Rude Service - Declining Quality Food
Submitted Saturday, August 13, 2011 - 12:30am [Dine in]

Service:
They have a older waitress (skinny build) who has no reason to be in the service industry. We had a table reserved for 5 and they seated us in the middle table. The waitress says the 5 chair is in her way and I noticed that another table in the corner (also reserved) was free. She barks back that table especially requested that area. This response of course was ridiculous since I can only imagine at a restaurant where there was view or a patio would someone actually reserve a specific table. I ask for the bill and I have to wait 15 mins and then I go up to her till with my debit card. She goes " you are in my way." I said to her "I want to leave but you wont take my bill" No thank you. No apologies. We have never returned since that experience.

Declining quality
When they first opened, they were one of the first decent quality sushi places in the neighbourhood. Recently I noticed some declining quality. For example the volcano roll used to be garnished in deep fried shredded yam. Now it's ketchup flavored potato chips. Their california rolls are hit and miss. If you get a premade one that was made earlier you get a stale roll.

Poor Sushi
Submitted Tuesday, September 14, 2010 - 9:41pm [Take-out]

In Vancouver you cannot get away with being average when it comes to sushi. The problem is this is below average. The California rolls were done earlier in the day as the rice was hard and cold. Yes this place is run by a Japanese owner and yes that is a Japanese sushi chef but seriously that has nothing to do with some restaurant common sense. The rest of the sushi was slightly better because he had to make it fresh but the sushi is not properly rolled and is put together very "sloppily." Agedeshi tofu was oily. I mean the sauce over the agedeshi tofu is like mostly oil. The teriyaki chicken rice bowl was acceptable.

The server has some comprehension issues as I can appreciate that english is her second language. (English is my second language too.) Anyway I pointed out to her I wanted the bento box with chicken teriyaki but I ended up getting the chicken teriyaki rice bowl somehow.

Prices here - not super cheap. Their menu mimics sushi garden (spicy tuna combo).

The one thing good is that it is a newly renovated restaurant is very clean.

My hope is that they get better otherwise they wont last.
