Fresh & Delicious Sashimi
Submitted Sunday, August 28, 2011 - 12:37pm [Dine in]

This would be the first sushi restaurant that would come to my mind whenever I am craving sashimi. The restaurant is a small mom and pop gig, yet they are able to provide great customer service and delectable sushi.

Upon coming in to the restaurant, you are greeted by both the hostest and the chef. You have the choice of dining along the sushi bar or sitting at the smaller tables. The menu is not that large, but there are so many different choices for the daring sashimi-lovers. The sashimis are irresistible and incredibly fresh. This Japanese sushi joint is authentic as it gets!

I was craving for sushi today and my regular sushi bar which I frequent was closed on Sunday so I decided to give this sushi joint a try since it is walking distance from my place for take-out. Boy what a mistake! The selection offered here is pretty decent but the quality of the food is definitely not the freshest. It is your typical Chinese owned Japanese restaurant.

I was greeted as I walked in and was given a cup of green tea. I quickly browsed through their 4 page menu and was struck by the vast selection.

I ordered their "make your own sashimi combo" which consisted of 3 different sashimis. The sashimi cuts were quite skimpy and a bit tasteless. I chose the salmon, toro, and tai for my selection. The salmon and toro were alright but not the best and the tai was just way too oily and fishy.I couldn't even push myself to eat the last 2 pieces the of tai sashimi.

I also ordered the "make your own combo" for the rolls and cones where it allowed you to choose 3 different items off their menu. I chose 2 spicy chopped scallop rolls and 1 spicy chopped tuna roll. The taste of the rolls were comparable to the average generic AYCE quality. The scallop had a bad after taste and the spicy tuna had a funkier fishy taste. Again, freshness is not their forte.

To recap, if you want fresh sushi stay away from this place. Their selection was quite modest but the quality is not there. I will definitely not come back for take-out.
