A place to go if you're in the mood for unique Japanese sushi food
Submitted Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - 7:00pm [Dine in]

I came here because I bought one of those buy low deals at tastygo.com. I paid $5.00 at the website that this Asuka Sushi advertised on and the deal is, $5.00 will get you $15.00 worth of food.

Sorry I'm skipping ahead here but I was first greeted by ALL of the staff in unison when I first came in. I like that. I believe alot of the sushi bars do that. It's a nice feel. Mind you I was the only one there at 1pm at the time. I had to park on the side alley so terrible parking situation unless you don't mind paying for meter parking.

I showed them my tastygo.com voucher and no questions asked. Tea is complimentary and so is the miso soup, even though it may have been the packaged stuff in a giant pot and add water. I'm not sure though. I checked out the menu and it is quite varied. Jonathan is the owner, I'm guessing, and he was on site at the time. Jonathan did have to explain the tastygo.com deal to his server but no worries. I ordered the Bento Box Sashimi, with chicken teriyaki, sprouts and rice, with two pieces of salmon and tuna sashimi each, House salad which was very tasty and refreshing, and two gyoza, quite tasty. I also ordered one california roll on the side. My bill was $2.35 after all was said and done. Value for money, not bad but the food was good. I will go back if they have the deal again.

Great family run business
Submitted Friday, November 6, 2009 - 6:40pm [Dine in]

I love looking for unique and good restaurants. I love to support local and family run businesses. I just happened to be in the neighbourhood and I was STARVING. Little did I know that I would order waaaay too much.
The quality of the sashimi is excellent and unlike some places it was actually at a good temperature and not frozen. The portions are incredible. I was very surprised that they accepted credit cards. Usually places like this keep their prices low by not accepting credit cards and go the "CASH ONLY" route. I've recommended this place to all my colleagues and family. Try it out, just don't go during lunch time, they get massive business from the High School next door.
