How can you go wrong for $2.95, 2 eggs, toast, a heaping mound of hash browns, as well as your choice of 5 bacon, sausage, or processed ham?
And to boot, it's in a sushi restaurant! This is a classic weird hole in the wall place on the West Side, seats maybe 12 people inside, and 4 outside on patio tables.
The restaurant is definitely nothing to look at, they seem to do a lot of sushi pickups here.
The owners (husband and wife) are friendly and are real characters. Food is decent, service is excellent (not tough considering how tiny the place is).
I enjoy going to have a late late breakfast and reading the paper. Always tasty! I've tried the sushi, and it's decent, not excellent, but decent.
As per one of the previous reviewer's review, it does look like Restaurant Makeover has come in to do a makeover. I haven't been here since last spring, and it looks like a new restaurant, very contemporary whereas it was hopelessly stuck in the 80's before.
When I was asking if Restaurant Makeover had come in (they hadn't), the server said that the restaurant has new owners and that they had the renos done. The place looks great! Apparently they will be opening in the evening for dinner soon, serving Greek food! Can't wait to try it, I love Greek!
My omelet was delicious and my friends enjoyed their breakfasts, didn't look like there was anything new on the menu other than fresh juices.
It was busy, as always, but it was only a 5 minute wait, service was friendly, and prompt.
Can't wait until it's open in the evening, to try the Greek food!
Bon's is a solid breakfast/lunch joint. The sort of place you go if you're hankering for bacon & eggs, onion rings, or a BLT.
The food is good, filling, and cheap.
The service if it's busy might be a little slow, but it is friendly.
It's got a grungy hipster-y vibe to it, it's a very casual place, and a great place to have brunch with your friends. And they are licensed! Hair of the dog!
