Royal City Thai634 Columbia Street, New Westminster
Very good Thai food, welcome to New West!

This place is brand-spankin' new (it even has the Royal City Cafe letters on the outside) but you wouldn't know it from their food.

I went in there this past weekend with a friend and was promptly seated by the friendly waitress. We ordered our food (Pad Thai and some coconut prawn curry) and didn't have to wait long before we had it in front of us.

The food was some of the best Thai I've tasted, and the price was great compared to most places. The restaurant looks totally different on the inside, and the redesign has brought a great modern look to the strip in downtown New West.

I definitely recommend this place, and I noticed that they have a lunch special of all-you-can-eat for $12.95 on weekdays. I'll be back to check that out soon enough.

Looking for flies and food thrown at you? You're in luck!

I went there a few months ago, but only now am I writing the review.
The atmosphere is really quite dark, and the waitress seemed in a hurry to get our orders and then buggered off somewhere for 10 minutes before we got our drinks. There weren't even a lot of people in there. We ordered our food, and when it finally came 15 minutes later, the waitress kind of tossed it on the table so that it slid towards us and went off again. The food was alright, big portions and all but while I was eating I noticed a fly crawling on my food. Because it was so dark it was hard to spot it at first but I didn't wait around to see if there were anymore. Avoid at all costs.

Mr. Pickwick's Fish & Chips12884 96th Ave., Surrey
Best fish & chips in Surrey
Submitted Monday, May 26, 2008 - 2:34am [Dine in]

After coming back from a long trip in the UK, I was jonesing for some more decent fish & chips. I found this place and it reminded me of the small chippies they have across the pond. I was blown away by the quality of the food here, perfectly battered fish and the chips were fresh and just the right size. I've been to a few other places around Surrey sampling their fish & chips, but I always end up coming back here. It's run by a great and honest couple, the ambiance is alright, nothing special, but the food is what people come here for. Truest thing to an English fish & chip shop.

Awesome place for a casual meal

This place is located just up the street from me and has become my favourite Japanese place in Surrey. Their prices are more than decent, and their portions are awesome. It's run by a lovely Korean couple and there are a few young people who serve on the busy days. They have a good mix of sushi and hot food, my personal favourite is their udon, which they pack with lotsa veggies, and meat/seafood, depending on what kind you order. The atmosphere is cozy, almost like a feel of a Japanese diner. Service is always friendly and prompt, they make an effort to make sure your tea is full as soon as you drink half the cup. Overall a great place with great food and very decent prices.
