Had the Dol Pot & Beef Rib soup. Rice with beef slices in the stone pot was very good, beef portion was very generous and well-flavoured. The soup was also very good, not over-powering, just smooth and soothing, and the ribs were so tender. Soup also came with a bowl of steam rice, bean sprout, potatoes and kimchi. For just over $20 with tax, excellent value for down-to-earth, simple Korean's fare. Definitely go back and try the other stuffs in the fairly extensive menu.
Our first time was the BEST, back in July. Went back a couple of times since then, but came out hugely dissapointed. Service were still pretty solid, but the ramen, especially the soup were a big downer. May be they are still tweaking and twightening some loose ends. Will go back there one more time to see if they can get it right.
Was our favorite spot for dim-sum in the past years. Went there earlier this year and came out quite dissapointed. But, thought we should give it another shot. Not sure what happened to them? Over expansion, kitchen staff turnovers? This ain't the one that was the benchmark of Vancouver's dim-sum. It was just ok, a little underwhelmed. Guess Fortune House in Oakridge Mall will be our new favourite now.
Extremely dissapointed. The restaurant still surviving not due to the quality of food, but entirely due to its location. Had the clam chowder, seafood crepes & crab soufle for lunch. Chowder was plain starchy and heavy on peppers, not much clams flavour. Seafood crepes came with fries/onion & greens. Fries were alright, greens were not too fresh, crepes just failed. Ditto the crap soufle, taste just like CRAP! Never go back.
Ordered Chicken Satay, Roti Canai, Nyonya Laksa and Chow Kuey Teow. THey were all very, very average. Might be due to high expectation from those high praises in previous reviews. I had tasted Malaysian food in Melacca, as well as most cities in Malaysia and I can tell you that they don't evwn come close as far as for those food we ordered. I would give it another shot though...next time I'll try the Beef Rendang.
Read previous reviews, so went earlier than 7 pm. Hostess seat us quickly, flagged down server and ordered Combo A without the spicy sauce, but got it anyway. Well, we thought we should just give it a shot. It was a tad sweet, not too spicy, but disliked the flavour or texture of meats. Server turned off the grill too soon, no BBQ/grilled taste at all. Side dishes were passable. Service was non-existence, unless you count bringing the drinks and food as service. Won't go back.
Been here once for lunch/dim-sum. It's quite good. So, took guests from out-of-town for dinner. We ordered XLB & Sen Jian Bao, both regular and ones with crab meat, 6 hot dishes, plus an appetizer, the cold salty duck. Aside from XLB, the rest of the dishes we ordered were an EPIC FAILURE!!! Some were too salty, some were flavourless or just bland. Very ordinary food, non-existent service, not so Wonderful experience. Failed to impress guests.
Went for lunch with a couple of clients. Lady server seemed grouchy and annoyed when we requested the window seat, probably it neeed to be set and there were quite a few tables available at the back of the restaurant. Anyway, it only took a few minutes, didn't think setting up table is such a complicated task.
Gentleman server took our orders, I specifically asked for the linguine with salmon, instead linguine with minced chicken breast was served. Anyway, I didn't want to make a fuss in front of the clients. Pasta was a bit hard, the sauce was OK, but, man it's SPICY!!! Client's orders were so-so as well. The service were rude, snuffy and offensive, especially the lady server. She was annoyed even when I asked for the bill? Definitely needs sensitivity training. Won't go back, ever.
Thumbs down! Worst Chinese food in the DT area. I don't get the ambience either. Hon's got no ambience, but food is miles ahead. Had the pan-fried buns, it's acceptable, but not meeting expectation; Guangchow beef fried noodles was a complete disaster. It wasn't your typical long, crispy egg noodle, but rather the short, flat, non-crispy type; was too oily & sweet and the beef were overly starched. Simply flavourless, dour and flat. Very dissapointing and amateurish. It seems that BIG money were spent on the decor, but not on the kitchen's staff/talents. Will never return, even if they convert to a museum or antique furniture store. Simply a waste of time and effort. Won't last.
