LOVE their concept of OBTO (ordering by the ounce)!

(i created that acronym in the review title btw)....keke. ANYWAYS, had our annual x-mas dinner tonight with my siblings...place wasn't too packed, then it became say 50% full by the time we left...eh Tuesday night, what can you do? Anyways very nice decor...we were greeted by a lovely hostess. My sister also had that cucumber cocktail drink which was unique and refreshing. I had 3 oz. of their halibut, and 3 oz. of their tenderloin which was LOVELY. Each entree comes with a different side too, the sablefish came with a mushroom risotto which was also, verrry good....mmm....definitely recommend this place. Food could've been a tad warmer though...although it's not worth frettin' over. Their dessert is alright. What can i say.....this place is a MUST-try if you're a fellow foodie like me :)

bleh. meh. ugh.

I've been here twice, and both times I've had o-kay to POOR service. Came here for lunch today, our server seemed like she was in a rush the whole time, i didn't get a refill for my water, she came after 15 mins. to ask us what we wanted to order. The coffee was horrible, tasteless, weak and watery. My sister's benny was ready, and sitting on the ledge for 10 mins, it was warm when it arrived, she asked if she could heat it up, our server immediately took the place (rudely) and said "aren't our restaurants like this?". Attitude big-time. Never again. Should've tried the new Tomato Cafe, in Kits, instead.....*sigh.

Vancouver Donair933 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
best donair on the drive
Submitted Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 8:31pm [Dine in]

i've tried many donair/falafel places on the drive...and i've got to say that this is the best place. Their "mexican donair" is pretty good (jalapenos, mushrooms, cheese, chicken/beef at a really reasonable price. The owner (i think) is really nice too...wraps it tightly and is generally very friendly. The place may not look very pretty on the outside, there may only be 2-3 stools inside, but they have the paper for customers to read and customers usually take it to-go anyways...a must-try on the drive!

Sushi Town5935 Hastings Street, Burnaby
just like Sushi Garden...but less busy...YUM!
Submitted Friday, October 26, 2007 - 11:43am [Dine in]

this restaurant is just like Sushi Garden (across from Metrotown) but less busy (because of its location)...apparently the head chef/owner worked at Sushi Garden prior to coming to ST...and that's where all they current rolls originated from...i think the alaska roll is a TAD better at Sushi Garden though (the avocado here seems to always be a bit more ripe than it should be, rice falls apart more often too)..BUT they have BETTER spicy tuna sashimi...(to die for)...their "Awesome Roll" is pretty good too...the only bad thing is that they top the roll off with something called "bonito" ( i think)...which is dry, flaky tuna flakes (it's a bit too fishy for me)....they have better service and it's more spacious...better parking too! A MUST-GO for sushi lovers!

most chewiest pearls ever....LOVE IT!

this is hands-down, Vancouver's best bubble tea joints...service is friendly..."slush/no slush? milk/no milk?" ... food is good too (toast is good) but i think they need more variety and better settings/cutlery...the PEARLS are THEE best here..i think they soak'em in syrup prior to serving them...that's what makes it so good..oh yeah , and they also got a bunch of FRESH flavours....none of that powdery-stuff. Go Dragonball!

best tuna melt ever!
Submitted Sunday, October 7, 2007 - 5:59pm [Dine in]

i've only been here twice...and was blown away by their tuna melt, it's soo freakin' good...it's an open-faced sandwich, with tuna and they put sliced tomatoes on top....unbelievably tasty.

their smoothies are very mediocre, in my belief....and i think they accept Entertainment book coupons!

Flying Dragon roll - you complete me.
Submitted Sunday, October 7, 2007 - 5:54pm [Dine in]

nice lil place by Metrotown (there's a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant), my food-enthusiast cousin recommended this place to me...as mentioned above, the Flying Dragon roll is a MUST-try! there's it's basically a dynamite roll, with avocado, and eel on top drizzles with some sort of sauce....presentation is excellent and taste is even better. THe Philadelphia roll is good too (but remember to ask for EASY cream cheese!!!, if not, be prepared to feel sick after...lol)...their other cooked food is very MEDIOCRE, nothing spectacular (e.g chicken teriyaki, grilled chicken skewers...). Oh yeah, try the VOLCANO too (it's a salad with mixed greens, seaweed and ahi tuna and it comes with this really good sauce....i <3 Tomoya

i dream of the alaska roll....
Submitted Sunday, October 7, 2007 - 5:43pm [Dine in]

Sushi Garden is THE place for cheap, fresh and most important: home of the lovely, lovely, LOVELY Alaska Roll! it's basically an avocado roll, with pieces of salmon on top drizzzzled with miso sauce ...unbelievably tasty. I must agree with my fellow dinehere reviewers that the service stinks, but I always get take-out anyways so it doesn't matter...their sashimi pieces are giganticly large, but very fresh and they have realllly good spice tuna sashimi, their dynamite rolls & beef teriyaki rolls are quite good too....a definite must-try!
