious lunch menu
Submitted Sunday, April 19, 2009 - 8:50pm [Dine in]

My wife and I went to this restaurant from the recommendation of Dinehere. My first impression was the decor was fresh and quite pleasant considering the neighbourhood. We first started with the Lo Mee Regular which consist of rice noodles, minced pork and bar-b-q pork. I quite enjoyed it. The noodles could have use some more sauce but otherwise it was delicious. Then we had the Pulut panggang which is steamed coconut rice wrapped with dried shrimps, it was a different dish with a tasty asain flair. Last we had the Crispy Hainan Chicken and I loved it. The chicken was very freah and full of taste. The overall experience was very pleasant and I would recommend this little family owned establishment to anyone.

Submitted Thursday, April 16, 2009 - 9:44pm [Dine in]

My friend and I went this restaurant due to all the reviews from dinehere. We both had the special, mine was non-vegie and her was vegie. Mine had the lamb curry, 2 tandori chicken, rice and 2 pieces of naun. My friend was 2 dishes of vegetatiarian dishes, rice and 2 pieces of naun. Both our dishes were good. The naun was excellent, fresh and hot. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. The dishes was not the best East Indian food that I ever had but it was overall very good. I was impressed with the whole package. Would recommend to others.

OK food and service.
Submitted Wednesday, April 15, 2009 - 2:54am [Dine in]

Went here for a quick dinner with my better half as I read some good reviews in the past and some friends referral. So I thought I give this place a try. My first impression was that it look like a typical chinese diner/greasy spoon. I was impressed that they had a flat screen TV for viewing. The cleaniness was ok, I noticed that the table was a bit sticky on my side, other than that it was satisfactory. The menu selection was quite large and we ended up getting wonton noodle soup for my wife, wonton/beef tripe noodle soup for me and some curry beef brisket on steamed rice to share. The wonton/tripe noodle soup was ok. The wonton was plump and had a lot of meat in it but the tripe tasted different than what I am accustomed too with other restaurant. The broth in my opinion was too salty, maybe too much MSG. My wife agreed after finishing her soup. The curry beef brisket was just satisfactory as it did not have enough meat compared to the green pepper, onions and celery. The curry sauce itself was decent. The staff was friendly and talkative except for the one who was clearing off the tables. She seemed to be in a rush as she quickly picked up our dishes just when we finshed eating (LITERALLY). She seemed impatient and couldn't crack a smile if her life depended on it. I always listen to the staff at Chinese restaurants to hear what they are saying and at this particular day I noticed nothing bad was said towards the customers as previous reviews have stated. Overall experience was it was nothing special. There are several better Chinese diners out there and with the same thought, there are a lot of worse places too.

Taro Milky Bubble Tea...Yum
Submitted Wednesday, April 15, 2009 - 2:32am [Dine in]

My wife was craving for a bubble tea and we were in the area so we dropped in. We shared a Taro milky bubble tea w/o the pearls. I always thought taro was some paste or fruit but we found out that the taro bubble tea is a crystal powder. What else is added is some ice and I believe it was condensed milk. The consistency made it taste that it was some paste. But now seeing how it was made reminds me of a protein shake. Neithertheless it tasted good and refreshing. I noticed the shop itself and it looked like a typical cafe. Since it was a sunny day we ventured outside. We did not stay to drink our bubble tea inside but I noticed the ambiance was satisfactory, nothing special. The service was prompt and the value was good compared to a Starbuck's drink. Overall I would come again.

Take out pizza place only
Submitted Wednesday, March 25, 2009 - 4:32pm [Dine in]

Last week I ordered some pizzas as in the past I was impressed with the quality and quantity of their pizzas. Unfortunately this time was not the case. I ordered the 3 for 1 Party pack pizzas for $25.99 for 3 large pizzas. In the past the pizzas were excellent, maybe this was an off day but the pizzas was average this time. We had some shrimps on one pizzas and it tasted fishy and the shrimps were so small that you can barely see them. The taste was not fresh and it was believed that the shrimps came from a can that sat out too long. The meat topping pizzas were better. Overall it was a satisfactory experience. I would probably order again in the future but stay away from any seafood.

Decent Thai food
Submitted Wednesday, March 25, 2009 - 4:23pm [Dine in]

My wife and I went here last Friday night for dinner. We ordered the Hot and sour soup, pad thai noodles, and Gang Panang chicken with white rice. The soup came out first and it was ok. It is basically hot and sour broth with some prawns and various spices. It was nothing that I will order again in the near future. The pad thai was delicious and the gang panang chicken was creamy and spicy. I was informed by the owner that this restaurant just opened 3 months ago and the previous restaurant was also a thai place. Overall the experience was positive and I would come back. But I am still searching for the perfect thai restaurant.

Poor food and service
Submitted Sunday, March 15, 2009 - 8:33pm [Dine in]

My wife and I went here with another couple on Friday night. They ordered some drinks and they said that it was good. The food on another hand was not. We ordered then chicken tenders with yam fries and both of the food was tasteless and a waste of calories. The sauce that came with it usually costs $1.00 but we managed to get it free as the waiitress forgot to bring any sauce for us except honey mustard for the chicken tenders. The sauce for the yam fries was surprisingly flavourless and the other couple who ordered the beef sliders and yam fries was equally unimpressed with the food. The service was borderline acceptable. The waitress would come over to the table to ask us how the food was and right after she said that she turn around and left before we could answer. Why bother asking if you are not even pretending to listen. The waitress seem so fake and clueless about their duties. I would rather go elsewhere before I return back to this establishment.

Great cheap eats
Submitted Saturday, March 7, 2009 - 1:44am [Dine in]

Went here for lunch with my wife. She ordered the Philly cheese steak wrap and I ordered the infamous mushroom burger and a fountain drink. My wife did not really like her wrap as it had too many onions and cheese that it overwhelm her wrap. Mine on the other hand was pretty good. Lots of mushrooms on the burger. The fountain drink that we had was a bit expensive for what its worth. Overall the experience was positive. If you want some cheap eats, quantity over quality and do not care about the outdated ambiance, I would give this place a try.

Submitted Friday, March 6, 2009 - 1:23am [Dine in]

My friend and I went here for lunch. We had the set menu where you ordered 5 dishes from a list of 25 for $19.99. We ordered the tempura prawns(4), spicey and sweet chicken, sweet and sour deep fried pork chops, chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki. All the dishes came out fresh and hot. I was impressed with the value set menu. The food tasted pretty good. The service was good, they served the food in a timely manner but after the food was placed you do not here from them. The restuarant itself is very clean and I will plan to come back to try their all-u-can-eat Korean Bar-b-q.

Submitted Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 10:33pm [Dine in]

Went here with my wife and friend yesterday. We ordered the Elvis Platter for the three of us. Yes, I know it was a bit too much for the 3 of us but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The pulled pork, brisket, ham, sausage, beans and potatoe salad were very good. They had a lot of flavour and was very moist. The roasted chicken, ribs, cornbread and coleslaw was not so good. The roasted chicken (or at least my half) was very dry and flavourless, the ribs were like leather, dry and tough. I believe that they let it sit in the oven too long or under the heat lamp. just to keep it warm The cornbread was barely edible. The coleslaw was just ok, I could only take a bite before I had to pass on it for something else. Overall it was ok, nothing to rave about. Maybe I was here on a off day, but i might give it a try again in the future.
