This weekend we wanted to try a new restaurant in Yaletown and stumbled upon Cioppino's. The menu looked appealing and we both love beef carppacio so we were hooked. It was a busy evening but luckily they managed to find us a table on the patio. I have dined in several high end restaurants before but I just found the experience to be pretentious and the prices over inflated. Although I ordered the carpaccio and enjoyed it, I didn't think it was worth almost $20 nor was a small bowl of pasta worth $25.
After reading the previous reviews, I was a little nevous about visiting this establishment. However, we were looking for a place that was showing the UFC and thought we'd give this place a try. We were pleasantly surprised. They were very busy so the service wasn't as attentive as it could have been, but we only went to watch the UFC and have a decent meal, which is what we got. I think we got the best seat in the house, had a great view of the many tvs and had a great meal.
Zenberry is a great coffee shop which recently opened in Pitt Meadows. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but the loose teas are wonderful and the hot chocolates are fabulous. The cookies are also delicious but I haven't tried the yogurt yet.
The owner, Skye, is really lovely and I wish him all the best! Check out their website www.zenberry.ca.
We've been going to GM restaurant for 4 years now and order take out almost weekly. The service is a little slow but the owner is lovely and always remembers us. He always asks about my husband and our kids. The restaurant is lacking in decor but don't eat it anyway. It's a lot better since they expanded into the restaurnt they have now.
We are both English and love the European style of the dishes. My husband's favourite dish is lamb dansak which many curry houses have never heard of. We always order the same items so can't vouch for all entrees, but we love their garlic naan and GM rice.
I would highly recommend this restaurant but leave lots of time if you're going to eat in and give them an extra 15 minutes on the quoted take out collection time!
We used to eat at this restaurant regularly when it was formerly Seasons Bistro so we thought we'd give the Firehall Bistro a try. We tried several starters, had mains and dessert plus several drinks including a bottle of wine and the bill totalled $130 which we thought was quite good value.
On the negative side, this used to be my favourite restaurant for special occasions. It had an extensive drinks menu and the atmosphere was intimate/romantic with a wonderful host. Although not really fair to compare two separate restaurants, The Firehall Bistro was too brightly lit and has lost the wonderful ambience that was once there. The drinks menu was also disappointing. It also seems strange to me that the awnings and signage are still displaying Seasons Bistro and they could have chosen a less tacky restaurant name.
I will visit this restaurant again but it won't feel as special.
We ate at this restaurant for lunch today and really enjoyed ourselves. We got a great spot on the patio and the beautiful sunny day topped it off. i had the beef stir fry which was good although the sauce was a little too thick. My husband had the tuna steak which came with a sesame seed crust. They were a little on the burnt side so when he complained, the waiter apologized and brought a new steak and couldn't have been nicer about it.
We visited this restaurant on several occasions and thought it was wonderful. We are very sad to hear that it has since closed. The menu was varied and offered some truly great appys and entrees. The host was a lovely man and the food was amazing. Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge has lost it's best restaurant for sure.
We visited this restaurant for breakfast this morning and ordered the eggs benny with crab and the breakfast mix - standard breakfast fare. We had to wait almost an hour for our food to arrive but the presentation was pretty good. My husband was pleased with his eggs benny but my breakfast was just okay. The poached eggs were sitting in a pool of water and were over cooked, the sausages were of poor quality and I swapped the hash browns for fruit and received a few small pieces of strawberry and pineapple. I also asked for ketchup and it still had not arrived when we requested the bill. The service was very slow and disappointing, and I would not go there again.
