happy return customer

This was my third of fourth visit to Spiros. The previous visits were some time ago and, though I really enjoyed the food, I was bit apprehensive about returning because of some the more recent negative reviews. Well, I'm happy to report that the food was as good as I remember. The prices have gone up -- the lamb shank which had been $16 (I thought it had been unusually good value) is now $20. It was succulent and the portion was large. My husband ordered the calamari meal which was also delicious. They seem to have a particular knack with the calamari because they are probably the most tender and juicy I've tried. My in-laws who accompanied us also enjoyed their meals (steak and lamb chops). An all around good time.

My husband and I ate here with a group of two other couples about a month ago. We all ordered the rice tables for two. The ambiance is a bit lacking, but I thought the food and the presentation of the food was good, and overall good value for money. The curry dish we had was mild and complex, the meat was tender. I especially enjoyed the shredded cabbage that accompanied the meat dishes. For desert, we shared the fried wrapped banana with caramel sauce and ice cream, which was delicious and ample for two. Our dining companions enjoyed their meals as well.

better than avarage, but too salty

I had two meals at Mahek. My husband and I had lunch here about a month ago. The lunch specials were good value, the food was tasty, and I found the ambiance and service to be much better than a typical Indian restaurant. Last night we ordered a bunch of dishes from the online take out menu. The overall flavours were good, and the sauces rich and thick, but the two meat dishes we had were really, really salty. If it hadn't been for the excessive saltiness I would have really enjoyed the food, as it was, I didn't care for it. Also, I found that the naan was a bit tough. I'll give Mahek one more try and next time ask them to go easy on the salt.
