Best Mexican in New West ~ HANDS DOWN
Submitted Thursday, March 19, 2015 - 8:37am [Dine in]

We work in New West. Its always hard finding a place to take out lunch thats AMAZING. We have good lunches but this place is AMAZING! The waitresses at lunch are all super quick and on the ball. Always people sitting at tables and when they come up and pay you hear nothing but great things about the food. I believe its a family business of sorts. As I am typing this I am planning on my lunch order for today LOL.

Their CEVICHE is one of the best I have ever had. And to be able to get it for lunch and enjoy it in the office is a total joy. Lots of lime and avacado, its wonderful.

NACHOS! To Die For! The price is beyond amazing and its fantastic. BURRITOS and ENCHILLADAS are on point. Homemade Guac and the Pico is stellar. Cant say enough good things about this restaurant. Give it a try!

This place made me fall in LOVE with Sushi!
Submitted Monday, February 4, 2013 - 9:44am [Dine in]

I have liked some forms of sushi for awhile now. Just kinda liked it. Until my girlfriend brought me HERE! Hands down the most amazing Sushi experience. It was fantastic. From the miso to the Soft Shell Crab roll…. EVERYTHING was amazing. The flavor of the food was fantastic. Preparation was amazing. Creativity was unike anywhere I have been. Fruit at the end was just the perfect addition to our meal. The service was STELLAR! We never had to ask for a thing. I am not a convert! This place is a must-go for anyone looking for some high end sushi at a terrific price! I have attached some of my photos of the meal. ENJOY! Lemme know what you think!

FINALLY! Great Chinese in New Westminster! THRILLED!
Submitted Friday, January 18, 2013 - 2:17pm [Take-out]

FINALLY! Have worked in New West for years and could never find GREAT Chinese. No offense to Manchu Wok in the mall, but this place is AMAZING. I just got back from picking up a Combo F. 6 HUGE Deep Fried Prawns (with probably the best dipping sauce I have ever had!) Pork Fried Rice and Ginger Beef. OUTSTANDING. I have finished my lunch and have enough for my kids to have a snack when I get home! For just over 10 dollars this was fantastic. Staff are all very pleasant. Restaurant is very clean. Great EAT IN ONLY lunch specials that are Reeeeeally well priced! And they come with soup! INCLUDED!

I will be back and so will other members of my staff that have tried mine!

I wish Chan's Garden tons of luck! I cant wait to try some other things on the menu! Happy Friday!

PS: I added a photo for you to see!

First time BBQ! Last time BBQ :(
Submitted Thursday, January 10, 2013 - 4:18pm [Dine in]

Had very high hopes for this place after reading a few blogs. I will make this very short and sweet. Burnt Ends.... Burnt fat. It was tons of chunks of pure fat. Not sure what else to call it. It was clumps of fat. I think this must be a cultural thing. Burnt ends should be dry. I had maybe 3 pieces that had real true meat attached to the fat. Couldnt even bring myself to complain. My ribs were dry and clearly had been reheated. The bread that comes with your meal is seriously a piece of Wonder Brown Texas Toast. It was just awful. This was my first BBQ experience and honestly I think I do a better job at home. I hope these guys take these reviews to heart.

WOW! Now that was how you do it!
Submitted Friday, September 16, 2011 - 12:30pm [Dine in]

Not going to lie... First time I came here I had a bad experience. Service was low and the food quality was not as I expected it should be. HOWEVER, last night I thought that I would take my daughter out and give this place another try. SERVICE... stellar. Always a drink refill, waitress was very well put together and had great food suggestions. She actually knew what she was talking about! FOOD.... Appies were the Stuffed Mushrooms which were TDF! Deliscious! Quesadilla was stuffed full of good stuff... lots of good quality chicken in it. For dinner my girl just did the Strips and Fries. Very solid and a good quality chicken finger. I did the Smugglers Cove Sirloin with mashers and a piece of corn. Steak was cooked to PERFECTION. Was perfect. Seafood was cooked well.... just great all the way around. DESSERT... at the waitresses suggestion we had the Brownie. YUM! TOTALLY PERFECT! I must say.... whatever has changed here... KEEP IT UP! Congrats to all the staff that worked last night to make this a wonderful dinner experience.

Pretentious and CHEAP!
Submitted Thursday, April 7, 2011 - 2:46pm [Take-out]

Just want to give everyone the heads up after an episode I had at the Delta location last night. I decided I wanted Take Out and I wanted a GOOD burger. Decided to pick up from the Cactus Club and get a Cajun Chicken Sandwich for myself and Chicken Strips for my girl. Total was 30 bucks ~ which in my opinion is quite a bit. So at the end of the ordering process she asks me if I would like a bag for 75 cents plus tax and I say No Thanks. What I dont realize at the time is that they will not give you a bag for your leftovers OR take out anymore. You have to pay for it! She states that its because they are now going with an environmentally friendly option. What she doesnt realize is that the old brown paper bags WERE environmentally friendly and FREE! So now, after paying through the nose for your food, you cant take any to go without purchasing a bag to walk out with. I go in to pick up my takeout and it is all stacked on top of each other for me to juggle out the door. If Cactus Club was giving a portion of this .75 back to the environment or even a worthy cause like JAPAN.... No problem. I am all for it HOWEVER.... I will not line the pockets of this company with one more dollar! CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP is all I can say. This company should be embarrased to say the least. Whats next? Paying per packet of ketchup or for napkins? The employee that I spoke to in Customer Relations stated "We are trying to promote people to bring their own bags!" WTF! Can you see it now..... Honey, Im just putting on my heals and Im ready to head out the door for a gorgeous dinner at the Cactus Club! Oh wait.... make sure you grab a bag so I have something to carry my leftovers out with. BIZARRE! The business world and society in general has been making me shake my head lately. Anyways, thanks for letting me rant. It was a real disapointment.

Well that was truly a disapointment :(
Submitted Wednesday, November 10, 2010 - 4:45pm [Take-out]

After reading the other reviews for this restaurant my boyfriend and I decided to head to Saturdays to try their donairs. Place was silent. Not a soul in there. We look at the menu and decide on the chicken on naan donair. Where I come from a donair is supposed to have a ton of garlic flavour. Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and onions but that is not at all what I received. It was a piece of naan which was fine however the chicken was more of a stringy paste that tasted moreso like it had salty indian flavours in it. I could recognize the lettuce but they called it "salad" on the menu. I could not make out any cucumbers or tomatoes. Really could not taste the sauce whatever is was. Just tasted like an Indian version of a greek specialty. To add fries to the donair it was an extra 3.50 for a small helping of fresh fries. One donair and fries was $14. Cant lie, felt totally unsatisfied and sorta ripped off at the end of it all. Would recommend the fries as being fresh and tasty but the donair I would not want to eat again. Was hoping this was going to be my new favorite takeout spot. :(

Best Soup and Sammy in New West ~ Hands Down!
Submitted Monday, October 4, 2010 - 12:34pm [Take-out]

During the work week this is where I go for the best soup and sandwiches in town. When you think of the soup Nazi think of Greens and Beans. The staff love to raz the customers and it really is a very interactive experience. Everything is amazing. The bread is made fresh daily and all the veggies are super fresh as well. The soup is all homemade and changes daily. I always take out and even when it is packed you get through very quickly. This place has a ton of regulars and once you have had it you will know why. Do yourself a favour and try the Thai Chicken Wicked soup! TO DIE FOR! Tell them that Erin sent ya!
