Yummy bubbletea!
Submitted Friday, November 5, 2010 - 10:46pm [Take-out]

There is a large variety of bubble tea here and different types to add to your drink like pearl, coconut jelly, passionfruit pearl, etc. The passionfruit pearl is really good and unique because I haven't seen it anywhere else. The people working there are efficient. The pricing is good compared to other bubble tea places.

Regretted coming here
Submitted Friday, November 5, 2010 - 10:41pm [Catering]

Food: Of the dishes in the set dinner I only liked ONE thing and that was the fried tofu which I could eat anywhere. The rest of the dishes were small portions and not very good. The salad dressing was way too sour. The fish after cutting with a knife we found to be a bit undercooked as the flesh was still stuck to the bone. We asked the waitress to check on it for us and she returned with the dish saying that the chefs insisted it was fully cooked. Eating it I felt the fish was slimy and definitely undercooked. They wouldn't accept our complaint. The food wasn't anything special that you can't find at other Chinese restaurants.

Service: Poor, the food came extremely slowly. Approximately 15 minutes at least between each course being served. We brought a birthday cake there and it was in the shape of a cartoon character's face, the waiter placed the candle RIGHT in the middle of the face where the nose was supposed to be. That ruined the whole face shape of the cake. I don't understand why they didn't think of putting the candle on the hat part of the face.

Value: Perhaps the worst is the pricing. For the food and service it was extremely overpriced. At $80 per person I was not even full after the meal. I was still hungry.

Overall I would never come again and definitely will discourage friends from trying it in the future. For the price there are many good restaurants in Vancouver.

worst food i've had in a long time
Submitted Friday, July 9, 2010 - 3:32pm [Dine in]

i ordered a curry pork with rice. The curry was watery and not at all like the Japanese curry that's usually served at good restaurants. The food seemed like it was microwaved because it was not even warm, it was almost cold. Ordering pork, i expected a pork chop like in the picture but what came was the type of meat that is thinly sliced for hot pot. It was all bunched together and cooked very poorly like it had just been boiled to ensure that it wasn't raw and that was it. No skill required. I had to call several times because the waitresses noticed. They were all standing in a group chatting away and not even noticing the customer. The order came slowly and after the long wait I was served with such poor food. Not to mention the price is not cheap for the kind of food served which is low quality. All in all I will never come back again and I would never recommend anyone to eat here. The food court at Parker Place serves much better food than this restaurant.

More please!
Submitted Saturday, December 12, 2009 - 4:41pm [Dine in]

Food- The food was so good! We ordered beef, pork and chicken. I tried cow tongue bbq for the first time and at first I was not sure about trying it but after I did I can say that it tastes very good. It just tastes like regular beef. The kalbi (high quality beef) was very tender and only needed a few seconds on each side on the grill since it was cut in a nice size. The grill gives the meat a nice taste.

Service- The staff was helpful but since it was a small restaurant there was only 2 waitresses working on the floor and one would have to wait awhile before being served. But the food came very fast after being ordered.
It was my friend's birthday and when we ordered dessert they came out with a lit candle and dimmed the lights to sing happy birthday which was nice.

Value- This is not a cheap restaurant, the food is on the pricey side but you get good food for what you pay. Just be prepared for the receipt to be on the pricey side.

Ambiance- I felt that the place was clean. The grills were changed halfway through our dinner and the meat was placed very neatly on the dish without leaving the blood everywhere.

All in all I'd like to go back, the only thing holding me back would be the price which is worth it though.

Yummy Malteser Bubbletea
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 11:49pm [Dine in]

Bubble Queen has a good selection of snacks and drinks. My favorite is the malteser bubbletea, this is the only place of which I know that it is sold. Although a bit on the heavy side, this drink uses a whole package of Maltesers blended together and has a few whole Malteser pieces at the top that will melt when your drink is near finished.
The gyozas were made from freezed packages but they were made very hot and quite good.
All in all this is a nice small place for gatherings and light snacks.

Did not like it at all
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 11:41pm [Dine in]

right when you enter you are greeted with a strange smell from the restaurant perhaps from the wood of the aging building

food: very bad. the cream spaghetti was very oily and the fried chicken wings tasted strange, as if it wasn't chicken at all. everything just felt very greasy.

service: poor. the woman serving us was always seen around chatting with other waiters and we had to call several times before the person she was talking to would notice us and then tell her to come help us. also when we presented our 10% off coupon she gave us this attitude as if she would rather not help us because we weren't paying full price.

value: bad food so its not worth paying for

ambiance: the seats and table felt like they haven't been wiped or cleaned in awhile. everything gave a very old feeling.

i definitely would not go back.

the usual
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 11:37pm [Dine in]

starbucks is suppose to be like any other but some places are better because they're not so busy so they have more time to make their drinks etc

this one was one of the few with not that many people
i ordered a strawberry lemonade blended ice (i believe that was what it was called) and it tasted pretty good
the lady who made the drink was very nice and offered to make another one for me if i didn't like it (although i'm told they do this at other starbucks but i've nvr tried)

i was able to sit and chat with my friend inside the nicely airconditioned starbucks until i finished my drink which was nice on a hot summer day

food: we ordered a combo dinner with 4 dishes and a soup
all of the food was great and very hot
the sweet and sour pork was especially delicious and not greasy feeling

service: food came very quickly and the people were quick to change our dishes after certain dishes that may have left bones

ambiance: i went after it was renovated so it was good and clean to me. on the outside it doesn't look that good but inside it was perfectly fine

Pho 99 Vietnamese Noodle House8611 Alexandra Road, #180, Richmond
nothing special
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 11:27pm [Dine in]

right when i walked in i was expecting at least 1-2 tables of people already there but i found no one in the restaurant.
the whole time i was at pho 99 no other customer came in and we were the only table the whole time

so we ordered our food and it came pretty quickly which was good (but wouldn't' expect it to be slow since we were the only customers)
the food was all right, the beef wasn't piece by piece it was in clumps so i'm guessing the chef didn't take the time to pull the thinly sliced pieces of beef apart. i've had better Vietnamese noodles.

when i was done i had to call a few times for the lady to come give us our bill because she was too busy talking on the phone with her friend which didn't seem to be very good service
all in all i wouldn't go back.

Submitted Sunday, January 25, 2009 - 8:07pm [Dine in]

i came here for a party of 15 and i booked beforehand so i was expecting better seating but they gave us one fairly small table for 13 of us (we were quite squished and there were only 2 bbq places) and another table for 2. we tried to get them to give us another table but they wouldn't.

we ordered all you can eat bbq. the food came very slowly and since our table was small there was no place for dirty dishes to be put yet they never came by to get it unless we asked repeatedly. that was the same with food, we had to ask repeatedly for refill of kimchi dishes or other food. overall it was pretty bad and slow.

there were only 27 choices of food and only a few selection of meat. 27 may sound like a lot but most of it is vegetables. the selection was quite limited and we found ourselves eating the same food over and over.

the bbq cooked really slowly so we didn't get to eat much food as the food cooked very slowly.

I love their ribs!
Submitted Sunday, August 31, 2008 - 7:21pm [Dine in]

I went for dinner.
Food- The food was awesome. I ordered a platter of ribs (which includes 3 sides) and a special of the day (mine was salmon that day). The beef ribs were my favourite and the mac and cheese was very good too. I'd go back for sure!

Service- The people working there were very nice and helpful but I didn't give it a very high rating because the food came very slow. We had to wait half and hour for it. Maybe they were just busy that day.

Value- Some items were kind of expensive but it's not too bad. I'd pay the money for the food though.

Ambiance- Since I went for dinner, it was dark in the restaurant with dim lights. All the tables were full and everyone seemed very happy.

I love their pizza!
Submitted Sunday, August 31, 2008 - 7:16pm [Dine in]

Flying Wedges is my favourite pizza place!

Food- Awesome! There is a wide selection of pizza to choose from and the portion is quite big. One slice of pizza fills the entire plate. I'm happy everytime I go there.

Service- It's good, depends on who's working that day but overall they will get you what you want.

Value- Some pizzas were slightly expensive but if you order pizza of the day then it's alright. Plus there's free water.

Ambiance- Looks like a pizza place! Clean, no bugs or anything. Everytime I'm there someone's wiping something.

I will not try it again!
Submitted Sunday, August 31, 2008 - 7:10pm [Dine in]

Food- I ordered 2 items, a Pad Sew stir fried noodles and a beef skewer. Firstly, the noodles were hard (they're suppose to be soft) and tasted kind of like plastic to me. There were pieces of scrambled eggs that has absorbed with lots of the sauce. The sauce was overly sweet. There was also broccoli and shrimp in the noodles. The shrimp was not fresh at all (yes this is a food court place, what do I expect? But the standard of the shrimp was bad), it was wet like it has been dunked in water for a long time. Isn't it suppose to be somewhat dry after it was been stir fried?

Service- Poor because I wanted to order a beef skewer and I had to repeat myself many, many, many times before the cashier understood what I was trying to order. That required a lot of shouting on my part because the kitchen was very loud and she kept shouting back at me "What?! What?!"
THEN I had to wait for 15 minutes to get my skewer (my noodles were already done by this point). This is probably the longest I've ever had to wait for my food at a food court! The service was very slow. So the person FINALLY got me my skewer. But guess what? It wasn't even beef! She gave me a CHICKEN skewer when I specifically ordered beef. She said that I would have to wait another 10 minutes for a beef skewer. I was too fed up at that point to argue so I just took the chicken skewer.
Value- I paid about $9 for the noodles and $2 for the skewer. The noodles were definitely not worth the price because it did not taste good at all (as I already mentioned in Food). The skewer was alright if you aren't expecting too much but I've had better skewers.
Ambiance- Poor again because the people saw me there standing for 15 minutes for my skewer and I had to repetitively ask for my skewer until they gave it to me. The chef was shouting in his LOUD voice across half of the food court for the woman to come get her plate of noodles. It was a very loud bellowing voice and I thought it was rude to be yelled at for your food. People were staring.

It may sound very objective that I'm giving 1's for all the ratings but this is truly the worst food court experience I've ever had and I was very upset with it.
