Anniversary dinner at the bar!
Submitted Friday, February 24, 2012 - 1:49pm [Dine in]

We went mainly because of the cocktails and in particular the "Hemingway Daiquiris" but decided to stay for dinner and boy, were we blown away this time. We had the calamari for starters..very tasty...liked the two dips.
We then went for two mains - the Elk Medallions and the Pork Loin. I kid you not, they were superb. I'm talking delicious..flavours you would expect in a high end restaurant like Cru or Bishops. We were so impressed. Then we had the cheese plate..great choice of cheeses and loved the figs and bread that came with it .Because we were going all out on our anniversary, we shared dessert then and it was divine. It was a type of chocolate pudding with ice cream. Honestly, the food was just unreal. It was very relaxing even though it was very busy there with lots of people coming and going on a Saturday night. We've been here many times but this time, it was a step beyond. We'll be back soon again for another celebration though maybe won't eat so many courses next time. Yikes!

Definitely worth a return trip or two..

Great value in the 2 course for 22$ or 3 course option for $28. Nice ambiance and space. They have done a fantastic job with the venue. Delighted to have Stella's in the neighbourhood. We'll be back to hang out and have a beer! Food was super. The tenderloin was delicious and the dessert was good..nothing to get too excited about. Just solid food and on a Sunday evening, it is exactly what we needed. Perfect!
No complaints at all.

Shaughnessy Restaurant5251 Oak St., Vancouver
SO disappointing..never again for dinner!
Submitted Tuesday, May 12, 2009 - 4:36pm [Dine in]

We had read a few of the reviews beforehand but because of lateness in making reservations on Mother's Day, we thought we'd give the Shaughnessy Restaurant a go. Bad idea.

We had been there on a number of occasions for brunch and had enjoyed the experience. We will never go back again for dinner. A two course set menu is what we were given and for $43.95 per person before tax or gratuity, we thought it was a tad steep.

The seafood cannelloni tasted like something out of a bland college restaurant. I had the lobster wonton appetizer and I am still not sure if it was real or fake lobster or a bit of both. It was also tasteless..no flavour whatsoever. The chicken dinner was salty and bland. My partner’s salmon was lukewarm and by the time it was returned, we had finished our meal. The side salad was soggy and couldn't be eaten.

Our server was friendly and attentive until our main course was served. Not once were we asked if we were enjoying our meal and when we left, there was nobody there to thank us or say good night. Appalling.

There are better restaurants out there doing a better job. I was really hoping to give the Shaughnessy a good review and change the ratings on here but it doesn't deserve it.

In such a beautiful location, this restaurant kitchen needs a good shake up. I hope it gets it.

First time to Incendio and can't believe we haven't tried it out before. Amazing pizza..really good pasta..chorizo and chicken combo really good. Nice ambiance..Gastown Pizza so tasty and full of flavour..definitely best place we've tried for pizza in Vancouver. Server was also efficient and professional.

Kobe Japanese Steak House1042 Alberni Street, Vancouver
It's an experience!
Submitted Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 11:59am [Dine in]

I would recommend this as a place to go with friends visiting from out of town. It's great fun and a totally different experience. The restaurant itself is competely caught in a timewarp of 1970s Vancouver and I love that. The waitresses on the other hand do look a little porn star like and it is a bit cheesy looking. That doesn't take away from the fact that they do a great job.

The food to be honest is not the reason why you'd go there. The steaks were tough and the chicken was okay. The shrimp appetizers were the best. It's pricey and it's pretty stinky..the fans don't seem to work very well.

There were a lot of families there and everyone seemed to be having a really great time so as a one off experience, I'd say YEAH! But I wouldn't go there again. For the money you spend, I'd prefer to try out other Japanese steak houses.
