Will not even give this place a 2nd chance!

Passed by this place a few times, so I decided to give it a try with my girlfriend.

I had the hotplate chicken ramen. Very tasty broth but had only corn niblets and bean sprouts in it along with some sort of imitation ramen that was more like Italian pasta. Chicken was ok. Girlfriend had less traditional Thai tom yum broth ramen with only 4 pces of thin sliced pork and 1/2 hard boiled egg.....she said it was quite tasty. Texture of the "ramen" was not even up to par of a $.50 bag of dry Sapporo Ichiban noodles w/flavor pack.

Cost was $7.99 and $7.50 respectively for my ramen and hers. I think the value is very poor because of the low quality ramen and few ingredients. Would be better off eating Chinese or Vietnamese (Pho) noodles at $5-$7. Service is what you would expect at any other $ - $$ Chinese-run restaurant in Richmond ie poor to mediocre. I suggest you try eating elsewhere.

First impressions: shared parking lot in a strip mall, some stalls reserved for other businesses. Walk in, nice modern decor, seated fairly quickly. Prices are higher than other comparable Chinese "steakhouses" in Richmond...That's understandable as the decor is nice, hope the food is on the same level.

Hard to get the wait staff's attention as they are busy cleaning tables or chatting with someone who seems to be the manager. I order the $7.99 pork chop with rice and pepper sauce, my girlfriend orders calamari with a salad for the same price (both include a hot or cold drink). Calamari comes first, then my pork chop arrives a couple of minutes later (good timing).

The squid is deep fried and overcooked, as the batter is more brown than golden and the inside is tough and dry. My dish has two pork chops, rice and some boiled veggies. First I thought it was good since the pepper sauce was tasty. Then I find one pork chop is mostly fat! Total turnoff! The other piece has fat throughout thus hard to cut out the good meat. Ok, decided this is the last time we come here.

Also, the service is horrible. I left my empty hot tea cup by the end of the table and the waitress never refilled it. Wait staff were more interested in cleaning up and chatting with the manager than serving customers.

Overall, a poor choice to eat at. I don't expect great service at any Chinese owned restaurant but this one sets a new record for a low. Don't be fooled by the nice decor. There's lots of competition in Richmond...make a better choice.
