Always A Great Time!
Submitted Thursday, August 14, 2008 - 8:00am [Dine in]

Have been to Steamworks many a time and have always been a fan! Was in again last night with a group of 12 friends after class. What I love about Steamworks is that you can almost ALWAYS get a table no matter what! Hostess seemed a bit unorganized at the door when we came in but quickly got help from a female manager to get us a seat. We sat downstairs tonite and started with some beers. Service was prompt and friendly as usual. We were told about the seasonals (raspberry beer!!) - apparantly you can only be served two! 9% beer!! My girlfriend gave it a shot ....was it ever yummy (yeah, I know, had to admit it even though it's a girl beer!) I had the Pale Ale, my favorite at Steamworks. We all ordered and the food came out very quickly....in the past the waits have been long at times, so I was impressed tonite! The group of us all had different stuff from the menu. I can't speak for everyone, but my Fish and Chips (THEY ACTUALLY USE HALIBUT!!) and my girlfriends Salmon Wellington were both fantastic!! We asked for separate bills and our server handled it without a problem. All in All - A GREAT NIGHT! Perfect end to a busy day with friends! Would highly reccommend and will definately be back....SOON!!

Was expecting more from the room...

I was really hoping that cactus would leap OUT OF THE BOX on this new site. I have been watching this new site unfold for quite some time now with anticipation. Popped in for drinks to check out the space. and was very underwhelmed. Though they do have a pretty cozy looking patio, the inside was more like a disco-tech meets sushi joint. Maybe this is what they were going for?? I just think a room like this just won't last...and when you put the kind of bucks into it that they have, you'd really think they'd want it to! to me, it was very cold and un welcoming. Didn't feel "comfortable" while we were there.....felt like we were always looking over our shoulder and couldn't relax. Drinks were good....a bit over priced if you ask me....#21.95 for 2 cocktails....not even wine! Won't be heading back there anytime soon. Will leave it to the yuppies to fill 'er up for a year then desert it!

Great Room, Great Atmosphere

Have been to Cobre on two occassions. Both times the food was great! I really enjoy all the different flavours that the kitchen is putting together! The tomato achiote sopa was warming with wonderful flavours without being spicy.....the diver scallop ceviche was fresh but my favourite were the chicken tacos, which is surprising as I usually make a note not to order chicken in restaurants as it is something easily cooked at home and generally bores me! Whether the flavours are 100% authentic or not, I am not sure....born and raised in canada to true meat and potato culture, but I enjoy all sorts of cusine and the food here has definately won my tastebuds over! The service was good, no complaints, but could be a bit more polished. All in all, no complaints, will be back soon!
