Good Breakfast
Submitted Saturday, February 26, 2011 - 6:06pm [Dine in]

My Daughter and I went here for breakfast, there was no wait. We were seated, given menus and served our beverages of choice right away. The meals were plentiful and tasty. I had an "lite" omelet (the works) with toast and nice crispy hashbrowns. My daughter had the Waffle Big Breakfast. Everything was prepared well and served promptly. Our server was friendly and topped up our beverages often.
We will come back again, there is no doubt.

Not What I Expected
Submitted Friday, December 10, 2010 - 11:02am [Dine in]

We phoned in the afternoon for a reservation and left a voicemail. Tried again later still no one answered. Received a call at 5:04pm saying we had a reservation for 5:10pm!! We were in the parking lot when we got the call!! I should have know where this was going.

After trekking up a long flight of stairs we were taken to a booth near a loud group of red hat women, at our request to be seated further away we were given another booth only 2 away from them. We were left seated without menus for about 10 minutes, no one approached for drink orders. When the server finally appeared she was friendly but distracted. The service was slow and not very personal, she never introduced herself.
Our tea was served tepid and the teapots didn't hold enough water to fill the mugs. It took forever for her to return, but after we received the food the staff stopped by so often it became quite annoying. The server said we had a choice between rice and potatoes, but when we ordered this was somehow forgotten - we were served the potatoes.

We ordered from the 'feature' sheet; Vienna schnitzel with Lobster bake and Bavaria schnitzel topped with hollandaise, crab & shrimp. The meals came with goulash soup & garlic toast - the soup was salty and tasteless. The server said it was a ground beef / tomato base with vegetables, I had 1 or 2 tiny bits of beef (?) in my bowl and no vegetables at all. The schnitzels were breaded pork, cooked nicely, they came with roasted potatoes and cooked red cabbage. The main course was tasty but not good enough to warrant a second visit.

As for the red hat women, they were loud and boorish - shouting constantly, and performing loud ear-piercing whistles, it was too bad the staff didn't take a stand and ask them to tone it down.
My experince at the Bavaria Restaurant was not great, I would not recommend it and I will not return.

Good Lunch
Submitted Sunday, November 28, 2010 - 11:41pm [Dine in]

3 of us went for a late lunch, the burgers were homemade and served on french bread, they were excellent.
The beef dip was very tasty and the au jus was thicker than usual but very flavorful. Not too many folks there at the time, the service was very good, no complaints. Limited dessert menu, but who needed dessert after that big meal?

Fabulous Dinner
Submitted Friday, October 8, 2010 - 12:06am [Dine in]

Four of us went here for dinner on Tuesday October 5th, we were the only customers for quite a while. Although the restaurant is in an out of the way location, it is very "downtown Vancouver" as far as service and food quality. I found the decor simple but tasteful, it made for a pleasant atmosphere.
The server was attentive, very professional and had a sense of humour. Three of us ordered the same dinner; the chef's special: Salmon with prawns, mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was by far the best salmon dinner we had all eaten in a long time. My daughter; who is not a seafood person, had the peppercorn steak, she said it was cooked just right and tasted delicious. When the chef came around to ask how we were enjoying the meal my daughter said she liked the potatoes the best, the chef then sent out another serving of mashed potatoes for her. This ws very generous and much appreciated.
We splurged on desserts; with pecan pie and creme caramel. They were decadent and very delicious.

All in all we were very impressed and pleased with the meals and service. We will return again when in the city.

Excellent Dinner
Submitted Saturday, August 21, 2010 - 11:18pm [Dine in]

I have been here twice now, and I have been impressed each time with the quality and quantity of the food.
The entrees are served in little copper bowls over a candle heated warmer. I love the fact that your food stays warm, and that there is enough for second helpings or lunch the next day.
Veggie Pakoras made a great appetizer, we ate them up pretty quickly.
We had the Butter Chicken and Chicken Saag each with the Rice Pilau - both were delicious with just the right amount of heat for each of us. We also had Garlic Naan, it was perfect for sopping up the sauce. With 1 soft drink and no dessert our bill was about $40.00.
It is a small venue but with traditional Indian decor it added nicely to the ambiance. It was softly lit and the music was contemporary, not too loud or annoying. The server was pleasant, friendly and attentive.
I will come again and perhaps try out something from the seafood menu.

Beautiful View
Submitted Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 5:40pm [Dine in]

I was here for lunch Sept. 25/09, we opted to sit on the patio, the day was warm and sunny so the view was fantastic. The food was the same as the other Boathouse locations, I always enjoy the coconut shrimp...Mmmmm
The service thought was atrocious, it took forever for our orders to be taken, and our server only came by once, she didn't refill our beverages - even when asked twice she finally brought them after we finished eating!
One server doesn't dampen my opinion of the Boathouse, I still enjoyed the food and ambiance.

Nice Lunch
Submitted Thursday, June 25, 2009 - 1:22pm [Dine in]

We had a nice lunch here. The chicken breast was very moist and tender, the side dishes were fine. I think there could have been a little more barbeque sauce on the chicken for my liking, but it was very delicious.

Since there were only a couple of tables occupied we were seated right away, and served drinks quickly. The server did not, though, come back to offer more drinks during the meal. Another woman came to ask how we liked the meal, and proceeded to take away used dishes. I didn't like this, I would have preferred to have the dises removed at the end of the meal instead.

We were offered tea/coffee and dessert, but did not partake as all the desserts were way too high fat, and selection was very limited.
I liked the decor, it was clean and simple, no carpet or draped to collect dust.
The out door patio is a nice idea, but I wouldn't want to sit at a wooden picnic table. It was raining so it looked dreary. Nice glass tables and umbrellas would be more inviting.
Overall it was nice, the food was good and I think I'll try it for dinner some time.

A tasty experience
Submitted Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 12:37am [Dine in]

We came on the advice of my co-worker; Sarah, who said the pasta was delicious and the servings were huge.

It was not too busy at 2pm on Monday, we were seated right away by the window. The decor was tasteful and the tables well spaced.
Our server was friendly, pleasant and very attentive. Even after it started getting busy she was by frequently to see if we needed anything.

We shared the foccacia, it was light and crispy, just right for oil/balsamic dipping. The pasta was really delicious. We had Penne Antonio and Conchiglie Frutti di Mare. Yes, the servings were hearty and large.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and had no room for dessert.
Our plates were cleared away promptly and our leftovers packaged up quickly and neatly wrapped with plastic bags.
We will return for another lunch or maybe dinner.

Great Place for Filling Meal
Submitted Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 10:46pm [Dine in]

I really enjoyed my meal here. I had the lunch #5 with perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage and coleslaw. It was well prepared, served promptly piping hot. An out-of-the-way place but worth another visit as the prices are reasonable for the amount of food served. The decore was simple yet neat and tidy. Our servers were friendly and professional.

Good lunch for a decent price

We had lunch here and it was a good meal for the money. We ordered a hamburger and the Monte Kristo sandwich both with fries. it was a large hamburger with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The sandwich was very tasty and the fries were crispy, not at all greasy. Our server was very friendly and cheery, which made the visit more pleasant. We had no complaints.

Good location for terrace lunch
Submitted Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - 12:50pm [Dine in]

Stopped here for lunch. Funny we were the only patrons. Sat out on the terrace, beautiful day and we enjoyed the ambiance.
Indoors the decor was simple but tasteful. Tried the garlic prawn appetizer - very nice not overdone.
We had the coconut beer batter fish and chips. Not quite what I expected, I didn't taste the coconut but the fish was flaky and not greasy. Skinny fries - nothing special there. The coleslaw was fresh made and very tasty. Opted for iced tea and have to admit it was refilled just as soon as it was empty - guess it pays to be to the only ones in the restaurant. I think I'd like to come back for dinner just to try some of their specialties

Worth a Second Visit
Submitted Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 12:29am [Dine in]

Stopped in for an early dinner - we were seated right away.
The meal was delicious. The salads were huge, crisp and fresh I agree with another reviewer to have the hot peppers removed, no one eats them. We shared an appetizer - scampi on toast with a really nice sauce. Then we each had a pasta dish, the servings were huge with lots of seafood. Not the quickest wait staff, but polite and helpful. I'm looking forward to another visit.

Definitely Worth a Second Visit
Submitted Monday, June 9, 2008 - 12:20pm [Dine in]

I ate here June 5/08 while staying at the Bayshore. I had a cobb salad that they custom made for me without a blink of an eye. It was the most tasty and satisfying salad I've had in a long time and well worth the price of $15.00. I also indulged in dessert; warm baked granny apple with dried cranberries in a filo pastry cup, it had a few raspberries, blueberries and a strawberry.
This was the best dessert I think I have ever eaten. I would go back just for dessert. Mmmmmm
The prices were a little on the high side, especially for me, but the food and service was well worth the price. The service, well it was just outstanding, my server was friendly, helpful and very attentive. I have not been anywhere that all the staff were all so happy and friendly. It is obvious they enjoy their work and are treated well by their management.
The view was terrific, serene and relaxing despite the rain. I look forward to going here again when the weather is nicer so I can enjoy sitting outdoors on the deck. Hopefully by July we'll have summer weather!

I ate here twice while at a convention at the Bayshore.
The sandwich was very tasty and on nice thick toasted bread, but the soup was just lukewarm.
The second time I had a Greek Wrap and it was good.
I found the prices to be high for what you get, but then again it is a downtown location geared for tourists. The seating was plentiful for such a small place. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to for lunch.

Good Food at a Good Price
Submitted Monday, June 9, 2008 - 11:55am [Dine in]

Tried this restaurant just by chance and found it to be a good choice. The initial phase was a little confusing but we were seated within 10 minutes. The food was delicious and plentiful for the price. We were served quickly and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. I found the belly dancing entertaining but the music was too loud.
Overall I was satisfied with the meal and service and would go here again when in Vancouver.

Reserved for a birthday party and had a good view of the ocean.
Server was very attentive and personable. Quick with cocktails but slow with appetizers and even slower with our meals. Seated at 8pm and served dinner at 10pm. Not the quickest kitchen.
All but 1 meal was excellent. The black cod was not cooked and sent back. I was pleased with the quality and quantity of my dinner; grilled salmon with shrimp and lime butter. All in all it was a nice atmosphere and we were generally all satisfied.

We had a delicious lunch here. We were seated quickly and served just as quick. Shauna was our server and she did an excellent job. The food was artfully prepared and very tasty.
I especially enjoyed the vietnamese spring rolls and the spinach salad with strawberries and goat cheese. The decor was simple and very tasteful, it would be nice in the summer with the patio doors open or to sit out doors.
Although not a "cheap" lunch we enjoyed the food and will come again, maybe for dinner.

Lunch was Only Okay
Submitted Tuesday, March 25, 2008 - 7:54pm [Dine in]

Service was verrrry slow. I realize there was only 1 server, but only 1 other table was occupied when we came in. The server was very friendly and polite and topped up hot water promptly.

The food was okay, nothing great. I had baked spaghetti with mushrooms. My daughter was not too impressed with the pizza, she would have preferred Pizza Hut. The washroom was in back by the storage room, the whole area was not very clean and there was a bad fish smell. The kitchen was not clean either from what I saw, if I'd seen it sooner we would not have eaten there.
Sorry we will not return here.

Nice Decor, Excellent Dinner
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 4:04am [Dine in]

I have driven by here many times and finally decided to give it a try. Thought it might be busy but we went early on a Saturday evening. There was plenty of parking and when we went in we were seated immediately. Menus were prompt and drinks too.
Menu was not extensive but gave a fair selection of a variety of different items. I started with the Lobster Melt - it was enough for 2 to share and very delicious. I had a steak, which was excellently cooked and served with mashed potatoes and crispy asparagus. We shared an apple pie with ice cream - this was just too good. Our server was friendly and very prompt. Best meal I've had in a while, and worth the drive to Langley.
I will definately return here, and I recommend others try it too.

I agree with the majority of ratings. Food was only just okay, not anything special. I really love noodles and pasta and this was very disappointing. The fried dumplings were quite good. This is not a place I would have chosen, and had it not been for the newspaper reviews I would not have even ventured in. We tried the Main & 25th location. I will not return here.
