Best pizza on the drive!!
Submitted Tuesday, April 10, 2012 - 7:28pm [Dine in]

Went there tonight with a few friends. Its great to have a restaurant in a middle of an residential area. The pizza is very good, the only thing I not crazy about is cooked basil. It would be better to put the basil fresh on the pizza after it comes out of the oven.
The waitress did a great job answering all our questions. The quality of pizza has gone up in Vancouver and places like Lombardos and Marcellos have fallen way back when it comes to authentic Italian pizza. I recommend this place great service atmosphere and staff.

Second place that I have been to that I have seen on the tv show " you have to eat here". Both place were horrible. We were there last night in a table of 5. Mushroom burger was horrible, tasted alot like a 7-11 burger. Wonton soup war wonton was disgusting.
I recommend that if you dont believe me go there and try yourself. I have eaten better food on the BC ferries.

Horrible experience. Stay away from this place!!
Submitted Saturday, March 3, 2012 - 11:14am [Dine in]

After seeing this place on you have to eat here I wanted to try this place. When there yesterday with two of my friends and the place was busy. Two of us ordered a burger and one of us the salmon special. After 30 minutes the salmon showed up then 30 minutes later my burger showed up and then 15 minutes later my friends burger showed up. My burger was not beef at all but more like spam all pork. I asked the waiter was was this and he said beef and pork mixture, I showed him that it was all pork and not a burger. Then another girl came and said no this is a burger I said fair enough I didnt want to argue anymore and decided to eat my thin spam sandwich that I spend $9 for. Then 10 minutes later the girl showed up again and said that I was right that the kitchen had made a mistake and it wasnt a burger but a pork patty, she offered to make me another one but after waiting an hour I said no thanks and she gave me my money back.
This place is disorginized dirty and confusing. If you want to save a dollar or two and wait a hour then it may be for you. The food is average to below average the price is average to lower the experience is awful.

Overpriced and put 20% tip on the Credit Card machine. Not good value my suggestion is to stay away!!!
Submitted Saturday, February 4, 2012 - 11:27pm [Dine in]

I went there today for brunch with a friend. We ordered eggs benedict, hamburger and two coffees for $42. This is like a pub not a five star hotel. The food was not that great and nor was the service. When it came time to pay I pulled out my credit card and when I pressed ok a 20% opinion came out. Why do servers believe they are entitled to 20%? I was not happy with the price of the food nor the value. When restaurant do that I put them instantly put them on my do not go list and make sure I tell my friends the same.
Tips are not manditory so I only left 10% because I felt that was fair.

The food was good but not great. For the prices it is very overpriced. I like everything but nothing was amazing that would draw me back. Three people we paid $200 for food so as you can tell its very expensive. The sushi was below average the cold lobster was like rubber. The service was good but I wont be coming back.

I have been to a few places like this in Northern Italy. Usually on the way up the mountain you find this old house, taverns or even a cave. You walk in the place and tell the family that we would like to be feed and they feed you excactly what they are eating. This place as soon as I walked in reminded of these places. The waiter looks like Conan Obrien and to be honest he was amazing and problay one of the best waiter I have experienced. We ordered a 7 course meal for only $45. As soon as I ate the food I knew the owners were Italian and the food was amazing. I actually give this place a great review with mixed feeling because it such a small place and it takes up to 2 weeks to find any space. So the more good reviews the harder it will be for me to eat there.
Perfect Northern Italian food done without any compromise. Even the espresso was perfect. Ill be back!!

Dont be fooled with all you can eat meat. This place is below average stay away from it.
Submitted Monday, May 9, 2011 - 11:19am [Dine in]

To call this place Brazilian is a shame. We were there last night with 9 people. I have been to this place many times but never for a weekend dinner. Once everyone sits down they wait for you to go to the buffet to grab food. The buffet in many people few is not very good to be honest. Then once they see that you have eaten all your buffet they come by with the meat. So 30 minutes after they come with the meat and start to serve it. For the first hour they brought us sausage 3 times chicken twice and pork once. After sitting there for an hour and a half I stated when are they going to bring the beef? They showed up with beef (beef ribs) then once again with sausages then they brough sirlion then they once again brough sausage. In 2 hours they brough sausages 7 times, chicken 3 times, pork 3 times and beef only 3 times. They only cut a small piece of beef and usually there is not enough to give everyone a piece on the table they say they wil be back and they never come back. I understand a restaurant needs to maximize there profit but its so obvious what they were doing. They want you to get full on the sausages and the buffet(awful) and barely bring the beef. Regardless we didnt say too much until the bill came. On the bill it says price $34.95 buffet pop $3.50 total was $38.95 then add the HST and there suggested tip of 15% then the final price was $50.20 so basically $12 above the price with HST and tip. Most people ignored the suggested tip and left what they wanted as it was not stated in the menu or anywhere they would add 15% for tip. As we were leaving the waiter came and got us and said we are $20 short on our bill so with suggested tip it came to around $450 but we left $430. I said it says suggested tip and most people left what they though was deserved. Then the manager came and said why dont you want to pay the tip I said we paid what we thought was deserved so basically around 12%. Many of us cant stand mandatory tipping expecially when it wasnt stated. If the service and food was good alright. What a mess over $20 but at the end I paid it and said you will not only ever see me again but I ll make sure everyone i know wont go. But the service was ok and the food was less than good. Dont get fooled by all you can eat at the end it is not a good value. My suggest is stay away from this place and they should not shame the Brazilian by calling this place Brazilian. This is one step above all you can eat buffet at Uncle Willies.

Keg Steakhouse & Bar, The2991 Lougheed Highway, Unit 130, Coquitlam
Not as good as the Kegs downtown
Submitted Saturday, March 5, 2011 - 9:04am [Dine in]

I go to the Keg all the time. This is the first time in Coquitlam. I ordered the Salmon and let the waitress know twice that I want it rare in the middle. Sure enough it showed up very dry and cooked all the way through. She did I good job in her service but me and my friend were not impressed with the food. He orded a steak well done and it was so overcooked it was hard and dry.
We didnt bother complaining because it was already 9 and didnt want to wait for another one. I guess this is what you get when you charge high end prices and have kids that are cooking.
I let it be know in the tip I was not impressed on a bill of $57 I left $60. I ll go back but not to the one in Coquitlam evne though it nice I feel it lack the same quality and consistancy of the Vancouver locations. I must say its a nice location too bad the food is less than average.

I have been going to this place on and off for 7 years. In 7 years they have had 4 owners and the place is so up and down. The food goes from average to horrible to edible to gargage. There was 4 of of there last night for UFC first of all first place ever to CHARGE for the UFC. We all order different meals. the nachos were average at best. The burger and wings were expensive and HORRIBLE!!! No wonder this place changes owners all the time my guess is this owner will lose this place as well. CLOSE IT FOREVER!!!

What happened to this place??
Submitted Thursday, December 23, 2010 - 2:23pm [Dine in]

Used to love this place for breakfast. Have not been there for along time. I used to love the Eggs Benny there and decided to order the same. First of all I didnt like the hashbrown they are the ones that look like mashed potatoes that have been fried. They were both overcooked and undercooked I taste like I was eating the baked potatoe from the night before. The eggs were tiny barely any sauce and the muffin was cold. I asked the waitress if there new owners she said no the same owners as before.
For $12 the Benny was horrible to the point I will never go there anymore.

Submitted Tuesday, November 9, 2010 - 10:32am [Dine in]

I had come here on a number of occasions in the past. The last few times the food has been getting worse. Although its only breakfast its easy to tell if something has been precooked or reheated.
One thing I have never like about this place is that you have to go to the front order and pay before they even start your order. I was there on Sunday which is typically a busy day but there was still room to sit. A friend and I ordered almost the same things except one of us wanted the eggs over easy the other over medium. The girl brought us the breakfast asked who order what and put the plate in front of us. As we started eating we realized that she screwed up the order but it was too late to switch. The bacon which we asked to be crispy was soggy, the potatoes that were normally excellent seems like they were cooked alot early and keep warm and the bread was horrible it was hard as a rock like somebody else ordered it and they just reheated it. These are so basic and easy, is it wrong to ask for a freshly made breakfast especially when they are charge $8.95, where you can go to any diner and even pay $3.95 for the same thing.
I wil not be going back to this place more for principle than taste. I dont mind paying a bit more for breakfast but it has to be made to order not left on a heating plate for when you order.

I was there last night with three of my friends. The hostess at the front was very friendly and cute even though we had to wait for a table. I look at the website and saw all the burgers before we went there so we all had an idea what we wanted. What I wasnt impressed with was that the burgers look very little like photos of the burger online. I ordered the Magic Mushroom although the bun was huge and tasty, the burger seems average at best and the topping are so little that you could barely see the cheese. One of my friends ordered the Mans man burger, looked very little like the picture, very skimpy on the topping. My other friend ordered the Port & Stilton Burger and he hated it. He barely got any topping and couldnt ever taste the onion or the cheese. We all ordered fries one of us ordered Gorgonzola garlic sauce fries. The fries werent bad but my fries Gorgonzola garlic sauce was nothing special. For $7 you could barely taste anything different than normal fries.
In the whole I find them extremely descriptive on their burgers but even more skimpy on there topping. You barely can see and taste the topping that it almost taste like you are eating a plain burger. Another thing almost everything has garlic so if you dont like garlic you will be limited in what you order. So at the end I paid $17 for a burger and fries and at this price I was not impressed but the burger was ok. I will not be going back because I find Modern Burger better tasting and a much better value.

I have been to this place many times. The quality is very good but my waitress always seems to mix up my order. Its not really her fault because she barely speaks english but at the end its not my fault if they screw up. Love the Tuna Tataki as well as the Gyzo its very good. Prices in not cheap nor expensive but if they would get there service act together I would go there more often.

- I have been there3 times before and though it was quite good. Was there last night around and wasnt impressed at all. My friend ordered california roll and I ordered the tuna tataki, after waiting over 10 minutes to get somebody to take my order. Within 10 second the two california roll came. My friend asked me to try it because you couldnt chew through it the sushi was really soggy. I beleive it was premade and compared to what I had eaten before it was awful. After 15-20 minutes my tuna tataki came it tastes a bit frozen, like it is seared earlier than frozen. When somebody orders it they dethraw it, it was not good at all. Not only I had to watch my friend eat but he had to watch me eat. I dont know if this was a bad day but I will never go back or recommend to anybody the quality is very low and the service is horrible.
Sushi town seems alot better.

When back before I decided to reviews exactly the same thinks except this time I got my food before my friends. His Dymanite roll tasted like you buy it at Safeway. Either ways shame on me for going back again.

Great patty horrible bun
Submitted Tuesday, May 18, 2010 - 9:41am [Dine in]

Was there on Sunday with two other friends. The staff was great and friendly. When we got our burgers all three of us had different buns, sesame. plain and herb. Two of us were not impressed with the bun at all. My bun was dense and really hard which made it difficult to eat my burger to the point that I had to eat it without the bottom bun. I asked my friend to try the bun and all of us agree that it was impossible to bite threw. Too bad because the patty was really good. I also prefer to have sliced cheese melted on my burger rather than have grated cheese put on the bun. Not sure if I will be back but definately prefer Modern Burger. If these guys make a few small changes then I will definately be back.

Very nice new pub with good service. The food is not only overpriced but also horrible. Ordered the hamburger it cost almost $13 I have had better burgers at 7-11. The nachos came to $24 and it was not only a small plate but less cheese than average even though we payed for extra cheese. Talked to a couple of people that went there and they feel the same way the food is horrible. Maybe at half the price it may taste better. If you want a drink in Poco come to this place but don't go there hungary.

Submitted Tuesday, April 22, 2008 - 6:44am [Dine in]

Last week I was walking down Deman came across this little gelato place on the corner of Davie and Denman. There was a line up so I could not resist. The gelato was being made in the back so I tryed there banana and chocolate. It is the best gelato I have had outside of Italy. The owner said he had just moved to Vancouver 6 months ago from Italy and apparantly has been making ice cream for the last 15 years. Goodbye Mondo hello Garda!!!!!
