Hit and Miss
Submitted Thursday, August 2, 2007 - 11:02pm [Dine in]

I agree with some of the reviewers. Service is kind of a hit and miss. I've visited the restaurant twice and had outstanding service the first time, and just terrible service the next. The maitre d' is very nice and welcoming, but you really have to test your luck and see which server you get. In our latter experience, our server was no where is sight, didn't bring our credit card back and didn't top up our water once at all.

The food is alright and some stuff are better than others. The raviolis are wonderful but I had the scallop and saffron linguine and it was awful. I threw out the leftovers the next day because it tasted terrible. The pastas are bland and the sauce really needs to be less oily and have more flavour. The calamari is average even though it was a very small portion.

I would recommend trying the restaurant once if you are in the area but not, if have to travel here. Food is not decent but not spectacular.

Authentic Food!

The food here is really tasty, even though it is a little bit oily. The curry chicken, satay, lontong, Ipoh noodles and sambal prawns are to die for! The buffet, although quite limited, is a good bargain for $10.

Ambience is lacking, but it's a family run business, and in exchange, you get a familiar and friendly face every time you walk through the door. The staff is eager to please, and very welcoming.

I'm not crazy about the dessert section of the buffet, it needs a little more variety. I've noticed that they have added healthier items to the buffet, which I appreciate. It's a great take-out place, and the take-out is quite consistenty good.

Decent food

The food here is decent although it is too mild for me. It feels likes a watered down version of the real thing. They have hiked up their price again and it is quite pricey. Portions are very small as well. On a good note, the manager is very friendly and makes an effort to check in with the customers. I would recommend it for the occassional dinner visit; I think lunch is cheaper though.

Small portions

The food here is quite good, but the portions are very small. You can expect alot of sauce and very little meat if you order a la carte. The servers seem to think they are hot stuff and is not very proactive in bringing water or your bill. Other than that, the ambience is very nice and food is decent. Worth a try.

Pricey for the stuff you get

The food here is mediocre, depending on what you get. Their chicken kefthes were alright but pasta is quite bad. Their pasta is the kind you get from the supermarket. Their service is quite bad, mostly because there isn't enough servers. The same lady has to tend to most tables, including those on the patio. She tries hard, but is not able to take your order or refill your drinks in a timely manner. It took us twenty minutes to get the bill. The owner was downright rude when we visited on Valentines' Day. The food is quite expensive too, and is decent, but not great.

Terrible everything

We tried making a reservation several times and were greeted by really grumpy maitre' ds who seems like they had more important things to do. We have visited the restaurant twice and were disappointed both times. Our first visit was marred by the fact that the patio was booked by a function even though we were told that it was a first come first served basis when we made the booking. We told the maitre' d when we arrived that were disappointed that the patio was unavailable and she should inform customers when they enquire. More customers that arrived had the same complaint. This is because their dining room is very small and the chairs are very uncomfortable. It reminded me of grandmother's "proper" dining room. The patio is definitely more casual and less claustrophobic.

The restaurant is very far away from town and is situated in the middle of nowhere. The food is decent but service is so poor, it makes us reconsider driving one hour out of the way to get there. Waiters expect you to order wine, and we were judged when we declined wine with our lunch.

The food is quite expensive and the price has been steadily increasing. They have blocked the entrance to the bistro and wants customers to walk through the wine store instead. No doubt, wanting customers to buy wine enroute.

I would not recommend this restaurant at all.
