I give up
Submitted Monday, June 18, 2007 - 4:05pm [Dine in]

After the last two disappointed visits, our friend insisted we go for dinner there. He and his family have been going there for years and have never had bad service so he thought we were just being senstive. Again, the service was poor, pizza was good but I've notice their pastas and appies have gone somewhat down hill. It's not disgusting but it's nothing to rave about either. My friend did approach the owner as his parents are friends with him. He mentioned that the service wasn't great and the owner said hecould care less if he came back. What a way to dig yourself into a hole.

Must try
Submitted Monday, June 18, 2007 - 10:53am [Dine in]

I love going to Val D'Isere, it's my favorite restaurant in the Whistler area. Lots of choices and each item is just done perfectly and tasty. It's a bistro type of atmosphere so the food is more rustic but amazingly yummy to the tummy. It's a bit pricey but every so often they offer specials aka, dine out events. There's usually more than a dozen of choices of their delicious desserts to choose from. If you're too full, share one with your companion(s).

Very impressed
Submitted Monday, June 18, 2007 - 10:10am [Dine in]

Hubs and I recently visited Pearl on the Rock. We were both very impressed with the service and food. The only thing was our table that I didn't like was were we were seated, even though I did request a table with view and booked the reservation weeks in advance (Hub's birthday).

The food was really tasty, love the scallops, order the meal size, not the appy size. They were so sweet and amazingly good. The calamari salad was awesome too. I had the halibut, it was good but it could have been better in my opinion. Dessert was so good, love the ice cream trio. I normally don't like the taste of lavender but the ice cream was amazing!

Totally worth the drive, take a stroll along the espanade after dinner to end the evening perfectly.

Tasty Food
Submitted Thursday, May 17, 2007 - 4:15pm [Dine in]

I've been to Ellie's several times now. The service isn't great but the food makes up for it. I agree it's not authentic Malaysian/Singaporean but it's still might tasty to me! Their fried tofu with dried fish is one of the best items there.

Used to be better with 1
Submitted Thursday, May 17, 2007 - 4:07pm [Dine in]

I used to frequent Honjin quite a bit. The food was very tasty and inventive. However, ever since they opened a second location in Yaletown, the quality isn't quite the same. I'll still go there from time to time but not crave it the way I used to.
