I should have known better than to expect great things when I didn't know anything about this restaurant but I had booked the dinner through the Cornucopia / Crush offering. The fact that this restaurant was still available for reservations when many many others weren't should have given me a heads up.
When we arrived there was no one else in the restaurant yet the host seemed very stressed and took a while to find our reservation. He then stuck us in a corner behind a pillar - and I thought we looked good when we left the hotel, lol. We asked to be moved to be in front of the fireplace - as there was noone else around. The meal was pre-set with the ticket but our server seemed very confused and rushed. Our appies came out before we were asked what we would like to drink and when the white wine was brought out it was place - no joke- directly in front of the fire in the wine holder. I then asked the waitress to perhaps move it away from the fire so that it could keep chilled. Then we had a very lengthy wait for our next course. This gave us time to look around and take in the decor...... probably not to their benefit. The only explanation we could think of was that it must have been a variety of different restaurants in the past. It looked like it may have been a French bistro and then something Asian and now it is an eccentric combination of everything. The food overall was pretty good but had some odd combinations. The nail in the coffin for us was when my friend told the waitress - after our quick appie- were brought out that she was allergic to chillis - it's a new allergy and she just wanted to make sure nothing we were about to eat had chili in it. when the next course did come out - it was a fish taco - it had one whole chili just sitting there on the plate. We both cracked up laughing and couldn't believe it. We then tried to flag down the server but couldn't find her and eventually found the manager - he apologized immediately and did comp our wine - which was nice but just didn't make up for errors. Even the final moments. We went to the bathroom betting that our dessert would be on the table waiting for us and it was - no offer for coffee until half way through dessert and then it still had not arrived when the bill came. It’s a good thing we laughed so hard about it or else the night would have been a disaster.

What a nice surprise. I didn’t know anything about this restaurant before I went but was in Victoria visiting for the weekend and we happened to find it when we picked up some bread from the Italian bakery. We went in for lunch and both had their cream of garlic soup and shared a margarita pizza. Looking over the menu I want to make a point to return for dinner next time we're in town.
