Just a Comfy Place!
Submitted Wednesday, February 20, 2008 - 12:17pm [Dine in]

Went back here for pizza and kalamari. As usual, the food was very good. Food and ambience here is better than that dark dungeon called Martini's located a few steps over. I have no comments on their Gigi's delivery because I don't use it. Look at the reviewer and see how many and what type of restaurants they review. I

Better, Much Better
Submitted Tuesday, June 20, 2006 - 3:28pm [Dine in]

Went twice in two weeks for dinner. There are new servers and they are very good. The food has improved and the service has improved as well. This restaurant has been here for a long time and there is a good reason for this. The food and service has been consistent, not great but not bad either. Other sushi shops in the areas have come and gone but provide good food and service and the masses will come.

Quiet in Whistler Creek
Submitted Thursday, March 30, 2006 - 10:51am [Dine in]

If you find this place, you will love it. Same for the Mexican cantina next door. It is owned by the same and I think the kitchen serves both. Food is exceptional. It is located in Whistler Creek, approx 5km south of the village but it is quiet and the prices are not very expensive at all. The locals know about this place and you should too!

Beautiful View, Food Pretty Good Too
Submitted Thursday, March 30, 2006 - 10:47am [Dine in]

This is a great romantic, expensive restaurant for special occasions. It is much too pricey for a weekly drop-by. The Skyride is included and the view from the top is truly breath-taking. The food is nicely prepared but expect to pay for everything and anything. Would definitely go again.

It's Downhill Food Time

Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing. What used to be a good allucaneat has deteriorated into a 'don't care if you don't come back because of the service' kind of a place. I hope this restaurant doesn't bring down the other ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood. Food has become average, smaller in serving but what is truly horrendous is the staff and lack of service. No more, no more, no more. I don't even want to know what goes on behind the scenes here.

NY Fries, Watch Out!
Submitted Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 3:00pm [Dine in]

A very small and tidy restaurant that sells yummy Belgian (actually still French) fries with a huge selection of dips to go with. You can try a different one for a month and not repeat. I think they have a poutine on the menu but I haven't tried it yet. Only problem is that they serve the food in a cone so you can't put it down otherwise, you will spill your fries. You need to find holes to put the cone in!

Quiet in the Mist
Submitted Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 2:54pm [Dine in]

A quaint and quiet restaurant on a very busy street. The food is very good, the prices are very reasonable and the service is very friendly. Just make sure you get there early because it can and will get busy at meal times. But it is worth the wait. This restaurant has been here for a very long time. You can't miss it, just look the the neon sign displaying their name!

Food Good, Servers Better!
Submitted Monday, February 27, 2006 - 12:30pm [Dine in]

Typical of all Cactus Clubs around the city, this place have cute and young servers in black that prance around. The food is very boring. Nothing too original. It is not the food that most people go there for. Strictly for office get togethers and casual date places. There are so many good restaurants that one can go to in Burnaby. Check out Tivoli's in the hotel steps from the Cactus Club.

Buffet at River Rock, The8811 River Rd., Richmond
Don't Gamble on the Food
Submitted Monday, February 27, 2006 - 12:24pm [Dine in]

This buffet at River Rock is very average. The food is only cooked when needed so you have to wait for the good stuff. The other restaurants in the Casino complex are better. I think this place is only for people that want to eat fast so they can get back to feeding the slot machines. Very very overated restaurant. I was disappointed. Way too much hype in advertising Runway 26. I would suggest you RUN the other WAY. There are plenty of nearby restaurants that are WAY better.

Chinese Fast Food
Submitted Monday, February 27, 2006 - 12:16pm [Dine in]

The food here, like all the other Hon's are pretty standard. You know what you will get and you will get it fast too. People knock that Hon's isn't really good Chinese food but the price is exceptional when you consider the portion sizes. Go for the set menus for 2 or more, it is a great deal. For the same price you can eat at McDon's, you can have a feast. And you can order a different menu item every time you for a few months and not repeat the same choice. Can you do the same at other fast food joints?

Food Overrated, Planes Not.
Submitted Monday, February 27, 2006 - 12:11pm [Dine in]

This out of way pub is hard to find unless you take Harbor Air planes a lot. The food is very average. Better food at the Buck and Ear in Steveston. Yes, the servers are nice but if I want to look and not eat, I wouldn't be at a food place. If you like watching planes, it is a nice place to go to especially when the open patio is opened.

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!
Submitted Monday, February 27, 2006 - 12:06pm [Dine in]

Yep, my first time at the Buck and definitely not the last time. The Bar and Grill is not to be confused with the Steveston Cafe which needs a lot of reno to bring it up to snuff. The Buck's food was very, very good for a pub/grill. Only complaint was that there were no original British style foods on the menu. They try to make as many people happy with a selection of Asian, Italian, Canadian, Mexican items on the menu. Get there early if you want some good seats especially when they have a band.

Yawn, Better Than Nothing
Submitted Thursday, February 23, 2006 - 4:31pm [Dine in]

This is no Hon's. The won tons are the smallest I have ever seen. The dishes are very average and the portions are small. I think if another Chinese restaurant opened up nearby, this place would lose a lot of business. Uh, what's with the pictures of horses on the wall? This is a restaurant not a gallery. You don't want patrons to get any wrong ideas.

Very good food, very good service and very good atmosphere. The food has never disappointed me. The waitresses are always friendly and the inside looks like a pub. There are only a handful of longtime restaurants/pubs in Kerrisdale that remains that are still as good as when they opened.
