I actually love hotpot.
And I used to like the place a bit more. They have a good selection of food, service in terms of refilling soup, changing your plates, those were always very promptly done. I'll give them that.
Service on the serving side, I've always find them to be a bit snobby. But, ah well, long established restaurant. I can deal with that.
Last week we had a meal that with family. The meal was solid, food's always good. Good soup base, very tasty.Llike I said, plate changing service was prompt. Until I picked up a piece of cooked egg, and found something hard in my mouth. I spit it out and found it to be a nice shiny bug the size of my little finger nail, legs all intact and all. Grossed out, we call over a waiter and showed it to him. They got the manager, looked at it, said sorry, asked us to wait.
I was still okay with it, grossed out, but not angry. Then another manager type person came over, brought a fresh black bug with him to show me. "Oh, we think it's one of these, they are sometimes in the veggies." ... indeed? I really needed to see that bug again, knowing that it is so easy to grab me another one? They offered to make a plate of the veggie and the soup free. ... The way they were handling this was as if having a bug in your soup is the most natural thing in the world and I am just fussing. I don't know I find it hard to have an apetite when bugs come in where they don't belong.
I guess we'll not be going back again.
