Afghan Horsemen Restaurant, The1833 Anderson Street, #202, Vancouver
Great Food, Questionable Value

We have eaten here several times and the food is really good. Service has always been solid and the staff / family are very friendly....but you will pay extra to eat here and sit on the floor amidst the comfy pillows! Not sure if the gimmicky ambiance is enough to excuse the high prices but its a pretty solid dining experience if you want something different in Vancouver.

Great Place, Great Value

I've been here once to try the lunch special based on the reviews and can confirm that it's tasty! For $8.00 i got a very fresh salad, large serving of rice, and some excellent red chicken curry. Overall very fresh and excellent value. I took the food to go, but had a quick glance around the restaurant and it is very clean and comfortable. Would have no hesitation popping in for lunch or dinner with some friends or family. Overall great choice for Port Moody. PS did not find the red curry hot at all - I should have asked for the hot.

Excellent Food. But don't come for the ambiance

This place is fabulous provided you come for one reason - the food! Not a sit in restaurant type. Small, old, but very quaint and fitting for the type of restaurant it is. Food is fabulous and the best, freshest roti I've ever had. Period. But it is a tad pricey ($10.50 for one Goat Roti). If you want excellent take out food and don't mind paying for it, this is the place. Very very nice owner.

The place has a nice feel to it. It's too bad it isn't backed up by really top notch service and value for the money. Our waiter seemed very snooty and abrupt with us. Who knows maybe a bad day, bad night - everyone has one. But it turned us off ever returning! Food was overpriced for what it was. Portions are decent but the taste just didnt justify the price.

Quite Good

Went there a few days ago for breakfast. It was during the week so we didn't get the weekend brunch options. 3 simple breakfast are on the menu for the weekdays and both of us opted for the omelette. Came with fresh bread, jam, potatoes and a huge omelette with a TON of fresh vegetables.

Food was very good and high quality. Can't complain at all. TASTY!

Ambiance is so so, nothing special about it. Quaint little 4 table bistro. Service was good, and coffee......one of the better Americano's in the city.

Solid 3.5-4 out of 5 for the food and friendly owners.

Second Thoughts
Submitted Saturday, October 6, 2007 - 6:50pm [Dine in]

I will admit, over the past several months the food seems to have gone downhill. They used to serve great food and the chicken dishes came with chicken breast / white meat but lately we get dark meat and sometimes the food just seems "off". Anyways, we called about this and they said they had complaints before(not sure why you would tell a customer this but whatever), and they were also lowering their prices to compensate. I guess they aren't doing to well and had to lower their standards?? Having second thoughts lately.
