Brave Bull's House of Steaks, The1298 E Hastings St, Vancouver
Yucky
Submitted Tuesday, August 24, 2010 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

For some strange reason me and my boyfriend went here a few months back. May have been because u saw an add in the tv guide saying cheap good eats...steak meal for like ten bucks. I wasn't expecting much, the neighborhood is yucky. So we went in ample parking in the back. Arrived old lil friendly lady showed us to a table where the table beside was littered with dirty old dishes.after about 5 or so minutes she took our order two steak dinners, and orange juice from a can and possibly watered down. Then the wait began, I started to wonder if they had went to the farm to slay the beef themselves. But later I found out that it's just her and her aging husband thawing steaks out of the freezer thus the long wait.We were starving by the time the food came, so how could u not enjoy it somewhat, the high light was the garlic bread and the tiny baked potato and that's not saying much. An old steak from the freezer, u can not believe the gas we had after this meal, I must have tooted all night. I'm not sure why that was. Anyhow the lady Linda is sweet but really this seems like a resturant on it's way out. To top it all off the bill with tip was $50 for this dive of a resturant. Please avoid unless u can't get or know no better.

Dougiedog Hot Dog Joint1011 Granville Street, Vancouver
Better to get a hot dog from a street vendor
Submitted Wednesday, June 9, 2010 - 9:21pm [Dine in]

Ok so I like to eat hot dogs and I thought I would try out dougiedog. Have had japadogs and other various hotdogs on the streets of downtown Vancouver. I walked by there a month or two before I actually tried it and was intriged by the hot dog statue with the cape. So after watching a movie I headed down to Granville with the intention of going to dougiedog. I was greeted by an employee and he was friendly, said they had the best hotdogs in town.he suggested I try the super Mario hotdog and I went for it. Before I ate he rang it into to til and I was somewhat surprised that the were charging 7+ dollars for a hotdog. I thought to myself well this better be good and tasty. To my dissapointment it was not what I expected. Small hot dog with some toppings and a unique taste but not at all filling. I felt ripped off and unsatisfied. Anyways my point is if your hungry don't eat here as you will not be satisfied when u are done.

OPA! Of Greece2245 160 St, #70, Surrey
Mediocre food at best
Submitted Wednesday, June 9, 2010 - 5:28pm [Dine in]

I have eaten at opa many times, mostly when I'm at the mall shopping and looking for a healthier food than what is usually offered at food courts(greasy Chinese and other unmentionables). What I have orderd in the past has been Greek salad(overdressed) and a skewer of chicken or sometimes salmon( always over cooked). Have also tried the calamari and the solvaki plate, the latter consists of alot of rice and pita bread, not the greatest if your watching your carbs. Anyways having dined at lots of REAL Greek resturants I have to give this place a non authentic fast food c+. if you don't know any better you would think it's good.

Kimono Japanese Restaurant869 Hornby Street, Vancouver
Not going to return
Submitted Monday, April 26, 2010 - 5:03pm [Dine in]

Me and my girlfriend tried this place one night recently to kill some time before going to a fundraiser. I had already had a cocktail or two before arriving at kimono, maybe this is why I thought the food was alright the first time. My friend order a bento box of sorts+shrimp gyoza. I order salmon sashimi, tempura appitizer, edamame and gomee. The food was good not great. The service was not bad, they refilled the tea when needed. I like the booths, they were cozy. Looked in the bathroom and it looked clean. All in all I was satisfied.
Now onto my second visit... Few days later my boyfriend and me were going to see a movie at scotiabank so I thought hey maybe he'll like to try it out. We went there and they sat us promply.I told him about my previous time there, was saying that it seemed clean compaired to some other sushi places I had been. We order our food, waitress brought out the miso soup. And as I was sipping my soup I saw something that I have never nor do I want to see ever again.... A mouse scurried under a closed door!!! Now I don't know if this type of thing is common in resturants but when my sushi came I didn't eat much of it even tho my boyfriend said not to worry, it all tasted gross ,I was disgusted and still am.
