Favourite coffee shop in Van!
Submitted Tuesday, August 24, 2010 - 11:41am [Dine in]

I count myself very lucky to live so close to such a fantastic coffee shop! I agree with most people below - their mocha's are to die for, iced or hot, but their regular champagne blend coffee is also fantastic! smooth and creamy, never bitter. The line isn't exactly letting you RUN through, but what do you expect... they only have one espresso machine! I agree that their baked goods don't have a huge range.. however you should try the almond pastry with the powdered sugar. What? You don't see it? That's because they sell out before noon. Get there early in the day and try one - they're amazing. The staff are a delight, always looking out for the customers, and so super friendly. All in all, I don't like going to any other coffee shop, if I can avoid it.

My favourite sushi
Submitted Saturday, January 23, 2010 - 1:43am [Dine in]

I've been going for sushi in Victoria for the past two years, and though I've tried many places with an open mind, none have compared to Ebizo. Everything I've had there has been delicious, and I can say I've never had a bad meal there. On occasion, sure, there have been slight deviance's from what I was expecting, but never a bad meal. The workers there are friendly and helpful, and your food always arrives quickly, no matter how busy it is! And believe me.. its busy a lot, and for good reason! A particular favourite of mine is their spicy tuna and avocado roll, but everything I've had there has been delicious. A must try for anyone visiting Victoria!

Boring sushi, awful practises
Submitted Saturday, January 23, 2010 - 1:40am [Dine in]

I went to Azuma on a friends suggestion. The sushi was boring at best, and not very good. The service was mediocre, and the only thing I mildly enjoyed was the tempura vegetables, but how hard is it to find vegetables. What I was horrified at was the fact that they serve shark fin soup there. I was already on the fence about giving them my business, but when I saw that disgusting meal, it sealed it. They will not get any business of mine, nor anyone else I know as much as I can help it, if that isn't taken off the menu. Anyone thinking sharkfin soup is something to try.. a delicacy.. should consider watching the movie Sharkwater, which you can find anywhere. The fact that they serve this unnecessary and cruel dish is the number one reason I won't eat there.
