new joint for the hip and noticable, pricy but really good flavours, the seabass was perfect, the california rolls were interesting, my wifes steak was perfect, really good experience, will definately go back
I tried this vera's after trying all the others and aside from the fact that the burger was initially overcooked (which they not only fixed, they invited me back again on their tab), the second burger was great, juicy, flavourful and the toppings were good, their sauce is awesome. Although I read one review where the staff were not nice, i found them to be really accomodating.
I have now been to all the vera's stores (I think) and aside from one experience which I would qualify as mediocre (the burger was overcooked, however when mentioned they replaced the burger immediately with no arguement.) I am a burger and fries guy, and i think the burgers are ther best in vancouver, especially when you consider the price and the topping choices. the fact that they are licensed now just makes it easier to wash the burger down.
SImply the best in town, for the real foody, portions are good, flavours are interesting, options are enormous. The calamari is phenomenal, the lamb is awesome, a cozy room, with knowledgeable staff.
this place is the place to go if you like bbq. with the platters you can go hog wild the only weakness is the cole slaw, authentic but too creamy (but that is a personal issue). Service is impatient and sometimes surely, but i'll live with it for the food
Having been to Vera's several times I have to say I think they have the best burgers easily in town. I like the fact that they make them themselves, with their special spices. every time I try another burger place in town I find myself saying the same thing, I could make them myself. Not at vera's, the burgers are huge, juicy and with all the toppings that they offer you could eat there for a month and not have the same thing twice. I luv the onion rings, the fries are hot and crispy, and if you ask them to do half rings and half fries they will. The philly cheesesteak is authentic, and the poutine is awesome. The service is sometimes spotty it could be friendlier, and the ambience is fair, but hey its a burger shack.
