Beautiful Place, Food Not Great
Submitted Sunday, July 20, 2008 - 3:33pm [Dine in]

The atmosphere of East is East is beautiful and calming, the wait staff is friendly and attentive but not overbearing, and the drink I had was very good (Himalayan High). However, the main dish didn't taste that great for the price. It was ordinary and none of the flavors stood out. Friends agreed about their plates. And I'd have to agree with others... weirdly enough the tables are too low for the chairs, so many of us had to sit sideways.

Great Pie, Not So Great Mains
Submitted Sunday, July 20, 2008 - 3:28pm [Dine in]

I keep trying to like the main courses at A's, but although they're okay, they're never as great as they sound. A little boring, actually. I understand that their prices are higher b/c they use local and organic ingredients, but it's not worth it if the food doesn't taste like much. The pie, however, is fantastic - some of the best we've had.

Hole-in-the-Wall with fantastic food
Submitted Sunday, July 20, 2008 - 3:21pm [Dine in]

This is my favorite Italian place in town. The food is fantastic (you'll be completely satisfied with the basic pasta and tomato sauce - he does it so well), and it's a quiet little room with small tables. The decor is a little chintzy and the service can be slow sometimes (only 1 waitress) but the latter's because it's such a small restaurant - 1 cook who's been there for 25 years. They close a little before 8, though, and you'll want to call first to make sure they're still open if it's a weeknight.

Going Downhill

We used to like The Foundation - great nachos, laidback decor. good veg food, but I agree that the music is getting louder (we couldn't hear each other last time) and more offensive - I don't want to hear about some man's "bitches" while I'm eating (or any time, really. As for food... it used to be really good, but last time our nachos were burnt and our salads were soggy. Too bad, b/c it was nice having a veg restaurant like that around, and we miss their good nachos.
