Long's Noodle House4853 Main Street, Vancouver
Favourite Shanghai Place

Food: Their steamed bun dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) are some of the best I've had and a must try if you go. It's very juicy and the wrap is not that thick. I also liked their drunken chicken. It was very tender and flavourful.

Service: The service was quick and friendly. The waitress has a great memory and takes the order by memorizing it instead of writing it down. They are fluent in english and mulitple dialect of chinese, so it's nice to take out of town guest here. While I don't feel rushed by the waitress there, I do feel like I should eat quickly due to the large amount of people there at times and the small space.

Value: Not the cheapest asian meal you can get, but the value is great for the quality of food you get.

Ambiance: It's not the prettiest looking place but it is clean. It is a little cramped sometimes. I would recommend trying to go at a time when you can avoid the lunch crowd.

Sushi Garden4269 Lougheed Hwy, Burnaby
Decent food, Poor service
Submitted Monday, December 26, 2011 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

Haven't been in in a few months, but when I did, the food was at a pretty good portion for its size. Their alaska roll is one of my favourite. Parking is limited in this area unless you want to risk parking at staples or pay for street parking. This place is usually pretty packed and the lineup could take awhile. The service is the one thing that is lacking in this place. I've had a waitress visably and loudly sighed when we asked ot order more food, then walked away without a word to get the pen and pad to take our order. Also had once waited close to 45 min after ordering the food with no explanation until the food arrived (the cashier was malfuntioning was the reason given). The tea is very seldom refilled and the majority of the time service ranges from rude to just severely lacking in presence.

Take Sushi4528 Hastings Street, Burnaby
Good sushi

I often get take out from Take Sushi, and their quality has been consistently good. Their cooked (kitchen) items may take a little longer, but they do usually have my food ready in the time they state (usually about 15-20 minutes). In the few times that I did have to wait for my food after arriving, they always offer me tea. Their soft shell crab is one of the better ones I've tried. While not the cheapest deal in town, their quality more than makes up for it.

Kintaro Ramen788 Denman Street, Vancouver
Favourite Ramen Place
Submitted Monday, December 26, 2011 - 11:11pm [Dine in]

Food: While they do not have as many different types of soups as other Ramen places, the ones they have are favourful. I had the miso ramen and it was one of the best ones I've had. I especially like the noodle's texture and taste.

Service: Service was prompt and friendly. My water was filled out without having to ask, which was nice.

Value: The portion you get for the price is pretty filling for me. The cheese ramen often leaves me stuffed.

Ambiance: It's not the nicest looking place, but I think the decor fits with ramen experience.

Overall: While this is my favourite ramen place, I don't think it is head and shoulders above the others around the area that I would wait in the long line up it sometimes have if the alternatives don't require waiting. Luckily, the turnover is pretty quick and a lineup of a few people usually doesn't take very long.
