What is happening?
Submitted Thursday, February 10, 2011 - 12:53pm [Dine in]

Does anyone know what is happening? Are they opening again, or what?

Have gone to Happy King for years, always thought it was a great Chinese diner and now it is closed since probably September 2010. Seems a little long to wait for a renovation. I hope they open again so I can get some of those great "prawn wontons noodle in soup"

Fabulous Food / No Furnace
Submitted Friday, January 2, 2009 - 6:14pm [Dine in]

A great Italian eatery in West Vancouver, food is excellent, wait staff is very good, ambience is cute, everything is great except they dont have any furnace heat - food is hot, but the restaurant is not - on these cold winter nights. Peter the owner brought us an under the table electrical heater which made things much better. I have to admit they did everything possible to make our stay as warm as they could, and even apologized for the cold. We have been here in pleasant weather and it has been 100%. I still give this restaurant big thumbs up for great italian.

Just not for me
Submitted Wednesday, October 22, 2008 - 10:54am [Dine in]

We went to a dinner for a friends birthday. We ordered dinner as a group, and my wife and I ordered seafood pasta. Finally after 45 minutes, our meal came and the pasta and mussels were there and that was it. The manager came by and my wife told him that the seafood was missing - his curt retort was that she must have eaten it. This was upsetting to me, that he disrespected my wife and I approached him to say that his response was not in keeping with customer service - he almost hit me. Needless to say, I sent an email to the Manger and President of the Boathouse. Got a letter of apology from the Manger, a $50 gift certificate (which was $30 less than the cost of our meal) and excuses as to the problems the restaurant was having in the kitchen that night. The problem was not the kitchen..anyone can make a mistake - the problem was in the surley and confrontational attitude of the Manager. We went back with the gift certificate, and the bad taste for this restaurant completed it's journey (another story). I will not patronize this, or any other Boathouse, ever again.

Good Good Greek
Submitted Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 9:32am [Dine in]

Greek family operated probably since the 70's. Thye always make you feel like you belong in their home. Sit you down, make you feel welcome, bring on the roast lamb. Great seafood platters, kalamari, chicken, mousaka - jst great food, ambience, price and welcoming staff. Food is always consistant and good value. Have dined here many times over the years and have always left with a smile.

Great Sushi/Sashimi Hit
Submitted Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 9:23am [Dine in]

For those true sushi connoisseurs, a real experience. Wife and husband run, excellent food, excellent price, funny ambience, just a great little place to go. Tucked away at 19 and Lonsdale this little space reminds me of lunch and dinner in Asia. It is not fine dining - light, easy, and just great value for primo quality sushi sashimi.

Everything is good, except
Submitted Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 9:09am [Dine in]

I have visited this restaurant many times; my wife and I dine out a lot - the food and wait staff is good....the french female hostess is something else. I don't think I have ever been treated so badly. She is rude, condescending and unprofessional - I will never go back.
I was abrupted by her once, and my wife suggested I give them another chance - I did...it was months later, she did not see me hiding behind the door and she was rude to my wife and my wifes friend, reservations do not mean anything to this restaurant, confirmed table does not mean anything, move you to another table after you have started your dining is ok with them. I called the owner later and he didnt really care. Nice way to treat your customers - no more of my money - too many good restaurant choices - never aginn.
