Bean & Beyond Cafe12420 No. 1 Road, Richmond
I love Bean & Beyond Cafe
Submitted Saturday, January 3, 2009 - 12:33am [Dine in]

I always walked past the open window and the tables but finally went into Bean & Beyond Cafe a few months ago. The owner and his staff were incredibly friendly. The amazing smell inside made me so hungry and gave me a warm feeling. I love the vegetable quiche - it is my favorite. My son likes the white chocolate cranberry muffins. The cafe mochas were custom made for us and huge - delicious. I used to go to Starbucks but now I prefer Bean & Beyond! I want to try the fresh-grilled panini sandwich next and the eggs benny.

Good Chinese Food
Submitted Saturday, January 3, 2009 - 12:24am [Dine in]

My neighbour told me to try Timmy Kitchen for take out chinese food because we wanted something in Steveston. We have now had it 3 times in the last month! It was suprisingly good. The ginger beef is tasty (and you get alot), the chow mein is good, lemon-chicken good. It didn't taste like greasy fast food like we expected. The vegatable rolls were not great. The crepes came with tons of filling but only a six crepes - they should add a few more, but very good. I recommend Timmy Kitchen for chinese food in Steveston and was glad we tried them and will continue to go there.

Ichiro Japanese Restaurant12011 2nd Avenue, #110, Richmond
My Favorite Japanese Restaurant

We dined at Ichiro when it first opened and will always dine there - no where else. The service is always good, the food excellent and consistent, the prices reasonable. Sometimes we order take out because we know the sushi will be fresh and tasty. I think they are closed on Mondays and they also close in the afternoon. So if you want to order take out sushi for a 5 pm party - you have to wait for them to open at 5 pm. My little boy even loves it. We are proud to have Ichiro in Steveston and highly recommend it.

Boston Pizza11662 Steveston Hwy, #2000, Richmond
Cheap Food for Kids
Submitted Friday, January 2, 2009 - 11:57pm [Dine in]

Four adults took our four kids to Boston Pizza for lunch. The boys loved the hockey theme throughout the restaurant with the photos and tv's playing hockey. The kid's meals are incredibly cheap - I think $4.95 including drink and dessert. They all had the kid's pizza - it tasted like a frozen pizza - kind of stale and tasteless. They didn't mind. I ordered the individual sized pizza but it never came until everyone else was served and finished eating. The waitress looked distressed over it but never explained why it never came. She apologized when she finally served it but it may has well come in a box to go. The pizza tasted pretty good but I will never go back there. I had a diet coke to drink - it was flat with no ice. Getting the bill was slow.

Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant3866 Bayview Street, #140, Richmond
My Favorite Steveston Restaurant
Submitted Friday, January 2, 2009 - 11:45pm [Dine in]

I have been to Blue Canoe at least 12 times since it opened. The location is the best in Steveston - amazing sunsets, view of the Fraser River, the boats, the people walking on the wharf. They serve the type of food that we like to eat, at reasonable prices and with nice ambience. I usually eat the lobster potatoe chip salad (like a Ceasar topped with lots of crab and veggie chips). My little boy loves the serloin sliders (mini burgers) but orders from the kids menu. My husband likes everything - the sliders, the ceasar salad, calamari. I ate fish and chips there when it first opened and didn't like how they served it on a piece of paper on the plate - it would stick to the food. The wharfside seafood dip with yam fries is good but very rich and heavy. The nachos are fine but I would go to a mexican place if you want a big load of cheesy nachos. The Canoe beer is very nice. The owner (Jim, I think) is always around checking on things but is too shy to really make the place his own. Blue Canoe is always my first choice to go for lunch, dinner, drinks with friends, special occassions and just casual dining. It reminds me of Earl's but in Steveston.
