A favorite always
Submitted Monday, August 23, 2010 - 8:04pm [Dine in]

A great place to watch any game and have a drink with freinds. We enjoy hanging out on the bar side opposed to the restaurant side. We've enjoyed many Friday evenings watching hockey and baseball on the many television sets. The beer is great, in particular the cask conditioned IPA. The calamari and edamame are our favorite snacks. The pizzas are very good as well.

great atmosphere
Submitted Friday, August 20, 2010 - 10:47pm [Dine in]

Radha has a great atmosphere, with hardwood floors and exposed brick in a big, open space. The live folk music really added to the relaxing, calm feel of the place. It's also such a treat to go out for dinner on a friday night and not have to fight the crowds or feel rushed.

The food was tasty and presented well, and normally I would give it a "3," but when comparing it to other vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Vancouver (like the foundation), the quality of the food really rises above. Therefore, I'm giving the food a "4."

Nice little spot!

great little place
Submitted Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 10:13pm [Dine in]

Great little place haven't gone in a while since moving out of the area, but it's been an enjoyable experience everytime. like the name says, soup is the mainstay of the place. they are all made from scratch, and have a variety to choose from, all very tasty! if you are unsure of what soup you want, the owner/chef will gladly ladle you a little of each kind of soup for you to try. they also have a nice selection of sandwiches, and offer the usuals, bagles, lasagna, etc. they also have a really nice salad(great homemade house dressing and good portions). i guess what really makes this place beyond the food is the friendly mom and pop service that offers a little oasis for the lunchtime crowd.

The best smoked meaton the west coast
Submitted Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 12:42am [Dine in]

I have never had a smoked m eat eggs benny. To my surprise, it was quite good. We got our food very quickly and overall everything was well done. The prices are reasonable especially for the area this restaurant is in.

when I am craving smoked meat, I will definitely return if I am in the area

WOW
Submitted Saturday, August 14, 2010 - 10:31am [Dine in]

Mona's is one of those places you can truly unwind and enjoy after a hard day's work. We were first greeted with the sweet, faint, incense-like, smell of flavoured tobacco permeating from the adjoining smoking room. We had the fortune of sitting next to the open dance floor, because it's also belly dancing night.

The food was awesome. There was this "feast" deal, where you can get an appetizer and main course for two people for 50$. There are also a good selection of wine, and other exotic dishes, all reasonably priced.

Came 9 pm, the belly dancer finally appeared! Her volanic enthusiasm was contagious. Her stint, however, was too short-lived. One of the guests told us, that Saturday would be the best night to pay Mona's a visit

love bbq
Submitted Friday, August 13, 2010 - 10:12am [Dine in]

i passed by on this past weekend, and a server was offering samples of sangria and pulled bbq chicken with coleslaw. I sampled the chicken and decided that I would have lunch here on the patio.

They were offering a terrific special of a half chicken or a half-order of pork ribs with a side dish for $8. I ordered the ribs with roasted potatoes (and an additional mixed green side salad).

The salad arrived first, a large generous bowl of fresh leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and shredded carrots, dressed lightly with a vinagrette. It was fresh, crisp and tasty.

The pork ribs with roasted fingerling potatoes arrived shortly after. The ribs were tender and delicious with a sweet tangy sauce, and the potatoes were roasted just right.

The servers were very attentive and friendly. And the patio atmosphere was excellent (it helped that it was a sunny day)

Alot better than most
Submitted Thursday, August 12, 2010 - 8:51am [Dine in]

Food: We had the spinach dip, which was AMAZING. The burger was good as well, a lot better than the White Spot ones.

Service: We were seated promptly and the service was really really good. The servers were very attentive.

Value: It's pretty cheap, but it's around the same price as Milestones and this is WAY better!

Ambiance: The interior is nice, but we had a window seat that overlooked the parking lot. Not so nice, but it can't be helped.

I will DEFINITELY return! This place is great for dates! =)

amazing! breath of fresh air from all the ayce places that have tainted the quality of japanese food in the lower mainland. a testament to the quality of the sushi colud be the japanese businessmen eating at the sushi bar while on a couple hours layover in vancouver on their way back to tokyo.

My husband and I have just had dinner at Nu and were very impressed with all aspects. We were greeted with a friendly hello and taken immediately to a table by the window. Our server promptly provided water and asked for our drink order. The service was excellent--informative, friendly and helpful. The food was also outstanding. We particularly liked the Gruyere Cheese Soup and the Duck Confit. The special dish of ravioli suffed with seafood was particularly outstanding--perfectly cooked seafood in a perfectly cooked pasta case. We were a little hesitant to try Nu again (we had been there last February) after reading the reviews, but were very pleasantly surprised and will go again. (The goat chesse stuffed chicken wings are also excellent.) As for the ambience, our chairs were comfortable and there was no loud music to interfere with conversation. I like the green neon and the decor generally.

The price is RIGHT!
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 8:39am [Dine in]

For the past year I have been going to Toshi's once a week, sometimes twice. I have never been disappointed with my choices. The staff is very friendly and always remember me and my favourite dishes. The spicy agedashi tofu is amazing...and the house roll is a must. Be ready to wait for a table...and try to keep your group small. The larger the group the longer the wait for you and the other guests waiting to dine. The food is definitely above average...and the price is very affordable
