So we decided to try this place out last minute and we were pleasantly surprised. We shared the tuna tataki and it was perfectly cooked -- tender and pink on the outside and lightly seared the way it should be. The presentation was beautiful. The tuna slices were alternated with thick chunky slices of ripe avocado. We also ordered a mushroom risotto and it was surprisingly good. Nicely flavoured and cooked al dente. I would definitely order it again. We also ordered their pizza with the capicoli and banana peppers. No complaints here. It was very tasty. Service was very good and the prices are reasonable. Decor is very nice, yet casual. I would definitely like to come back and try some of their other dishes.
Was not impressed with the sushi here. Just marginally better than AYCE places. Also, there was a weird chemically cleaning product smell in the restaurant and that really put me off. The yam sushi I ordered tasted greasy. I think the tempura oil needs to be changed. Maybe I came on an off day. The portion sizes look big and this place seems popular, but I don't think I would come back. Too many other great places in the city.
Came here for lunch a month ago and had the falafel and the cauliflower. Food was very fresh and flavorful! I like the clean bright decor, and the cucumber water is a nice touch too! Portions are great and prices are very reasonable. Can't wait to come back and try the other menu items.
I've had great food here in the past, but the last time I was here, I was not impressed. Won't be coming back. It's too bad because I think the guy can cook. But he's either cutting corners or serving not so fresh food. Also, there are so many other great restaurants in the area with better prices so if they want business, they'll have to do a lot better.
The only reason to come here: the Hainanese Chicken & rice lunch! Yup that's it. It's a simple place, nothing fancy. Nothing else too memorable, but the chicken and rice is what keeps me coming back. As long as you don't have any other expectations except good chicken and rice then you're fine. I like the fact that they de-bone it and present it nicely on the plate. If there is a small complaint though, it's the fact that they don't serve peanuts with this dish. Would be nice to have some crunch contrast with this dish.
This place doesn't take reservations so what you have to do is go there, line up and wait until they call your name. I've been here a couple times and the first time I waited less than 1/2 an hour and the second time, I am too embarrassed to say how long it was. The food is extremely good though, but I don't know if I can handle the wait times!
I've been here 2-3 times and the food is really outstanding! The dishes are done with care, the portions are great and the presentation is truly beautiful, but the big beef I have with this place is the super-slowwww service by the weekday lunchtime waitress. If you are in a hurry for lunch, then you might not want to come here. She is nice and polite, but she simply cannot multi-task or prioritize her duties. If you are on a time-crunch, then definitely keep that in mind and come when time is not a factor.
