finally got a chance to check out the pizza here after reading some good reviews about it. it's just a small place with i think like 4 or 5 tables, there's a big tv in there as well and the place is pretty clean. i customized a small pizza with anchovies, mushrooms and olives, it came out to like 12 bucks. it took a little bit of time but was very good. nice thin crust and you can tell they use quality ingredients. there's only 2 sizes, small and large, the larges are about 20 bucks. for real authentic pizzas, this is the place. i'll be back soon!!
Came here with my friend last nite, she got there early and was waiting for me at our table. The maitre d or whoever he was who greeted me at the door was rude and unfriendly, it's like he didn't want me there. Seriously if my friend wasn't already there I would have walked out! How many restaurants are there in gastown??? Exactly. Anyways, not a good first impression and already left a bad taste in my mouth. Well, the pizza wasn't that good, we ordered the funghi, it was charred (I know on the menu it says it's cooked at 900 F and is supposed to have "flame blackened blisters" but really?) and soggy, sorry not a fan of charcoaled pizza. Our server was nice and friendly. Besides that the place was also pretty pretentious..
Just went to Pinkberry today. Being a Sunday and being just opened it was pretty busy. They have 6 flavours: original, chocolate, mango, pomegranate, coconut and watermelon. I sampled the pomegranate, it was pretty good, but I had the mango which was really good. I never had Pinkberry so I opted to have it plain with no toppings just to get the true flavour. As for toppings they had fresh fruit, (pineapple, strawberries etc.) and lots of other items like nuts and gummie bears. I had a medium which was $4.95, a bit pricey I guess but it is Pinkberry I guess.
I came here for dinner with my family the other nite for my dad's birthday, It's right across the street from my place and I think I came here for take-out a while back when it first opened. We ordered some appies to start, garlic prawns, calamari and they brought us pita. They were ok. For mains I had the roast lamb, it was very flavourful and was quite a good size portion, it came with potatoe, rice, veg, pita and greek salad. Others had bbq ribs, chicken and lamb chops, it was all very good. Our server was very nice and brought us more pita even though it was quite busy at the time. The decor was like that of most greek restaurants, maybe a bit more modern. Because we had a party of over 6, there was an automatic grat added to the bill, as I didn't pay the bill I don't know what it was, I think it might have been 15% but I'm not sure. Anyways, all and all it was a pretty good dining experience.
Came here with my buddy for dinner. We both had the roast lamb and a couple of beers. The lamb was pretty good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty cool. The place itself was pretty dark but other than that everything was pretty good. If i was in the area I'm sure I would come back.
I just started working in surrey and came here with some of my co-workers after work. I've been to the kingsway location by metrotown where I live and don't go there anymore, the service there sucks! The servers there are just downright rude. The service here is not bad, not great but not rude like kingsway. The bubble tea is pretty good although i still think a bit overpriced. We actually tried the food today and it was pretty good and the prices were good too. My friend had the spicey black bean chicken on rice and I had the salty peppery chicken on rice, I think they were $6.95 each and it was a good size portion as well. Ambience was pretty plain,
We came here to try out the rodizio. The room itself was okay, nothing fancy. The service was okay, our waiter was quite pleasant and attentive. For value, i guess it all depends, it is a "buffet" so obviously the more you eat the more worth it it's gonna be. The food was pretty good, there was a pretty small salad section but what you come for is the meat. There was quite a good variety of meats when we went, chicken wings, chicken livers, beef, veal and I can't remember what else. It's a pretty good place to come if your having a meat craving.
I've been coming here for years and have always had a good experience. We usually order a soup (hot and sour), the squid salad, the vegetable delight (an assortment of veg),a curry, usually chicken and some rice. The food is always good and the service is pretty good too. A nice place for thai food.
Came here for a bite to eat after work one day. It's just a small place with maybe 5 or 6 tables and you order at the counter. The girl at the counter was quite pleasant and I ordered a chicken burrito. The food is pretty good and it cost like 6 or 7 bucks. Overall if your'e hungry for a burrito, this is the place to go.
I've been here quite a few times and the ramen is pretty good, I usually order the miso ramen, I think it's like $6.50 and you can add an order of gyoza for like another 3 bucks. I first found out about this place when I went to the one in Honolulu and the lady told me they had one in Vancouver. You can sit at the counter or they have maybe 5 or 6 tables. The place is quite clean and the service is friendly and efficient. $6.50 for a hearty bowl of noodles with cabbage and bean sprouts is a pretty good deal. If I lived downtown I would probably be here a lot more.
I live right around the corner from this place and I always order takeout. The food is okay but the bubble teas are pretty good. I usually order the sour mango with pearls, with tax it comes out to just over 5 bucks, which I think is a bit much for a glorified slurpee. But it is good so whatever. The place is quite small and fairly clean. The service sucks! The girls never smile, say hello or anything, not friendly in the least. Like one reviewer said "what do you want" attitude. Overall if you don't mind spending 5 bucks on a bubble tea with no service I guess it's okay then.
Came here with my friend a few days ago for some drinks and their "famous" wings. Well it was I think a Tuesday nite and the place was pretty full, mostly young people ( a bit sketchy too, wannabe gangster types) but anyways we ordered their hot and maui wings. They were pretty dismal, they weren't even warm and not much flavour either. The beers were pretty good though, nice chilled glasses. Besides that, not much else to rave about. Would I go back? Maybe just for drinks.
Came here for dinner tonite with my friend. Heard good things about it and always wanted to try it. My friend had the meatloaf wellington and I had the turkey dinner. The food was nothing fancy but just done right. Good, simple food done properly. The server was very nice and attentive. The place (the old aurora spot) is quite cosy, I think they put in more tables in and a bigger bar. Overall it was a good dining experience and I'm sure I'll be back.
Heard good things about this place and wanted to try it out. Well first of all it's in a seedy part of town which doesn't really bother me. We ordered the albacore crudo which was pretty average, and then we had the salumi platter which again was pretty average. Then we shared a pasta (which was the special that day) and a pizza. The pasta was pretty good but the pizza was a bit underdone. The service was good and the room is quite nice and they have a bar in the back which was kind of weird. Overall it was okay, but since I don't live in that neighborhood and don't frequent that part of town much, I probably won't be going back any time soon.
I came here for dinner with my friend last month. I've always wanted to try this place and every time i tried (in the summer) the place was packed and we couldn't get in. Well finally we got in and it was pretty disapointing. I had the enchilada and it was pretty average, it also is more expensive than regular mexican places, probably because it's on robson but still that doesn't make it right. The server was nice but I don't think she could speak or understand english too well. She tried to take my plate away when I wasn't finished, I said no and she still took it. I only had a few more bites anyways so I wasn't really upset but more amused. Overall I wouldn't go back, nothing special.
Came here the other nite for takeout. I love tawainese beef soup and good handmade noodles. The server was very nice and took my order and said it would be 5 minutes...wow, it was a friday and fairly full so 5 minutes was awesome. I ordered the large no. 3. Like other people have said it's huge.......But it cost $11.50!!!! for a bowl of noodle soup????? wtf?? And to be honest it wasn't even very good, not really flavourful, not really spicy, I've had alot better even in the food court at Crystal Mall. For half that price I could get a nice bowl of pho, or even less than that, a wonton noodle soup, even in tawainese beef soup places they never charge that much. I've never paid almost 12 bucks for a noodle soup, it's not like it had foie gras or truffles in it. I wasn't impressed and won't be back..
I came here for dinner with my friend last night. We were seated near the back of the restaurant and it took a while before the server came over to us. We ordered a couple of stellas and the roast lamb dinner. Our server brings us our drinks and seriously within 5 minutes we get our dinners. Whoa! What's that all about? Is everything sitting under heat lamps or in warming ovens? WTF? Well, the lamb was okay but pretty much everything else sucked! The veg (beans & carrots) were cold, the rice was mushy and cold and the greek salad wasn't very good either. The service was almost non-existent, she pretty much came back when we were done, no quality check or anything. To top it off the roast lamb was almost 20 bucks! 18.95 I think. Most other greek places are about 15-16, what a rip-off! Won't be seeing me back in this place!
This is a little shop in burnaby and they do meat pies, you can either get them frozen or ready to eat. They cost about $3.25 a pie and there really good. There's like chicken and mushroom, chicken veg, salmon, steak and kidney and lots more. I've been going there for years now. It's just take-out, there's no tables or anything. I highly reccomend it if your'e in area.
I came here with my friend on a wednesday nite, it was dead. There was only one other table there. My friend didn't know what she wanted to drink so she asked the server to reccomend her something, cool. So we ordered the antipasto platter which was nothing special, and the halibut cheeks which again were so so. Okay, so when we get the bill, the drink that the server "reccomended" for my friend was almost as expensive as the halibut! What the f*&k is that all about????? So you think we'll be coming back??? What a JOKE!
Wanted to check out this place for a while now, especially with all the good reviews but I live in burnaby and am rarley in north van. Well I was finally in the area and went there for lunch today. Wow! it was awesome. I wanted to try the curry goat but they didn't have it today, there's a blackboard of all the dishes they have, kind of like a fresh sheet I guess. So I had the oxtail, I had the large and it was huge, for $12 it came with rice and peas, and salad, and was the oxtail ever tasty! Just the right amount of heat (spice). It's a small little place, very clean and you order at the counter. I will definetley be coming back here soon.!
