Yikes - something has really changed here, if past, posative reviews are any indication. Looking at the menu posted in the window, we were very excited to give this place a try - The warm ambience and comfortable seating was truly inviting after a long day of trekking around the cranberry festival. Upon our arrival, (we were the first folks in for dinner) I was interesting to hear from our waitress that the "chef was so overwhelmed" by the action during the day, that he hadn't had time to make more chowder. In retrospect, this comment was a true harbinger to come. Given all the other intriguing appetizer/tapas to explore, we proceeded to order 3 appies, and asked that the goat cheese/cranberry option be served first. Instead, the mussels in tomato/chorizo sauce arrived and what a mucky overcooked, rubbery mess they were - Yuck. Next up was the goat cheese/cranberry chutney option, which in some ways was quite good, but why, why why would you serve this with a sweet cranberry bread - it really needed to rest on a more savory base.
Lastly, we shared the star option of the evening - Lamb chops with potato and jus - beautiful!
Service was mediocre - I think our waitress was trying, but it appeared she was very inexperienced, so was not very attentive - we were left having to ask for water, to have our table candle lit etc. Fortunately, the wine selection was good and came very promptly!
Would we try this place again? Absolutely, as there is a lot of potential here and the space is elegant and sophisticated - the food and service just have to catch up the room!
