This restaurant is awesome. They make food fun, exciting, delicious and support local growers and farmers.

There is nothing about this establishment that isn’t great. The décor, service, menu variety, quantity and quality of the food, presentation, and the price are all perfect.

You will have a fun night out and be excited about each course you have.

I will definitely come back again and again!

Shocked at others rave reviews

I have heard nothing but great things about this restaurant.
I had low expectations for the ambience/decor because i was told it is nothing special. This was true. But, I had high expectations for the food based on much feedback. I knew going in that the entrees ranged from $18. - $40. Half way through my dinner the reality of how all people are different became so unbelievably true.
We started with a crab cake- and it was mushy and bland. They served it with some type of tangy guacamole. We had a nice salad though-butter lettuce with pear and walnuts.
For the main I stuck with a special because I thought it would be fresh and the daily "inspiration". It was red snapper with prawns with some vermouth sauce. It was gross. The fish was bland and over cooked. The sauce was rich and salty. It was served in a big pile with lentils and wild rice and rubbery mushrooms. It was texture hell. Mushy, crunchy, rubbery, and pasty all at the same time. I couldn't even finish it.

I had a bad feeling when they put it in front of me because it looked like something you'd pile on your plate at a buffet or cafeteria, the sprig of dill finished it off and made me feel like I was back in the 90's. This was a feature dish. Shouldn't it be top notch for $25??
My husband had osso bucco and it was average. Lacking flavour and the rice was mushy.

Overall, I think that it is more quantity than quality. For the price it is actually insulting. We asked for some bread and we were charged $4 for 5 small pieces. For a restaurant to have such high price points, bread should be complimentary.

All in all, we ordered a starter and main each, a $49 bottle of wine, a bottle of water and the bill was $140.

I will never go back, or tell anyone to go there.....why would I when there are dozens of amazing restaurants in Vancouver at the same price point that actually serve great food, in a great atmosphere and even give you a piece of bread or two?

This humble little place is a reliable favourite. You get basic, quality mexican food for cheap, cheap, cheap. You willl not be disappointed with the portion size, variety of menu items and ambiance. Just make sure you understand when you order water, you will be paying for the bottle of water they serve you.

Aloof waiters need to go

I am still suprised that this neighborhood cafe/bar is still frequented. We have gone there off and on for decent food in a relaxed setting. The food is dependable and decent but the service is so atrocious that is not worth a visit. The waiters act as if they are doing you a favour by serving your table. They have huge attitudes and need to get a grip. We had our appetizers completely forgotten and when the server brought out our entrees, I politely asked what happened to the appetizers? He said the kitchen staff must be smoking something and acted put out when he begrudgingly asked if I still wanted them. I told him not to bother. The last time we went, like all the times before, it seems as though their "rotating beer tap" isn't rotating at all. They always have the same beer and the others on the list never seem to turn up. The servers get so frustrated when you ask for the ones they don't have. The ambiance of this place is relaxed, that is what we all go there for. But, we live in Vancouver.....and with so many great places to choose from with more than just decent food and servers who actually crack a smile I will never waste my money on this dingy place again.
