Steamworks Brewing Company375 Water Street, Vancouver
Excellent beer, hit and miss food.
Submitted Saturday, January 12, 2008 - 5:46pm [Dine in]

This is probably the most innovative brewpub in town. The seasonal beers regularly play with different flavoring ingredients. The food is typical pretentious upscale pub fare, which means sometimes it is trying too hard and misses the mark (is duck really necessary on pizza?) and other times manages to surprise you. Their soups however are consistently good.

The gastown location is superb and service generally decent, but during busy times entail a bit of wait.

Great ambiance, even better pho
Submitted Saturday, January 12, 2008 - 4:56pm [Dine in]

As noted by the other reviewers, the owner's personality and nostalgic background music make this place memorable. If you're looking for tongue-in-cheek authentic vietnamese, this place is it. The only thing upstaging the enthusiastic greeting is the top notch pho. Deep, rich broth, quality meat, and fresh greens.

Great all round restaurant

Just about everything on the large menu sounds incredibly appetizing. The whole restaurant has a nice, relaxing atmosphere and the drinks lounge is a great place to hang out in. The greeting and wait staff are always friendly and accommodating. I'm surprised this place isn't more well known.

5 star university meal, 3-4 otherwise
Submitted Saturday, January 12, 2008 - 4:46pm [Dine in]

Overall, five stars if you are a hungry but discerning university student, four stars if you are not and didn't have to wait in line, and three stars otherwise.

The ambiance and service are generally great and the pasta is actually quite good, but not worth waiting in an hour long line-up for unless you really want the two days worth of left-overs.

Great view, ok food
Submitted Saturday, January 12, 2008 - 4:37pm [Dine in]

We've been to Horizons a number of times over the years and really want to like it, but just never end up eating anything compelling. The park is beautiful and the view is great, but the generic "pacific northwest" menu never ends up leaving a memorable impression.

Hidden Gem

I went to this little restaurant based on recommendations from friends and online. I wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent, particularly the california rolls and the nigiri I tried. The ambiance isn't much to speak of, but the food more than makes up for it.

This is the best sushi I've had in the Tri-cities area.
