we have been coming here for years (even though the owners and servers NEVER smile and act like they doing YOU a favour by bringing out your food, but we didnt care we always liked the food) and ordering the same things everytime - 2 tuna tataki, spicy tuna sashimi, spicy tuna rolls, kamakazee roll. so we came and as usual ordered our favs - then tried the tuna tataki and it was NOT FRESH and tasted SPOILED and OLD! we told our server that we didnt want this anymore b/c the tuna went bad and she called the owner over who proceed to tell us that since we tried one of the tuna tataki's we HAD to pay for it?? what??? we only had 1 piece each and it WENT BAD thats why we are sending it back! he then RAISED HIS VOICE and angerly asked us "what am I supposed to do with this? you already tried it!" WHAT?? throw it out! its NOT fresh you can really make someone sick! he then barked that we either finished the spoiled tuna tataki that we sent back and pay for it or we just pay for it! WHAT?? we were SO shocked that we left with a BAD taste in our mouths! we have NEVER written a bad review - but not only are they serving old fish which is VERY dangerous - their attitudes are terrible! thats how they treat paying customers that have been coming for years?? theres TONS of amazing sushi places in Vancouver! one just opened Dajia at 836 Denman St! MOST AMAZING food (think sushi joint meets Guu), always fresh, great value and very kind servers! what can be better?
went here with my bf for an anni dinner and we were VERY disppointed! we sat on the patio and the window sill was covered with dead bugs and mosquitoes. not very clean! we ordered some appies which were ok and my bf ordered the steak which was ok but i ordered the haibut with miso and it was AWFUL! totally overcooked and had absolutely NO flavour. will not return!
i went in to grab some dessert to take home and share with the bf. so i ordered the dessert plate....and they are TINY!!! its actually a one bite dessert! they were pretty good but its kinda hard to say since there wasnt much to them. if we're craving some dessert we'll go get gelato or to true confections instead.
i like the food here...much like cactus...but the servers are WAY better at cactus! not only are they hotter and WAY nicer they are also more attentive. all the time that we came here, their servers were pretty rude and it takes them FOREVER to stop talking in the back and make their way to the front to seat us. they should really consider not only stealing the menu from cactus but some of the servers...or at least hire people that dont have their lives/jobs!
i went here with a friend for a quick snack. we werent very hungry we just wanted a nibble. we ordered the seared tuna, fish cakes and eggplant with miso yuzu sauce... it was SOOO good! they have the best/freshed sashimi! even my friend loves it and shes a japanese-food snob! the price was also pretty decent ($16.00) for 3 tapas dishes...we cant wait to go there for dinner...just this time on an empty stomach! =)
this place is amazing! the food is ALWAYS fresh and perfectly prepared! they have the best paninis and thin crust pizzas in vancouver! im fully addicted to this place! the owner Mo is very welcoming and quite a hottie! not only is the food incredibly tasty but it is very reasonably priced! you can also enjoy ur food on their outdoor patio..which is perfect for people watching on robson st!
