Good service but food is so so
Submitted Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 10:20pm [Dine in]

It was a not so busy Friday evening...which probably explains why the waiter had time to lull around the room. Service was pleasant, not too much and not ignored either.
The mediterranean paella dish tasted OK but the rice had the consistency of mush...overcooked for rice, undercooked for porridge; it just couldn't make up its mind. Portion was a good size but I could not distinguish some of the seafood and meat; I think overcooked again.
The seafood linguini was better and the portion was generous. It came in an Alfredo type sauce and had lots of seafood. I think this was a better choice but I don't think either dish warranted the price charged.
The ambiance made the price bearable, the entertainment coupon helped but it would have been a bust on the food alone.

Have been there about 3 times in the past 3 months for lunch. Their lunch special is a "best buy". The special menu is laid out in 6 columns and you get to choose 3 items but only one per column. My lasst visit, I chose, from the sashimi column, the salmon (4 large slices), the nigiri sushi column, hokkigai (3 pcs) and from the maki column, the spicy chopped scallop roll (4 pcs). A bowl of miso soup is included. All this for under $9

The only knock is the table service; there are times when they just seem to vanish.

Not great but not terrible either...

...shall we say mediocre. I attended a small (8 table) banquet a week ago. The service was attentive for a chinese restaurant. The food was served at a decent pace.

The food was OK but not impressive; at least not for the type of dishes you'd expect from a seafood-menu banquet. One complaint is that most of the dishes came in a soupy sauce. Good thing they kept swapping fresh plates and bowls throughout the meal. Sauce should be used to enhance and highlight the flavour of the dish, not drown it.

Another complaint is the physical layout. They had sectioned off the dining room so that our party had one side of the restaurant to ourselves...or so we thought....until we started noticing that the staff kept carting food to, and dirty dishes from, a small side door on the far side by walking right through our section in a diagonal path from the kitchen....and once in a while strangers would wander in and out of this door browsing through our 8-table party. I've never had this happen at any other banquet.

Long wait for average food

Yes, I know; it was the weekend, so what did I expect, right?
When the lineup goes out the door and down the stairs (restaurant is on 2nd floor) for dim sum, something has to give and it's usually food and service quality. We arrived just before 11am and didn't get seated until noon...for some reason, several groups that arrived after us got to be seated first.
Food was average but selection was poor; the same 4 carts kept making the rounds with the same stuff. It was also hard to get the attention of a waiter; not enough of them so they were too busy running around trying to clear and set up tables for the masses standing at the door.
When I finally got one to tab up our order card, he took it away for what seemed like an eternity before another waiter returned with the bill.
I heard weekdays are much better...I'll have to try that sometime...

Been here for the umpteenth time and the food is usually "middle of the road" but today it was a little "off the shoulder". It started well enough with a very nice Kalamaria appetizer, fried perfectly and a good size portion.
Unfortunately the roast lamb came out luke warm so towards the end of the meal, the fat had congealed into blotches of cold grease that stuck to the meat and the rice.
We also had the chicken and the beef souvlaki. The sides were the usual good sized portions but I think they've cut back on the meat portions since my last time there.
I'll probably come back again but I hope this is not the beginning of a trend downhill.

My third visit for lunch. Each time the food has been consistently good. Several good-sized lunch specials under $10 available. If you have limited time for lunch, ask the server for serving time as some dishes take decisively longer than others to cook. My favourite so far is the lamb curry lunch special which comes with rice and naan.

Went on a Wednesday at 7:30pm and the place was 95% full. No reservation so we split a table for 8 with another party. We had Korean BBQ. Service was fast since it's all raw and you cook it yourself. The meat came marinated with just the right amount of flavour so everything tasted good. Place needs atronger ventilation because we were getting smoke from our own stove as well as from tables around us. All you can eat included sashimi (no limit as far as I could tell). The salad bar was nothing to write home about; avoid it unless you like celery and carrot sticks.
