It pains me to write this ...
Submitted Monday, August 23, 2010 - 11:23am [Dine in]

The owners seem like nice people, so it pains me to write this, but ... I found a hair in my food. Yes, a hair. woven in amongst the bland rice that came with my chicken souvlaki. Not pleasant. Maybe it was just a one time thing, maybe it's never happened before - but it happened to me, and I won't be coming back because of it :(

Very disappointed.

Bin 942 Tapas Parlour1521 W. Broadway, Vancouver
Great service, decent food
Submitted Wednesday, February 20, 2008 - 5:33pm [Dine in]

Bin 942 doesn't take reservations, so I was sort of expecting a wait when I arrived with a group of friends. I put my name on the list, and we waited. And waited.

We waited so long, a couple of my friends walked down the street to check out other restaurants. The waitress noticed our group getting antsy, so she managed to hustle a couple sitting at a large table over to the bar, and to seat us. Much appreciated.

Once seated, our orders were promptly taken. Both drinks and food arrived in pretty good time. Food quality was hit or miss, some plates were very good, and some weren't. The fries were a particular hit with everyone in our group. Overall, it's a little overpriced, though.

Throughout the meal, our wonderful server came over and made sure everything was OK. Definitely made up for the long wait (which wasn't her fault, anyway.) A slight negative is the volume of the music, which other people have commented on. We were all yelling at each other, which was kind of exhausting. This is not somewhere you go to chat with your friends, this is somewhere you go to see and be seen.

After reading a review of this place, my friend and I decided to try it out. We both had burgers.

I have nothing particularly bad to say, but nothing particularly good, either. The meal was OK. The service was good. The ambience was quaint and kitschy, if you like the 50s diner thing. It's a nice enough place, but nothing to write home about, if you know what I mean. For burgers, I'd probably hit Moderne Burger next time (if they're open!)

Always a good place to go
Submitted Wednesday, February 20, 2008 - 4:57pm [Dine in]

I've gone to the Watermark a couple of times, and service and food have been consistently good. The thing that puts it over the top is the incredible view of the beach. Love it, and can't wait to go back again!

To call this restaurant "fine dining" is a joke. The service is bad, the food worse, and it's overpriced. Three strikes and you're out.

I went with a group of 5 friends, and none of us were happy with our meal. They use cheap ingrediants, and you can tell. We were the only people in the restaurant, and the waitress still disappeared on us. I asked for more hot water for my tea, twice, and it never came.

I would never go here again. The only nice thing I can say about this place is that the views are nice - but I can take a walk on the boardwalk if I want to look at the view.

Do yourself a favour, and stay far, far away from this restaurant. Your tummy and your wallet will both thank you.
