The best in Vancouver...I guess
Submitted Sunday, April 24, 2011 - 5:12pm [Take-out]

I had a craving for good poutine late one night and decided to try the BBQ poutine with chicken, bacon, onions, and mushrooms. The other reviews were right, poutine is definitely in the category of junk food. There was a lot of bacon, cheese curds and gravy but not much chicken, onions, or mushrooms. It was also a bit too soggy for me. Definitely better than Belgium Fries but I've had better in Montreal. On the positive note, they have a friendly staff. Would I go back if I was craving poutine late at night again? - Sure.

Good Lunch, Great Atmosphere
Submitted Sunday, April 24, 2011 - 4:59pm [Dine in]

I came here with my boyfriend for lunch after a morning meeting. Despite it being really busy, we lucked out and and were seated right away by one of the owners - it was a good thing because I was starving. I had a vanilla latte and my boyfriend had the raspberry chocolate latte; it was by far one of the best lattes I have ever had - my boyfriend is a coffee snob and he agreed. My gf loves their lavender latte, I will have to try that the next time I go. We both had the Les Boulettes which were meatballs that tasted like Iranian kabobs served with a side of foccacia bread and hummus and cool cucumber cream which went great with the spiciness of the meatballs. I really liked the vibe of the place and the patrons there. Can't wait to go back to try their brunch.

Good Casual Dining
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 3:11pm [Dine in]

I love going to this place when I am in the area. The food is always good here with their great tasting seafood and pasta dished. And to top it all off, the servers are great with their friendly and outgoing attitudes. The only bad thing about this restaurant is the lack of free parking. Even so, I would choose going to this place over Milestones and Cactus Club any day.

My Secret GoTo Cupcake Place
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 3:07pm [Dine in]

My favourite place for cupcakes hands down. I've tried practically all the other cupcake places in the lower mainland and this is the best. From the lack of reviews and what I hear from my friends, I don't think many people who are not from the White Rock area know about it though. Too bad I live so far from this place, or else I would go here once a week - maybe it's a good thing I don't live close.

Good Authentic Sushi
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 3:02pm [Take-out]

It's hard to find a sushi place that's really owned by Japanese people, but come here, and you will find one. The prices are a little high but well worth it. When ever we're in the area and feel like sushi, we always stop by and order some. The rolls are always tasty and fresh here.

Good Food with Good Friends
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 2:57pm [Dine in]

Came here with some of my friends for a birthday dinner and was very impressed. I really enjoyed the food and it was made better with the good company that I was in. I liked the decor, really cozy, yet sophisticated feeling. The service was good being that our server was really attentive and practically having the entire staff opening the door to let us out at the end made us feel special.

Looking Forward to Going Back
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 2:46pm [Dine in]

Went here for brunch and I loved it. The service was wonderful. It really impressed me that our waitress was on top of everything being that the restaurant was so busy. The food was outstanding. Too bad I didn't have enough room in my tummy to try everything on the menu. Even more reason for me to return soon.

Gorgeous View
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 2:41pm [Dine in]

Go here if you must, but just go here for the view. I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The view is amazing but more amazing at night. It's beautiful and it provides the perfect atmosphere for a romantic dinner if you go on a night when the jazz band is playing. The service is really good here too and I really like how attentive they are. I really liked the service and the ambiance but the food department seems to be lacking. The oysters were good but who can screw up oysters right? If you want good food, then this is not the place to go but if you just want a good view while you dine, then it's the place to go.

All Round Good Experience
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 2:31pm [Dine in]

I really enjoy going to this restaurant. I love the food here, and look forward to always trying something new here since the seafood is always fresh. The service is impeccable, my water glass is never empty. The like the chic laid back ambiance which makes it a great place to enjoy a casual dinner. Like I said, this place always provides an all round good experience.

Good Food Loud Place
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 1:51pm [Dine in]

Been to this place numerous times. Always solid food but a bit loud. Everything that we ordered on the menu was really good. Must say that this place has died down over the years. I remember when it first opened and how hard it was to get a table here, even during the week. Now, it's a lot easier. I guess with places like Guu around, there are similar places to choose from.

Don't Know What's the Big Deal About this Place Is
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 1:39pm [Dine in]

Been here once a few years back and I can't say it's left me craving to go back for their steaks. Aside from the great service, I don't know what the big deal about this place is. Right from when we walked in, it was a good experience, service wise - with the hostess cheerfully greeting us, down to our server, who was really knowledgeable and knew a lot of about the menu. Now to the let down...the food was good but it's not the best steak I've ever had. My uncle worked as a chef and he makes better steaks than this place. I guess it's the old boys club kind of place that gives it a lot of appeal. It seems like the kind of place where the businessmen conducts their business talks over lunch and dinner. A lot of older people there on the night that we went, my boyfriend and I were the only other young couple that we spotted there.

Great Place to Dine Outdoors
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 1:27pm [Dine in]

Been here a few times and each and every time has been an incredible experience. The food is always good and the servers are on top of everything. I love having dinner out on the deck here because it's such a wonderful view and offers an amazing sunset in the summers. When it gets cooler at night, they offer heat lamps and a blanket, which I think it a nice touch.

Unique and Good Tasting Cakes
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 1:18pm [Catering]

The cakes there are really good. I wouldn't say it was the best cake I've ever had but one of the best. The owner is really talented and this place is definitely worth a try. The chocolate cake I ordered for my boyfriend's birthday was really good - loved the hazelnut chocolate crispy layer. The owner is extremely helpful and personable, if only the girl working at the counter is the same - that is why I gave the service a 3.

Lives Up to Expectations
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 1:07pm [Dine in]

I've been meaning to try this place forever and my boyfriend's birthday was the perfect excuse. After trying numerous fine restaurants in Vancouver, I can honestly say that this is one of the best restaurants that you will dine at in Vancouver. The staff is very attentive but I just gave the service a 4 because our waiter was missing at the end of the night when it got extremely busy - maybe one of the staff called in sick. The restaurant is really cozy but also very loud, my boyfriend and I found it hard to hear each other sometimes. As for the food, everything was amazing and they have an extensive wine list as well. I had the seared scallop and lobster tempura salad for an appetizer - the scallops were seared to perfection and the lobster tempura was crisp and moist. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and they decorated the gateau au chocolat plate by writing "Happy Birthday" on it with chocolate sauce, which I thought was a nice touch. Definitely lives up to expectations.

Had Better - Not Worth It
Submitted Saturday, December 4, 2010 - 12:53pm [Take-out]

Where to begin...I really don't like writing bad reviews but I thought I would be doing everyone who thought about going here a disservice if I didn't write this. Was visiting a friend out here and we ordered from here based on dine here reviews but was sadly disappointed. They got the order wrong but we didn't find that out until we got home and couldn't be brothered to go back. The presentation looked good but the food didn't taste nearly as good as other reviewers say it is - maybe they never had good authentic sushi? Worse part is, I have had way better sushi for less. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem paying a lot for good food but when the quality and taste is not there, and they charge the same as anyone else, we have a right to feel ripped off - will not be returning ever again!
