Cardero's has been around for a while, and always makes for a great dinning experience. Service level has increased and now matches that of sister restaurant at the Sandbar. The menu is simple and focuses primarily on local seafood. Their patio as always busy on a sunny day and makes for an enjoyable and unpretentious experience. Fried oyster are a personal favorite. Price and value is where it should be for the well positioned coal harbour location.
This place is a great midweek dinner spot as well as a solid breakfast joint. The menu is ridiculously large and offers something for everyone. Don't go in expecting to be blown away and you will end up pleasantly surprised. We typically go for a baked pasta dish which are always tasty. Portions are large with most entrees being served with salad and garlic toast. If you stick to house favorites, you wont leave unhappy. Seating is all booths which is cozy. Recent renovations have increased the ambiance. Well placed TV's, cheap eats, and regular drink specials make for a solid place to enjoy the game or Sunday golf over brunch.
Top notch! Who woulda thought Mexican and Korean would mix. Jimmy mixed up a Korean burrito and miso for me the other day and I have to say I loved it. Great flavour, sweet and spicy with a perfectly grilled tortilla. Value is high with this mobile kitchen. I look forward to trying more of the menu. Fortunately their prep kitchen is next door to me! Well done.
I was looking forward to trying this plce in hopes that it could be a close by go to Italian joint. We ordered the garlic prawns to start and then a pizza and baked pasta to follow. Prawns were boring and bland but well cooked. 6 prawns poached in garlic cream, meh. The pizza looked great, but disappointed the taste buds. Sauce was lacking and bland and generaly just boring. Crust was great, but wished the toppings were more flavourful. I thought the pasta was good but my girlfriend disagreed. I would try again if they expanded the menu and included some meat and fish dishes.
By far the best Thai food in the area, if not the lower mainland. We try and go once a week its that good. Contrary to other reviews the value is excellent! Top notch ingredients, and large portions. Staff is very friendly and actually Thai, which is rare in these parts. Sum tum salad, Pad Thai, Gang dang and Tom Yum soup are my personal favorites, but the entire menu is exceptional.
Since moving into the area I have been meaning to try out the new Boathouse in PM.
Upon entry to the restaurant, I was impressed by the decor and overall atmosphere of the dining room. Clean lines, beautiful view, well laid out.
As the dining room was full we chose to eat in the lounge. Service was very young, and fairly inexperienced.
White Sangria was very tasty and a great deal at 18$ a jug.
Firecracker prawn appy, although fairly tasty, was overcooked and greasy.
Mains included a Lobster and shrimp topped halibut with pesto gnocchi, and "the ultimate seafood platter. Both were over priced and and poorly cooked. The Seafood platter at 35$ was the biggest disappointment. For 35$ a plate I can eat virtually anywhere, including most of downtown's high end spots.
Although the bartender/servers were extremely week, the "deck crew" waitress was great and knew the menu well. We were also greeted by the floor manger and GM who were both very much on their game.
I promised the manager I would try them again, but will wait until warmer weather and hit the patio.

Wow has this place fallen hard! Service was horrible and the food uneatable. I had been here on previous visit and reraly enjoyed, but Saturday was a true disappointment. White wine served at room temparature, 2 meals of 3 sent back, and not a manager in sight.
This is the reason why half ass restaurants like The Olive garden and Boston Pizza succeed and this one will not.
In my continued search for great new restaurants I stumbled upon Jameson's in Port Moody's Newport Village.
This place is great! The menu is well planned, catering to all palates. The room is modern, clean and cozy. Our waitress Coreen, although new, was attentive, friendly, and well versed in all menu options. Best service I have received in the area.
We sampled the fresh oysters, Artichoke dip, spinach and and goat cheese salad, Strip loin (actually a sirloin) steak, and chocolate torte. With a pitcher of awesome sangria and a few other cocktails, the bill was a mere $112.00 for 2. An outstanding value. I will definitely return. Well done.
I visited Gotham for a business dinner tonight and was far from blown away. The room is fantastic, well decorated and in keeping with a high end dining room. The menu is short and sweet, offering all the traditional steakhouse fair a la carte. I had the bone in rib steak, with oysters to start, both were very good, and well prepared.
What really killed the meal was the below average service. Empty drinks, lack of attention and straight up informal wait staff left me wondering what the hype was all about. I wont rush back anytime soon.
After a recommendation from a local friend I found myself in NN on Thursday night. They have centainly improved upon their opening menu and decor, but the food is still sub par. Service was friendly and attentive with good menu knowledge. For the price ( which was a little high for the caliber) I would choose Barkleys or even the Keg over this try hard surf and turf attempt.
Great soup. Tasty fast and cheap. Service quick, but not overly friendly.
This is a great spot for cold nights when you dont feel like cooking. Next time i will get more adventurous with the ingredients.
We made the mistake of coming here with a 4year old. Not a great place for kids. Its almost like they had never seen one before.
The ambiance and decor is great, the food is OK, and the service is young and and kinda green. Sometimes I would prefer the ugly server if she does a better job.
I would choose Cactus Club over this spot anytime. Better service, food and value.
Have tried this place a couple times now and really enjoyed. Huge menu or great stuff, fun atmoshphere, and friendly service. An all round good pub. Live music almost nightly. All the fun pub games, racetrax etc. NIce outdoor patio for the smokers.
We may never have tried this small west end Italian spot if I hadn’t received a GC at a local golf tourney.
At first glimpse the restaurant comes off as cozy and authentic, Italian decor and music etc. We chose to sit on the patio as it was nice night (this is where it gets good); when I attempted to sit down, the plastic patio chair collapsed underneath me, FUN. In their defense the manager and servers did however show genuine concern and offered to buy us drinks; well done (they just forgot to take them off the bill).
The food was simply sub par. The antipasto platter consisted of 2 meats, a capicoli and salami, one cheese which was marble I believe (not very Italian) a couple olives, a hard boiled egg, melon, and some pickled veg.
I can never pass up a good bowl of linguini and clams, so for the main I opted for the vongole. The pasta was bland, and boring, more like noodles and butter. Final bill was an even $100 with tip for 2, so value was poor in my eyes.
I will congratulate them on having a full dinning room when we left, but I don’t think I will be back anytime soon.
Best of luck
I think we caught them a little understaffed last Sat morning. Good breakfast, perfect over easy organic eggs, and the coffee cup stayed full. The service suffered due to lack of staff. I think they may have changed owners recently.
This is a place I could easily frequent. The room is cozy and fresh, with a great feel so close the ocean. Our service was outstanding and truly flawless. The menu is exciting offering a bite size spoon menu as a fist bite course. We shared a grilled caesar salad, the lamb carpaccio spoons, and I had the sablefish. The entire meal was delicious; and at just over $120 for 2, with a cocktail each, the value was strong as well.
Well done.
I’m not really sure what the fuss is about with this high priced sushi joint.
We went with the suggested $80 tasting menu which consisted of 5 high quality, but very small dishes; the sablefish being the only one to really catch my attention. The food was very good, but with a less than fair value. The place settings were that of a all you can eat restaurant, with cheap glass wear, chopsticks and paper napkins. This is certainly not a fancy spot, but then it’s not supposed to be. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly. In all fairness, the food was very good, but could be found at other sushi rooms in town for far less$$.
I am confident that for $150 a head, you could dine at any restaurant you choose in town.
Well, we went back for dinner and it was great. Top notch service led by the owner, who was on the floor greeting tables. I always appreciate seeing an owner take pride in his/her establishment.
The food was excellent, and delivered in timely fashion. I sampled the thick cut of prime rib which was melt in your mouth perfect. A definite step up from the Keg or similar restaurants.
$5 martinis and live jazz accompanied by stong service and great food will always prompt me to return. Well done.
Value was strong at $110 for two, including 4 drinks, appy, dessert, and two entrees.
After reading some of our other reviews on here, it was time to give Ch'i a try. I would have liked to have been more generous with the scores, but it honestly wasn’t that great. Perhaps just a bad night.
The room is cozy and well appointed, but cold in temperature. Sexy, ambient music set a good vibe. The place settings are well thought out, offering custom chopsticks and tied napkins.
We were sat in the very back corner and basically forgotten about. The floor was obviously understaffed and the table services was lacking. We ordered 4 dishes, one dessert, and two coffees. Total dining time: 2 hours and 40 minutes, ouch.
Now to the food, the menu is exciting and weal thought out. I enjoyed the land, sea, earth concept. The 4 dishes we tried were all good, and well prepared. Unfortunately nothing stood out as addictive, or even memorable in flavour.
I think we would give it a second try with perhaps a larger table of people, and simply order one of everything to give them a fair shot.
This place is hit or miss. Most days are good, and dinner is far superior to the lunch. Service is quick, but indifferent. Food quality is good, not great. You can only expect so much from all you can eat outlets. The unlimited wild salmon sashimi is by far the best part.
