Great authentic tacos
Submitted Thursday, August 2, 2012 - 5:13pm [Dine in]

You come to a place like this for the authentic tacos, burritos ect...you usually put up with the service. While they are extremely friendly - the place is family run- you can have a bit of a wait for service when its busy, so be patient...it's worth it. And its getting busier as the neighbourhood figures out how good the food is. Tacos are the best bet - make sure you try the chorizqueso - chorizo sausage and cheese. The shrimp are also amazing. Actually I can't think of a bad choice. Most are $2 a piece. I find 4-6 make a meal and you get taco chips to start. A cold beer is a must with these.

As a rule, I avoid chain hotel restaurants. They tend to be overpriced and low quality, especially unbranded one-offs like Harolds. But Harolds is the exception. Someone in the kitchen seems to actually care - the food is well preparred and good quality. Try the hungarian goulash on fettucini, Lamb shank or the rueben on rye with sauerkraut. hot dog is pretty good too, add chili or pulled pork. Not the cheapest place in town but decent value for the quality you get. Drinks seem a bit pricey. Decent bar food too - huge wings. The best part is the courtyard patio in the summer. Its full of trees and flowers near the pool, so you feel like you're on holiday and its quiet. Also, say Hi to Harold, the restaurants namesame if you see him,. He's there every day by himself usually sitting in a window. You can't miss him because his picture is all over the place.

Go for the location and ambience - not for great food or service

No complaints from me - this is a fun place. Watch the seaplanes take off and enjoy the air terminal atmophere. Sure the service can be on the slow side, and the food is average, but they are friendly enough and I've never really had a terrible experience. I've been going for years and there's no place like it Richmond. There are really much worse choices for pubs.

Love the lounge here. Solid talent, good apps, quick service. Also a the patio is one of the few in Richmond you get sun on, but the view is basically the highway and parking lot, but it'll do. Good appys and usually have some kind of rotating feature menu and daily drinks.

Great high end dining in Richmond

Been here twice now. Both times delivered a solid food, atmophere and service experience. Yes it's pricey, but no more than what you would pay downtown Vancouver. This is definately for a special occaision. Steve the waiter is worth requesting - he's a pro. Crabcake appy was great. So was the gnocchi. Another member of our party had Wagyu beef - good, but not worth the extra money. Nice to have an quality upscale italian style restaurant in Richmond.

Been coming here since mid-ninties. Reliable food and service, albeit a bit of an old building which could use a spruce up. Servers are professional and friendly and they always look after us. I've been to some newer flashier restaurants in Richmond recently and they can't deliver the same consistent service and food. Definatly watch for Lobster and Crab Festivals because they are the best value, and they run a coupon sometimes. Good for special occasions.

Really nice room. I mean really nice. Its too bad the food and service aren't up to par. Seafood fritter appetizer tasted like Captain Highliner fish cakes. Steaks (handcut) were suprisingly ordinary. Server was amateurish. Manager came by once to talk to us, which should have been nice, but his timing was poor. He interuppted us and his shirt was half untucked and he seemed in a hurry. He chattered away at us for a few minutes and moved on to the next table. There is much better value at this end at the Keg or Boathouse, even though the dining room is much much nicer here. It is really just too expensive unless they can improve on the product they are delivering.

I always like the pizza here. Costs a little more but worth it. The waitress told me the store has new management and it seems like the service is better now. Please get some more/bette4r wines!!! Friendly service and good za...I'l drink beer for now. Lots of fancy pizzas, but i stick with the great white north...classic.

I should have known better, but thought I would give it a try. It looks like a place only tourists would get tricked into going. Now I know why. The waiter basically told us the pizzas weren't good, so we had pasta. They were so so, very boring. The mushroom appy was a mystery to us and we had to send it back as it was almost raw, served with a pile of undressed lettuce on the side. The server tried to make up for the slow food at least by telling us after 25 minutes that the food would be "right up", (it was another 10 minutes). The manager was oblivious and never visited our table to apologize. He spent a lot of time at one table of what looked like tourists. I would not recommend Bellagio. It is one of those places you go when you're on holidays and you don't know better.
