This restaurant is now closed (under new management) and no longer serving West Coast cuisine. What a terrible loss for this neighbourhood. The food and service were outstanding but they just didn't have the diners, many nights were very slow.
Would like to know where the chef/owner relocated to, as we would certainly like to try the new location.
This is a small Cafe located 1 block off of Austin not more than 9 tables. The food is excellent prepared fresh by the 2 chefs in the open kitchen. I had the chicken special, chicken breast in a spicy wine sauce & my husband had the penne both dishes were great. The pasta dishes are available in small & large. The small pasta is definetly enough for 1 person. Salads are fresh & delicious. We didn't have a reservation & were lucky enough to get the last table, many people were turned away.
Will return but next time will phone ahead for reservation.
Dined here on Saturday night. It was busy with locals as it is in a good location. Food is okay but have certainly had better. The server was very nice but slow on bringing the bill. We won't be returning but instead driving a little further to Gino's in Sapperton
We have been dining at this local restaurant for 10 years. The food was always good but was sorely in need of renovations.
The new owners as of February have done a wonderful job of giving this little gem a facelift. It still has the warmth of a family run restaurant and the food has not changed, it is just a lot nicer for an evening out. It would be nice to see some changes in the menu but I'm sure in time the owners will add some of their favorites.
We visited Jamesons Friday night with friends we hadn't seen in a while, we wanted to talk & catch up with each other. Unfortunately it was so loud that we had too repeat almost everything that was said. The service was excellent our waiter was very busy but looked after us very well. The appies & entrees were excellent. the four of us each tried a different menu item & weren't disappointed.
I would give it another try but if the noise level is the same it will be our last visit.
We enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner at Mortons. The service was excellent, our server & the rest of the staff took very good care of us. The steaks are excellent, yes they are very expensive but we knew that when we booked. We shared the sides which the server explained were very large, and we had more than enough for the 3 of us. The wine list is excellent but they could use a few more selections that are less expensive, I found that the wines were overpriced compared to other high end restaurants.
We have been dining at Saint St. Grill since it opened its doors many years ago. The service is impeccable, the food is always great.
We dined with friends on Saturday night and each of us tried something different. The grilled caesar salad is always a favorite, the soup du jour was wonderful with great spices & the stuffed artichokes were delicious. Entrees included the stuffed chicken breast, rib eye steak, pasta & salmon all were wonderfully prepared & presented.
If you want to have a great dining experience in the suburbs, we highly recommend giving Saint St. Grill a visit.
Visited Nathans for an early dinner (6:30PM) the dining room was empty and the patio had a few full tables. The tables did start filling up around 7:15. The location is out of the way, if you don't know the Burnaby central area you will need a map, there is some signage starting at 8 Rinks.
If is certainly worth the drive, the food is excellent. They had sold out of the steak sandwich so I opted for the Veal Schnitzl & my husband the Penne Meditterean, both entrees were delicious & a generous portion.
The decor is sleek & modern, making for a great ambiance.
Great patio for warm afternoons & evenings.
We tried this gem of a restaurant on Saturday night. Excellent is the only way to describe it. It has only been opened for 3 weeks and was very busy. The decor reminded us of New York upper scale eatery. The food was wonderful, the calamari was delicious my daughter & I shared and there was plently to go round, my husband had a sushi roll and enjoyed every mouthful. Our entrees were Halibut & a Beef for 2 perfectly prepared and presented. The table next to us shared many plates of fresh oysters and they looked outstanding. We will certainly return and make sure we reserve well in advance as this is going to be the place to go!!
My daughter & I had a pre theatre at Aria. The service was very good, they were aware that we had a limited amount of time and we enjoyed our evening very much. The appetizers were superb, we had the prawn & tuna tower and the grilled camembert would highly recommend either. The entrees were good not outstanding the chicken was on the dry side, I will try a different entree next time, the scallops were also good but not great. It's very small so if you are planning to go before the theatre make a reservation.
We were also able to park our car right at the hotel and the theatre was just a few steps away.
Excellent service and certainly worth another visit.
