I finally got a chance to dine here with my family. If you are going with a big crowd, make sure you book ahead because it's a busy place. My first impression was "it's just an ordinary restaurant with OK food and OK service". I was wrong! Servers are very nice. We came with a little boy and the first thing they asked was whether we need a high chair. I was impressed because you don't get this at many asian restaurants. They brought us extra plates, extra napkins, adding tea with just one request. I hate places where we have to ask twice for everything.
Regardless of the crowded atmosphere, the service and food are great! I like their Hainanese chicken and skewers. I will definitely go back and try more food.
I have been to this Song Huong 3 times in the last 6 months. They seemed busy whenever I went. Food is better than many Pho places. I especially like their rice and vermicelli. They have very good pork stew My reason visit wasn't a pleasant one. They wiped our table with a smelly cloth, so our table stinks. We waited 10 minutes at the table before someone was available to take our order and we had to ask twice for everything - ice water, high chair, spoons. It is a place for good food if you don't care about their service.
You won't expect to find this gem in the Richmond warehouse area. I appreciate the chefs putting their creative mind in their delicious dishes. Their lunch menu (about $10) is reasonable for a house soup and main course. Dinner menu is a bit pricey but for the tasteful creations and excellent service, it's money well spent. Interior is simple and modern. It's a good place to hang out with friends and family.
Comparing to other Vietnamese noodle places, Pho Hoa's menu is small. Their food is just OK. Four of us had lunch at the Richmond location and the server was trying to memorize our order. We had to repeat 3 times and she still managed to get it wrong. Service is very minimal and staff are not friendly. I would put Pho Hoa Richmond on the bottom of my list.
It's our first visit here. Service is very good. Their servers are polite and responsive. The ginger beef dish is quite good. However, the other dishes such as chicken with rice noodle, chicken in hotpot, mixed veggie with deep fried tofu that we ordered are below average. For average price of $8 - $10 per dish, this is what you get. It is a place for quantity but not quality.
I visit Enjoy Cafe regularly for lunch and dinner. Their food is average Chinese cafe quality. I've ordered Portuguese Chicken with rice before and it turned out to be more like curry chicken. I won't order it again. For $7.50 - $7.95, you can get a combo that comes with a drink. The portion is pretty big, so I would say it's good deal. Waiters and waitresses are generally nice but don't expect extra service. It is a place to go if you are looking for solid quality and good value.
The location is previously Sammy J Peppers. Now it is a Chinese restaurant. Without a complete renovation, it is like eating dim sum in a Western restaurant atmosphere. The interior seems unfinished. The floor moldings are removed, so the carpets don't cover the entire floor. Some of the walls are not finished with metal switch boxes sticking out. Service is not good either. Waiters don't look at customers when they walk by, so it's hard to get their attention. Their food is overpriced. My rice wrap came with very sweet soy sauce and their shrimp dumplings tasted very plain. If they charge as much as Kirin does (or even higher), I would expect similar food quality and service. I don't think I will ever go back.
I come to Twinkle 2 for lunch or dinner at least twice a month because their price is reasonable. I found their quality varies from time to time may be because they have different chefs working on different days. One of the things that disappoints me is that they often mix up my order (may be half of time I visited there). If you are looking for cheap eat in Richmond and don't mind the long waiting for your food, it is a place to try.
We just ate there tonight. The place is usually super busy on the weekends. You probably need to wait for a long time if you don't have reservation. We ordered the seafood combo for 10 people. Out of my expectation, they put a lot of seafood in the dishes. The crab and lobster dish was big too. I have to agree with Derkatz's comment that their crab with egg yolk is not an unique dish. Just that not many restaurants do it this way. Nonetheless they still do it well.
The restaurant was busy but the waitress still managed to change our plates and add hot tea for us though we were rushed at the end when the last course was served. However, the waitress did apologize and told us that they were really busy tonight. Dessert (red bean soup... what else can it be?) wasn't hot. The restaurant really need a face lift. Sticky floor and crowded tables aren't a pleasant place to eat.
The food quality is better than many other Vietnamese noodle places. Their combos are pricey because it is basically the total price of the items added up, so you don't really save anything ordering a combo.
Service is quite bad, especially when they are busy, expect to stand at the door without anyone attending to you for a few minutes. Their service is quite slow too - to get the bill, get changes, get a glass of water, etc.
We have been there for dinner once. The restaurant is quite small, so it is very noisy when it is busy. The food is acceptable for such cheap price but don't expect quality food. Their staff are very busy, so we need to call them almost twice everytime we asked for stuff (ordering, extra napkins, bill).
We went back for dim sum on a Sunday morning in April and we got a number to wait at around 11:30am. After waiting for 1/2 hr, we realized that there was another couple holding the same number ticket as ours, so we went to exchange for another number to avoid confusion though we heard that there were another two groups of people holding the same handwritten number tickets (Thank god! Not our number this time). At around 12:30pm, our number was called. We walked through the crowd waiting at the entrance to the counter to claim our table and realized that someone else has already claimed our table WITHOUT A TICKET and were even seated! The server at the counter said she got the ticket from the customer but she just couldn't find it in her box. We were very mad and the worst thing is that she just ignored us and didn't even give us the next table available even though we still have our ticket in hand. We simply left after this. It is my worst restaurant experience ever.
I have been to this location and the Alexandra Road one. Somehow I like this one more because of the food (quality and presentation) and atmosphere. Try their daily special if it is available. Their service is good in general except when they are busy. I like their beef sashimi and robata. It is a good place to try if you prefer more than just sushi rolls and sashimi.
I have been to this place for a few times with friends and most of us like it and returned there to try different dishes because their food is good compared to many Chinese cafe in Richmond. Their servers are very nice and polite. One thing I like about Sensus is that they would bring the food and drinks to you instead of leaving it on the edge of the table and let us pass it on which I found quite rude. The interior of the restaurant is modern and bright. It is clean, including their washrooms. It is not a fine dining restaurant but for the reasonable price that I am paying for, I am not only getting the good food but the good service and a pleasant place for casual dining.
We went to this restaurant for dim sum last week. The food quality is better than we expected. We waited for an hour for a table because we didn't make any reservation though we wondered if it would make any difference to reserve a table. Even though they were busy, the waiters were polite and efficient. The tables are crowded as they tried to set as many tables as they can. They advertise $2.75 for most items which is very reasonable for the quality of their food.
My wife and I went there last night. We saw some good comments about this restaurant, so we gave it a try. I ordered last night's special, Veal Marsala. It was tender and I love the wine sauce. My wife had Ravioli Alla Sorrentina which is stuffed with veal and cheese. It was quite good and filling. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. Too bad that we didn't have room for dessert. I will go back and try their seafood dish and Tiramusu next time.
I went there for dim sum with my family in Jan on a Sunday. We were seated at a table not next to the aisle but surrounded by other tables, so we couldn't see what dim sum is coming because basically no dim sum cart could pass our table.
I had dinner there again last week for my friend's birthday. We order a combo for six which has shark fin soup, crab and chicken. The shark fin soup was very disappointed. It was simply a thick cornstarch soup with a few pieces of hair thin shark fin. They seemed happier to serve tables that order wine and beer. The table next to us ordered beer bottles after bottles and their food was even served on individual plates while we had to help ourselves pouring soup into our bowls.
It is a place for cheap eat if you only want to stuff yourself but not for good eat or good service.
