Excel Somosas
Submitted Tuesday, November 20, 2012 - 11:07pm [Dine in]

I always go there to get Somosa for the Christmas parties, etc. Everyone loves them and asks me where I get them from. We love them as well; our kids who aren't fans of spicy food always reach for the somosas...along with a glass of milk. They love them and often ask if they can take it to school for their lunch along with a carton of milk. I've been going there for 3 years now to buy somosas every time. It's not too spicy but mildly spicy. I never tried their buffet, etc so can't speak about those. It's a bit dated inside but the service and somosas are outstanding in my book.

IHOP - International House of Pancakes2755 Lougheed Highway, #42, Port Coquitlam
Will never go there again
Submitted Tuesday, November 20, 2012 - 10:49pm [Dine in]

We went to IHOP for our son's birthday breakfast. He ordered chocolate pancakes. They were the worse tasting pancakes ever! I tried a bite and choked it down. Never knew you could screw up a pancake. My son barely could finish it either so he left a lot on the plate. It tasted so dry and tasted like you added cocoa to it. It would taste better if you added chocolate chips; melted to it. Then our adult breakfasts came in the size of child portion. We looked at each other and wondered if we would be full. The Egg Benedict was ok on my end. But didn't like the hash browns at all; they came in half burnt. My husband had the standard; eggs, sausage, and toast type of breakfast. Can't remember what he ordered. But it was in such small portion and very pricey; not worth the price. When we left; 2 hours later husband became so sick in his stomach from what he had for breakfast there. He felt like he ate a cup full of grease. Never again will eat there since it is in such small servings for a 8.99 breakfast which looks to be 3.99 worth. We left hungry. Service was also poor. The staff looked so bored and unhappy. Will never go back.

**correction..my husband reminded me he had the crepes and said they were terrible and he couldn't finish it as well and was sick afterwards from it.**

Great place to have breakfast
Submitted Tuesday, November 20, 2012 - 10:31pm [Dine in]

We went for breakfast several times in the last 2 weeks on various days. We found the food AMAZING! The eggs were cooked the way I liked them. I had the breakfast club sandwich and it was perfect. The ham was sliced off the ham not the typical "fake" ham. The hash browns were cooked just right..most restaurants generally served overcooked/burnt hash browns. This is the first time we found a place that did the hash browns perfectly; golden brown and well cooked. The tomato in the sandwich was freshly cut and not "old". Toasted sourdough bread was toasted to golden brown and not soggy at all. We have also tried the egg benedict another time. It was perfectly sauced on top. My experience has been that they go light on the sauce but not this place..it was just balanced so it wasn't dry. The plate was FULL of food and not sparse at all. Perfect for the price we pay for a plate. My young girls loved the food there too and cleaned their place. It's very full in the parking in the mornings there. A lot of elderly people frequent the place. The one negative thing is their coffee isn't very good in my opinion; it tasted weak and bitter. Otherwise; I would go back again for their breakfasts.

It's ok
Submitted Monday, September 7, 2009 - 12:20pm [Dine in]

I've eaten at many Chinese restaurants all over Canada over the years. This one didn't measure up to my exceptions. The salad bar isn't hardly a "salad" bar. It's just a one bowl consisting of lettuce plus 3 types of dressing on the side and they did have a few things to add to your salad but not your "everyday fare". They had baby corn, beets, etc. No tomatoes or cukes, etc. They did have sushi but it came on a plate and they didn't refresh it after about 20 sushi were taken from the plate. About 45 mins; my son checked; being a sushi eater. There wasn't any more sushi taking the empty plate's place. As for the buffet bar; the choices were limited to me and not much variety. My husband and I both agreed even though the service was excellent. It wasn't worth the money to eat there again. Won't eat there again.

Needs a good cleaning...
Submitted Sunday, August 30, 2009 - 3:40pm [Dine in]

The food is very good but I have to say; the place was out-dated and not very clean.

However the food was excellent. I loved the Naan bread and the butter chicken. The kids did like the naan bread the most. However the chai tea wasn't that good. It lacked the spiceness to it. I found the tea rather bland.

However the desserts were just as they should be; very sweet and good.
