Had a great night
Submitted Sunday, April 11, 2010 - 11:15am [Dine in]

I went here with my friends last week. We had a great time. The teppanyaki chef was funny and friendly and he put on a good show.

Food was filling. Our meal started with soup. My friends and I agreed that it was good. Everybody also got some prawns. I ordered steak and tiger prawns for myself. They were awesome! I also liked the sauces, one for the meat and seafood, and the ginger sauce for the vegetables. You also get unlimited rice.

Compared to Kobe's, Osaka is affordable. Even more affordable if you've got your Entertainment card, which we did.

Good AYCE
Submitted Monday, August 17, 2009 - 4:33pm [Dine in]

This is a good AYCE. $21 for AYCE dinner. Korean menu is VERY limited though, no more than 5 items on the menu.

Although not authentic, since it's only half an oyster (heck, this is AYCE so I can order as many half-oysters as I can) and it's not in a shell, I still love their oyster motoyaki. Spicy tuna sashimi was good. The first order was a miss though, because it was still a little bit frozen. But hey, there's a grill in front of us so that was okay. All the rolls were good.

Service was just okay. Could be improved. There's a staffing problem, there's only a few of them working on a busy night. The waitress spilled out drinks twice. But that was alright. I'm guessing she's new and we're not that type of customer who would make a big deal out of it.

I am happy customer and will keep coming back.

Hmmmm... Delicious Butter Chicken!
Submitted Monday, August 17, 2009 - 4:21pm [Dine in]

I had a chance to go to this place 2 months ago, suggested by my boyfriend's brother who just lives a few blocks away.

I ordered butter chicken and rice and naan bread. The butter chicken was awesome!!!! Surely one of the best. Naan bead was served hot as they had a naan oven by the counter. Only one complain, the rice was not so fresh and they just warmed it up inside the microwave oven.

Service was minimal as it was mostly a take-out joint (I think). It's a small place, no more than 6 tables. You order and pay up front then you wait till they bring your order to the table. The guy at the counter was friendly and checked up on us and asked if everything was alright. You get your own water too.

If you need a quick GOOD fix for your butter chicken craving, this is a place to go.

Nothing spectacular
Submitted Saturday, May 16, 2009 - 10:45am [Dine in]

Food and Value: Food is just okay. But the amount of food they give you is not worth the price you're paying. For two people, we paid approximately $100.00. Or maybe because we're also paying to watch the chef's performance? Well, when we went there for my friend's birthday, our chef sucked! Totally not worth it.

Ambiance is okay. It's dim-lighted. It's a little crowded.

Service: It's hard to catch the server's attention. It took sometime before I could have a single fork. We had to fill our cups ourselves. Good thing the jug of water was just behind us.

My Relish Experience
Submitted Friday, April 10, 2009 - 12:17pm [Dine in]

"Relish Experience" is what they call their three-course menu. The price is different every night. Because we went on a Thursday night, it was $25.

The food was a joke. Between the walnut crusted salmon and mocha sirloin, our server Ryan recommended the sirloin. So that's what I ordered. It was big FAIL! I should've just ordered the salmon.

I guess the ambiance was okay for a restaurant slash lounge.

On the other hand, the service was excellent. Ryan was very accomodating and knows the drinks and food menus very well. It's because of Ryan that's why I'm giving this restaurant a 5-star rating for service.

If I ever go downtown to go to a restraurant/lounge, Relish would not be my first choice, or second, or third...

I like it here... Excellent service!
Submitted Wednesday, April 8, 2009 - 9:09am [Dine in]

The moment we walked in, we were greeted and given a menu. Maybe ebcause were the only ones in the restaurant at that time.

I like their menu. It's a little extensive compared to other Japanese restaurants. The review below is right, they make excellent deep fried stuff.

Since we werent really hungry and just wanted to try the place because of the reviews from this website, we just ordered appetizers to share. Me and the boyfriend shared spicy tuna roll, deep fried scallops with tonkatzu sauce, shrimp balls with sweet and spicy sauce, and the gyoza. Everything was excellent except the gyoza. It seemed like it was frozen. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki. It was better compared to the other sushi place 4 doors down.

The ambiance was good too. There are booths available too. And the place is tidy.

I'm definitely coming back.

I can't complain
Submitted Thursday, March 19, 2009 - 12:00pm [Dine in]

I saw this plce when we were looking for Future Shop. We decided to drive back and give it a try, since me, the boyfriend and my sister all love fish and chips.

The food is very good. I agree with the first poster, they give generous portions. I always order the halibut platter. It includes one hot bun with butter, one piece of halibut, 3 (or 4) prawns, 2 pcs of oysters and chips. The oysters are fantastic!! If they think one of the oysters is small, they would add one more. But (there's alsways a "but"), I've had better tartar sauce.

All the times that we've been there and it was busy, we were greeted and seated right away. The food is always served in a timely manner. But sometimes, the servers are too shy. But it's ok.

AYCE fish and chips for $11 and the the platters with generous portions, I think it's good value. That's why we keep coming back.

Overall, I recommend people to go there.

My Favorite AYCE
Submitted Saturday, February 28, 2009 - 10:00am [Dine in]

I miss going to Kingsway Sushi.

The host and the servers already recognize us. We always come here for the Late Night AYCE. It's good value. The beef teriyaki is good, the chicken teriyaki is even better because of it's crispy skin. Love the deep fried scallop and the sauce. I also always get the BBQ beef short ribs. The miso soup is also good.

I will go back soon.

Definitely coming back

I only tried this restaurant because of all the positive reviews from this website. I wasn't disappointed.

We went there for dim sum. The server was very friendly. She took the time to explain to us each item on her cart. The shrimp spring roll was still hot when it was served, crispy and it was very good. I also had pork dumplings. Oh, I had lots of them. The fried rice was also good.

We're definitely going back.

Boathouse redeemed itself
Submitted Saturday, February 28, 2009 - 9:30am [Dine in]

We came here for Dine Out on a Sunday night. The restaurant was packed. Despite having a reservation, we were seated after an hour of waiting.

While waiting, we're brought bellinis. The host was very pleasant, and very apologetic. The manager offered us free appetizers, sweet chili chicken and calamari. The manager came back apologizing for the wait.

I ordered lobster bisque, steak & crab stuffed jumbo prawns and cheesecake. They're all very good. The stuffed jumbo prawns were the best I've had in a long time. My boyfriend the halibut dinner. It was made to perfection.

The server was very attentive. It was just hard to call her attention since it was a very busy Sunday night.

Food was great, but be prepared to wait an hour or so if it's really busy.

A Very Good Sushi Place
Submitted Friday, February 27, 2009 - 7:29pm [Dine in]

I just saw the take-out menu, and decided to give a try, since it's only a 2-minute drive from home.

We were seated right away. It's a small sushi place, but it has a nice ambiance. Very neat.

Our server was pleasant. The food didn't take that long. We ordered spicy tuna roll and prawn tempura for appetizers. The tempura was good, but the spicy tuna roll was the best. It's the best spicy tuna roll I've ever had. For the main course, I ordered steak and rice with miso soup. Miso soup was a so-so, it's a little bit salty. Steak was very good. It was juicy, and came with a special sauce. My boyfriend ordered chicken teriyaki, and he liked it. They give generous servings that my boyfriend had to help me finish my food.

Just a little bit pricy compared to other sushi joints. But overall, I can't complain. We're definitely going back.
