So I had been bussing by this location since it opened, each time my mouth watering at the delicious looking cupcakes on the windows.
I finally decided to go in, and boy was I disappointed.
I went in late on a Friday night, about 7:30. There was one girl, way in the back who had her back to the door and seemed to not even hear me come in. I checked out the selection, and there was only about 5 kinds.
I ordered the red carpet, and strawberry shortcake cupcakes.
The Red Carpet: I have no idea what kind of cake this is, but it tastes really bad. C'mon! This is cake, how do you screw that up?!? The icing is a cream cheese icing, but it doesn't even mask the lousy taste of the red cake.
The Strawberry Shortcake: The cake is moist, but again, the flavour sucked. It was bland, I get better cake from a Betty Crocker box. The icing was horrid! Remember those strawberry marshmallow candy things?? That's what the icing tasted like. No exaggeration. I thought maybe the cupcake would have some strawberry filling or something, but no. The flavour was just in the icing, and it was bad.
What a waste of nearly $8. I didn't even finish half of these. Will not be going back. I will stick to the other cupcake store.
We had a great dining experience and really enjoyed the service we had from our waiter. He was personable, had a sense of humour, and helpfully provided a Tide Stain stick when we had an energetic tomato explode onto a white shirt. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality! We had a small group of 4 and we had a large round table that provided ample space for bread, appies, wine, water, and meals without feeling cramped or on top of each other. We will definitely consider it again in the future.
My boyfriend and I went for a late lunch a couple weeks ago.
We were seated right away. The place wasn't packed like it usually is.
We ordered some appy's, they took over 30 minutes to arrive. I could not understand how the tables who were seated after us were receiving their mains before we were eating our appetizers!
From the time we were seated to the time we got out main dishes, it was 55 minutes. The server clearly forgot about our order, and tried avoiding us. We finally waved her over and she blamed the kitchen for being backed up.
The food finally arrived, it was hot and not any better than usual.
I will not be back. Can't see this place staying open much longer.
I will definitely be back for more Persian food. Best I've had in Vancouver.
I highly recommend the ground beef kebabs, very yummy. Don't go with a Persian person if you can't speak Farsi though. They don't speak English at all in that case, which I find kind of rude. Overall: good food, service and value. Highly recommended.
