Kingston 11 Reggae Cafe1336 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
The best in Van...
Submitted Sunday, April 5, 2009 - 9:51pm [Dine in]

Why is it that most of my reviews are motivated by people who slag good restaurants for personal reasons and usually only have a single review :)
Kingston 11's food is fantastic. Their jerk chicken and jerk pork are perfectly seasoned and have just the right ammount of heat.
The chicken stew and oxtail stew are also wonderful and they have a large assortment of tropical drinks to choose fron which compliment these spicy dishes beautifully.
Funny that the last reviewer disparaged the co-owners english when he can't spell at the level of a first-grader :)
Treat yourself to a wonderful meal and decide for yourself :)

Nice legs...shame about the face

This is a beautiful restaurant inside. Vaulted, barrel ceilings, painted in rich earth tones with some beautiful murals. That's the good part.
We were a party of approximately 20 for a birthday and the food was extremely dissapointing, however, our waiter was very attentive and pleasant.
The calamari was deep-fried and so oily that the batter fell off of most of it.
The halibut taquitos were just as oily and tasted like store bought fish-sticks.
Apparently the halibut entree was good, however, the majority of comments around the table were very dissapointing.
Too bad, because this is a really funky room. Go there for drinks and enjoy the atmosphere...but do yourself a favour and satiate your hunger somewhere else.

Salt Tasting Room45 Blood Alley, Vancouver
Try Granville Market

There is no doubt that "Salt" offers some wonderful food pairings, however, the portions are minute for the price.
Almost all of their offerings can befound at The GI Market for a quarter of the price.
I also find the ambience to be a little on the cold side and can't help but feel a wee bit strange dining with the abject poverty that waits in Blood Alley just outside the entrance.
To each there own, however, not this reviewers particular cup of tea.

wonderfully consistant

I've always judged a restaurant by the quality of the food first, and secondly, by their ability to serve me my favorite dishes the exact same way every time. BC has delivered on both fronts for the past several years.
Their pasta dishes are very reasonably priced and extremely tasty. The Con Gambari being one of my faves(forgive the spelling :)
Their service is also consistently up to snuff with the food.

Malaysian Fast Food
Submitted Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 3:13pm [Dine in]

I was extremely dissapointed with the quality of food served here.
I have always been a big fan of Malaysian food, however this place was a dissapointment.
Two of the items we ordered were classic dishes...beef rendang and satai. The satai was over-cooked and the rendang had virtually no gravy(extremely dry.)
The spring-rolls were quite greasy as well. Our server was relatively friendly, however, in the future we will visit our other stand-bys, as the quality for your dollar just isn't there.

It strikes me that there are an incredible ammount of hidden agendas on this site and itbehooves us to read between the lines where reviews are concerned.
I've always wanted to add my opinion and I've finally decided to after reading the last two posts.
Giving a place like this one star across reflects on the maturity of the reviewer...enough said.
I have been bringing friends here for 10 years since I moved to the Norht Shore and every single guest has drooled over the flavour of Honey's famous doughnuts...definitely there strength.
If you can get them while they're still hot you'll be in for one heck of a treat if you like an old style, dense, slightly crispy on the outside doughnut:)
