Quality comes to Port Moody
Submitted Wednesday, March 16, 2011 - 3:58pm [Dine in]

Since this great addition to Port Moody opened, I have been going back several times a week. I live in Newport Village, but walk or drive to Cafe Divano instead. The staff are well trained on how to make quality specialty coffees and all their bread and baked goods are baked on site. Their sandwiches are on a completely higher level than anything I have seen anywhere in the Tri-Cities. I frequently take clients there for lunch and they are always surprised and impressed by this gem.

New menu
Submitted Tuesday, November 16, 2010 - 9:41am [Dine in]

I have been frequenting Brown in Newport Village since it opened. It was a welcome change to the previous 2 operations at this location but recently the chain changed their menu. In my opinion and in many other frequent clients opinion, they have dumbed down the menu and have taken off some of the best items, obviously to make easier on the kitchen. This is odd at a time when the likes of Cactus Club and Joeys have made amazing changes for the better to their menu. In this day of great salads they now have only 3 salads and 2 of them are the same salad with a slightly different dressing!!!
I also find that the floor managers do not seem interested in the service and do not seem to be paying attention to whether food is going out on time, or whether tables are being served quickly. When one has a larger group show up and one wants to put a couple of tables together it seems to be a huge hassle for servers and managers.
Please don't take your regular clientelle for granted, there are aother options and new one opening shortly.

Rodney's Oyster House1228 Hamilton Street, Vancouver
Poor attitude
Submitted Thursday, April 3, 2008 - 12:23pm [Dine in]

I suggested to a few friends that I had heard good things about this establishment. One of our group called to make a reservation for 8 for Friday evening March 28th. He was given 2 optional times and he chose the earlier, 6.30pm. On his arrival he was immidiately asked whether he was told the group would have to leave by 8.30pm. No, he informed them, he was not, and it was impossible to all eat and leave by then, as it was a birthday celebration.
Promptly at 8.30pm, after consuming many dozens of oysters, wine etc, and having just ordered our main meals we were moved downstairs into a back holding room. Every few minutes a server would come over to "borrow" the sauce tray as they did not have enough to go around. We kept running out of the wine we were drinking, and had to change wines several times. For our inconvenience, the server promo'd one bottle of wine.
The service was slow, obnoctious, rude. No-one cared about our group, and seemed to be more interested in the hoards of young patrons coming in to sit in the main lobby area.
Our bill was around $1200 for the evening, and we all agreed, we would never go back, or recomend this retaurant to anyone. It appears to me that the popularity of this place has gone to their heads, so if you want a fine experience, look elsewhere.

Bland
Submitted Sunday, September 16, 2007 - 6:37pm [Dine in]

I used to frequent Anducci's on Cameron St. Burnaby when they first opened. Then the sauces were the best in town, with great service and great ambiance.
When they opened in Coquitlam I thought it would be the same.
Now I find the sauces very bland, and service mediocre at best. Never any sign of management???

Oldies music
Submitted Sunday, September 16, 2007 - 6:32pm [Dine in]

I live in the area and have tried this retaurant many times. I will never go there when they have live music as it caters to an old group, and it gets tiresome to hear "happy birthday" sung 5 times in an evening.
Port Moody has changed to a younger demographic, and good piped music would cater to all.
I will continue to order take-out only
